Welcome to the FOCUS Workshop Series! In this video, Olly shows you step by step how to easily remove and replace the battery from your FOCUS e-bike. No matter if you have a FOCUS SAM², JAM² 6. series or 8. series - the process is the same for all three bikes.
Removing the battery in 3 easy steps:
1. Open the buckle mechanism.
2. Flip open the battery cover. If locked, unlock the battery lock.
3. Open the locking mechanism on the strap and pull out the battery at the same time.
To insert the battery, simply follow the 3 steps in reverse order.
It is important that the battery locking mechanism engages securely to ensure a safe ride. However, additional locking is not necessary.

Great idea for a video series, lets have more please. When I first got my Jam2 6.7 (a different battery arrangement) I had a lot of problems getting the battery out (and putting it back) but it turned out it was because the lock barrel had never been lubricated and was almost completely seized. I ended up taking it out and soaking in penetrating oil and it's been fine ever since although I do make sure to give it a squirt of GT85 occasionally.

Two questions.... - Are there any spare parts for the battery cover rubber? Over time (sun, humidity) the rubbers tend to itch and crack. - Does the battery cover sound with the movements of the bike?? Thanks.

Can you point me to a video for the jam2 6.8 2021? I need to remove the battery but it gets jammed when it drops down. Do I remove the cover beforehand?

Basically, removing the battery from the JAM² MY21 is very simple. Turn the key once to unlock the battery, then it falls into a kind of fuse so that it doesn't pop out completely. Then you have to press the button on the top of the battery to unlock it so that the battery comes out completely. The battery cover does not have to be removed and unfortunately we did not make a separate video about this, sorry

Hi BenMo! As the battery on the JAM² SL can be removed by opening the battery cover on the underside of the down tube, there is no other option and no need for another (in our opinion) :-) All the best! FOCUS Bikes // Wendel

What is the maximum of brake rotor diagonal length you can put on a focus jam 6.9 that the Frame can hold onto bc I want to get 220 mm brake rotors on my bike but idk if the frame can hold onto it...

Spesso si danneggia la bici proprio dove alloggia la batteria, sarebbe opportuno mettere sotto una protezione in metallo?

For this reason, our engineers have once again put their heads together and developed a new motor cover for the problem in question, which is partly made of aluminium. If you should also have problems with the V1 motor cover, you are welcome to visit your dealer, who can then request the new V2 motor cover from our service department. Yeah - been in contact with Technical services - advice is to take it to bike shop as more difficult job than it appears at first sight. I am hoping that someone on RU-vid will do a video on it, as it seems crazy that I will been to pay about 50 Euros to fit a 4 Euro part....@@FOCUSbikes

@@MadMarchTaffy I don't know if it's the same as my Jam2 6.7 but the piece of plastic that holds the charge port cracked. It's actually not a great design because it's held by 2 screws at one end and each time you remove the cable it flexes slightly so over time just fatigues and cracks. The biggest problem I had was getting the replacement part here in the UK, my nearest Focus dealer did in the end manage to order one but the shipping charge was huge. Fitting it was easier than I thought. Once the battery is out there's a cover plate hiding all the cables running through the frame. Take that off and with care you can reach the connector for the charge port cable. You need to undo that and then pull the charge port out completely with the cable (and ideally attach a piece of thread so you can pull it back through easily). Then just swap the plastic bracket over and reassemble. Took me about 30 minutes.

@@chrisskinner4893 I got the part easily (Forge Cycles, Ringwood) but postage at £4.99 was more than the part! (£4). Exactly same issue that you described - it is a crap design which is why I imagine they sell the replacement ports - so many breakages... One question - I have the battery out etc - is the cable connector you describe at the motor end or the handlebar end of the battery hole? Thanks - Mike

Strangely that's where I bought my bike from. I got the part from the Focus dealer in Bath and had to pay about £20 shipping to get it from Focus to them! I bought 2 so I now have a spare.
