Been tanking for awhile, you should put your igneous shield before green dragon blood, I don’t know if your bar signifies your rotation. But it increases your healing done, meaning it also increase the amount green dragon blood heals you for
I know it's a bit more difficult to get footage from a dungeon to show how real pulls are done but it would be very useful in this game. Without AoE threat generation, I think a lot of people don't like tanking because they're nervous about being able to get and keep aggro on groups of mobs. Watching someone show how it's done would be very helpful.
Definitely, but getting back into the game I’ve decided to play a tank, and I’ve noticed how important the initial pull is for aggro, even more how the DPS’s play is even more important than other games. You can’t keep aggro on an entire group of trash mobs all the time unless you wanna be spamming taunts which is pointless and just will sap your resources, which is why it’s so important the team gets your damage shields, enemies get your debuffs and you keep everything grouped together. After that it’s the dps’ job not to just stand in the middle and take damage, but rather make use of all the grouping you’ve done to pop off large aoe damage. I think in lower levels this makes it hard/boring to be a tank because people expect you to work like in other mmos and just press your aoe taunt button and stand there in shield. Plus, in low levels tanking feels pretty useless, dps and healing is so high in lower level dungeons you can often just rush through and as long as you taunt the boss you’re generally fine.
@@firstlast-wg2on I'd say that's just about perfect advice. Definitely about building and becoming proficient with your tool kit. Best thing I could add is just play the class and try hard to get better at grouping enemies up and keeping aggro on bosses and at least the strongest enemy in each pack you pull. With enough practice, anyone could become proficient enough to do most dungeons.
for me it feels kinda weird, i played ff14 before and even as the tank you have to do parses for max damage output while using skills to keep you alive but in eso it looks like as the tank doing dmg isnt needed, since you dont even have 1 skill for dmg

I was levelling up some tank skills while questing in Eastmarch and then Fildgor Orcthane says to me after I defeat him "The thorn in my side is my undoing." Very astute.
Thanks Adam - I respec'd my Nord DK Tank following your build and it is so much better - rockin the buffs/debuffs and even got a few comments from PUGs in a random dungeon :) Also have a better understanding of different skills. Another super helpful video. Now if you could knock out a StamBlade build for me real quick... ;)
Using this on my DK when I run normal content cuz it's fun to do a bit of dmg and jump around with fire. For veteran trials this build doesn't cut it though and I think that should be added to description. Otherwise great work man! 👍
The problem with tanking is that I have yet to see a halfway decent levelling build for a tank. Most (all) of the builds I've seen presume access to end game skills (like the Undaunted line) and levelling with sword and shield is SLOW. Also if you hope to tank at low-ish levels you need to have a frost staff equipped (though that's changing isn't it?) which doesn't seem to synergize at all with other tanking gear/skills/stats. So the only time it makes sense to tank is once you've already got access to all the skills you need, but by that time of course you presumably already have a decent stam/magika build that you're familiar with ... so the only incentive to change is shorter queue times but your first runs are likely to be painful as you're on the steep tanking learning curve. On the whole I think it's a failing of the game that it doesn't support tanking from level 1 in the way that most other MMORPGs seem to.
The main reason is you really don’t need tank skills at level 1. Content doesn’t really get to the point of tanking until you level up. At least from my experience
@@Adam_Lutz but we do regular dungeons from a fairly low level so wouldn't it make sense to have a tanking options that could be practised from low levels? If you have to choose a dps or healer until level 50 then there's no surprise that tanks are few and far between. I would argue that if you could level a tank from the beginning the numbers might well increase.

