Thank you so much for this tutorial… Im new to crocheting and I stared crocheting waffles a few nights before my mom passed away. It was hard but I decided to finish him and stitch a heart with her ashes up inside…. I don’t know if that’s weird or not but it brings me comfort in the worst time of my life…. My mom was so proud of my crocheting and she was so impressed watching me start to crochet waffles…a very special memory I will treasure forever.

This is an excellent tutorial. I've seen far too many creators erroneously referring to rounds as rows. That only confuses beginners. Also kudos to you for showing people to turn the item on itself when it starts to bowl, so the right side of the stitches are facing out. That's another step that I see omitted time & time again.

hey! hmm - you can try just crocheting a small flat piece as follows: Row 1: chain 5 Row 2: beginning from 2nd chain from the hook, sc across (for clarification on "2nd chain", see step 2 of this tutorial littleworldofwhimsy.com/how-to-crochet-an-oval-around-a-foundation-chain-easy/#second-chain) You should end up with a tiny flat piece that you can sew onto the bear. If it's too short you can add an extra row!

Do you have tips to get even stitches and even rows? Whenever I crochet my amigurumi dolls, the my rows look slanted-if that makes any sense. My rows aren’t lined up perfectly and symmetrical like yours. How do I fix that?
@littleworldofwhimsy
@littleworldofwhimsy 6 месяцев назад
hi! hmm.. there's a chance part of is it that I'm using the "x stitch" variation of the single crochet. Here's a video describing it more: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--fqzCsstP_Y.html. I'm not sure whether it would result in less slanted rows, but it changes the shape from sideways leaning "v"s to slightly sideways leaning "x"s. Take a look at the video and let me know whether that helps answer some questions. Otherwise, it might just be because your tension is not completely even (something that comes with practice). It's hard to tell without seeing, so if you want to send me a picture to @littleworldofwhimsy on IG I can probably help more!

@@littleworldofwhimsy Thank you so much! I’ll definitely take a look at the video. I am still fairly new to crocheting. I’ve been crocheting on and off for a little over a year now. I'm a bit confused the yarn weight and hook size in the video is completely different than the written pattern. Sport weight and 3.25mm in the video but written says worsted and 2.75 hook so I'm confused which do we use?
@littleworldofwhimsy
@littleworldofwhimsy 4 месяца назад
Sorry for the confusion - I published this pattern several years ago, and my preferences for yarn have changed slightly. They're both fine (I was using a thinner worsted weight yarn previously) but just go with the video instructions. The video is internally consistent with itself.

@@littleworldofwhimsy oh okay its all good, so if I have a thin worsted weight yarn should I go with the written instructions?
@littleworldofwhimsy
@littleworldofwhimsy 4 месяца назад
@@miss_chrissy thin worsted can still read as sport - just go ahead and use the 3.25 mm hook!

What type of yarn did you use?

I used an alpaca yarn - WeCrochet Wonderfluff is basically a dupe for it!

Hi is the pattern for the nose here in the video the same as the ones written in the website?

I’m using a worsted (body) and a sport weight yarn (muzzle)
@littleworldofwhimsy
@littleworldofwhimsy 5 месяцев назад
Hi! The video version is slightly different because I'm using all the same weight of yarn. If you're using sport weight for the muzzle I would recommend following the written pattern! 🐻

is it possible to use thicker yarn, so he turns out bigger?

Yep! I’ve seen people use super bulky chenille yarn and he turns out to be 8-12 inches tall!

What is an increase or how to achieve it?

@user-gu6ly4vy4m 5 месяцев назад
An increase is when u single crochet twice into the same stitch u already did so single crochet then turn the heck into the same stitch and single crochet again , hope that helped!

@littleworldofwhimsy 7 месяцев назад
Hi, I would suggest sizing up your yarn and hook. You could use worsted weight yarn + 3.5mm hook, or bulky yarn with 3.75mm hook! You should use the same pattern to get the same proportions

Would it be easy to sew it on before stuffing the bear?
@littleworldofwhimsy
@littleworldofwhimsy 11 месяцев назад
It might be easier if it’s your first time sewing pieces onto a body. You can definitely do it that way, just make sure you don’t accidentally close up the body before you stuff!

Maybe it’s the first row of twelve that I’m messing up, I have no idea but I’ve tried a dozen times and the number of stitches keep getting out of wack.

I was having that same issue, but I tried again and it worked out. I would say to try and count and recount every single round. I tried that and it seemed to work. Good luck and happy crocheting!
