Hello, I hope you are having a fun and creative week! I have had two busy days, one was filming for RU-vid and the other was hosting virtual sew dates. I just want you to know that I enjoy your content very much and love to sit with my hand quilting and watch. Thank you for sharing your time and talent.

Thank you. The binding has always intimidated me. You make this look easy for a beginner like me.

Thank you for doing this video. It has been a few years since I have had to bind a quilt and I desperately needed a refresher course. I liked the way you joined the binding - I haven't seen it done like that. You made it look easy - great visual and directions.

Thank you for your demonstration. I've watched several other RU-vid videos recently on this subject. I do believe I've been using the stitch in the ditch /edge foot incorrectly. This morning I will experiment first and then finished the last step! Marion

I’ve used my stitch in the ditch foot along the edge of the binding for many years, it does make it easier. As a quilter if many decades, you should always fold the side you are going to turn to first in your mitred corner, then the side you are sewing, basically opposite to what you show in the video. This will make much cleaner corners and not leave them folded in what is referred to as a snout lol.

I’m a super newbie. But I watched another tutorial where they began by attaching the binding tape the way you did, but on the FRONT of the quilt. Then pressed it out and used lots of clips to fold it over to the back and hold it in place. Finally, they used the edge stitch foot to “stitch in the ditch” right NEXT to the binding on the front which didn’t leave a sewn line on the binding, but it caught the binding tape on the BACK of the quilt. It looked so clean! Im working on my very first quilt now and am very close to the binding step. Thank you for your tutorials. 🤗

That's a great method to use if you want it to look hand sewn. It's a little more time intensive, but can look fantastic!

That‘s exactly what I do if Ido not find the time to handstitch. No visible seam on the front of the binding.👍🏻

Are you referring to the extension table? That one came with the sewing machine. I would start by checking with your local dealer to see if there are some made specifically for your sewing machine. If not, I know that there are people that make them to fit different machines. I'd google sewing machine extension table to find them.

Thank you for showing this in real time so we know it's not a race. Does the back stitch fall in the ditch on the back of the quilt? or is it a straight line on top of the binding? Assuming you would match the top and bobbin threads to the binding color?

We do match the thread top and bobbin to the binding, cause that's where we want it to blend in. You are going to see a straight line of stitches on the back, it doesn't fall in the seam. It just blends with the rest of the quilting though and doesn't bother us.

It would be more complete if you would show us the reverse side of the binding stitch after it's complete. TY

Where is the needle hitting? Looks like it is next to the binding, not on