I'm by no means an expert or a pro, since I'm a filthy casual with subpar performance, but would like to provide a little feedback on the CP setup there. From what I know, the actual values for CP are rounded down to their integer values. So for Warlord, 18,75% would be 18%. Either lower it to 48 (18,24% which is effectively the same 18%) or raise it to 51, to get 19%. Similarly Mooncalf at 50 (11,25%) has the same effect as at 49 (11,10%), which is 11%. The differences are smalls, but some small gains can be had there. The only nodes with correct values I've seen were Blessed, Thaumaturge, and Spell Shield and Piercing, since there's no rounding down with those numbers. Also, Critical hits only apply in PvP, since mobs/bosses in PvE content do not use critical hits at all. So, if you're looking to build a PvE tank, the 15 points in Resistance don't help you, and are better used filling those gaps you left in other nodes. Other than that, nice build. Do appreciate the content. Might be nice to look into if I ever pick up a tank.

if I want to level as new player but as tank, what guide do I follow? Like, before I reach end game, how can I tank? As I understand it, you can go to dungeons at lvl 10 onwards? I loved leveling in WoW as Tank because I could just do Dungeons... I will probably make 3 characters for each role :D unlike FFXIV :( where one character can do one build or GW2 where most professions can do most roles (like in gw2 soft roles are boon generation / healing / tanking / dps)
I know I’m a bit late for a question, but could you specify whether or not someone can obtain armor sets multiple times? I’ve searched this up before, but I couldn’t find a definite answer. Sometimes I’m scared to pick up set-pieces because I’m only Lvl 20 and I don’t want to ruin a set that I could obtain at a higher level and utilize better.
Will this control a boss like medusa I see so many tanks not be able hold her using the taunts Tanks I seen hold her in place told me it's their gear they using that pulls her to them not the taunts from skill lines

hi... sry to say that but if any tank in my group uses leap,reinforced and this monsterset.... gets a kick! u new to this and maybe u have to learn a bit more about the mechanics and tanking itself. leap let the adds fly away... take blood spawn as monsterset medium helmet and light shoulder.... reinforced? big parts infused smal ones sturdy.... or all parts sturdy maybe better for tanking beginners....and use the horn for ultimate! ebon is a gut starter set. take torugs if u dont have gold or the opportunity to run other dungeons. u can buy Crest of Cyrodiil at the trading guilds.... plz start as a TANK ,not as a tank who wants to be a dps.... PLZ. taunt,debuff and pull the adds together. thats ur job. .... and run dungeons from dusk till dawn ;-) ,practice makes u better not builds. i hope nobody feels attacked, i only want to help.
Yeah your comments come off a tad terse. However I could really use experienced help on my new tank. How the heck do I get the adds to me without an aoe taunt? Spamming inner fire ain't getting the job done. I feel really inexperienced when I'm chasing adds from dps and maintaining bosses... Currently considering farming tormentors with aoe charge attack
if u r a dk use your chains to pull. pull. taunt pull.taunt...... any other class can use the skill from fighter guild. sturdy armor and skill cost reduction on neck and rings should work.
people that refuse to move beyond the boundary of dps are the kind of people that think everyone around them cares how much damage they're doing 🤣 like bro, nobody gives a shit. we either clear the content or we don't.
Basically you just don’t have a massive rotation as a tank like a dps would. If you’re constantly pressing buttons you’ll run out, most of the time as a tank you’re just refreshing your debuffs and buffs, immobilising groups, and if there’s an elite you’ll taunt. Your goal is just to control the battlefield so there’s downtime to do light attacks and watch if any enemies split from the group. Compared to a dps, a dps will generally be rotating through their optimal rotation constantly.
Tanks are better off as a second character, same thing goes for healers. Not only is the levelling process 3x as long but the combat as a tank while doing solo content is ridiculously boring and slow. Idk if you’ve continued playing at all but try Templar, i find them to be fun and very strong for solo content.

Why are you calling this "Beginner" if you're running at 64 Attribute points, and CP810? That's not Beginner. Beginner would be, at a minimum, up to level 50, and no CPs. Extremely misleading title.
Healing is the job of a healer not shields. How would a tank stay alive if he had no shields at all and the healer is too busy worrying about keeping everybody alive with heals? Specially since a healer wont have much health as it is, the healer has to rely on the tank staying alive otherwise your whole group is as good as done for..
