Easy Beginner Watercolor Paint Along: Step by Step Cotton Candy Sky (Kid Friendly) 

Thank you so much for the feedback! I have some really sweet kids that are my neighbors. They are interested in learning to paint with watercolors. So I gave each of them one of my folding art board set ups. I gave them some of my excess art supplies. The little 8 year old girl took right to it! She knew how to use it with out me having to explain it. She sat in the grass and painted a very nice chicken. She loves cotton candy skies so I wanted to make a video that she could follow along to. How did you make the kits you sent your sister and niece? I didn’t have three of the same palettes, I had to give them different ones. I gave one my old Windsor and Newton Cotman palette and another an Altoids tin with half pans and the other the palette that I used in this video. I was so happy to be able to fan the spark of creativity for those kids. I hope your family enjoys this video! I hope you have a good week!

@@kimberlyhyltonart awe that's SO sweet and obviously the will be SO loved!! I think the same, its just so awesome to give someone a way to try art, in whatever form, then there's no pressure, they could fall in love right away and the sweet lil' girl did...and imagine what she'll be able to do getting such an early start!! I love making art pkgs as gifts sometimes as much as making the art itself :) and its different for different friends....a couple older friends didn't want the stress of having to come up with something to draw or paint (they said they didn't know how so didn't want them to be more anxious), so after one had surgery, another an illness, etc, when they were laid up I made pkgs with the beautiful coloring books and markers and colored pencils....an assortment to see what they liked. For my family, lots of times for friends I just make them out of altoids tins...but I had saved these 3 tins that held tea, and each one, color & type of tea, kinda worked for each of us so used my empty pans and just how I normally out them together. Then make a medium watercolor book, and drew and inked a couple simple drawings on a couple pages so they could have something to just color in without the stress of coming up with something. Tie them up all together and it's just a simple gift that let's them try watercolor without the stress of spending on it or even more so trying to figure out what to buy for each thing. I've done the same thing basically for a bunch of kids of friends of mine, but for the watercolors, since most were young, I just bought like the Crayola simple watercolor set and then the rest the same along with having their names drawn on each book and drawing whatever their favorite animal or flower or whatever was. Some probably just forget its there after our day together playing with it and that's ok, but I know some had tons of fun with it and kept painting which is awesome since that's the whole goal, just to introduce people to art. Things I'd have loved to have gotten as a kid so when I'm able to do it for other's it makes me so happy to do it :) Such a sweet thing you did for those kids :) they'll remember that forever ;) and I think that whether it's just a basic little kit, or all sorts of different tins or different things to hold the paint, it's all appreciated and fun to all have different types of things :) so sweet of you to do ;) I wish I could figure out a way to afford to just make fun personalized gift packages for people...art and otherwise. So fun to just make people smile :) I'm sure they will enjoy it! It's super fun and you break it down very easily too which is great! Great job!!

@@jadedenthusiasms thank you so much! I love the little Altoids tins as palettes! I was thinking that watercolor coloring books would be good gifts. But, It wouldn't be too hard to draw some simple images on watercolor paper and make little personalized watercolor color coloring pages. I was even thinking of getting or making watercolor postcard size papers with drawings on them. That's a great idea you gave me! I think the act of giving is good for the spirit. It felt so good to be able to give the gift of art to those kids. It is a blessing to see people smile! The little girl followed along with this paint along and sent me a photo of her painting. She did an amazing job! It was so beautiful and looked almost just like the one I made. I thought that was really awesome!

@@kimberlyhyltonart oh good, you're welcome :) its something I've done for a long time, even when I couldn't draw well. Especially the coloring books with watercolors or markers. But I love the personalized ones. Had family friends and each kid had different favorite animals, so it was fun drawing those and they were shocked to have something with pages made just for them. Giving is the best!!! Pulls you out of your own junk and reminds you of what's truly important and seeing smiles and knowing they have fun with it is the best :)🥰
