WOODPECKERS SHELF PIN & DRAWER SLIDE TEMPLATE:
www.woodpeck.c...
Woodpeckers Shelf Pin & Drawer Slide Template gives you two ways to bore the holes, two different hole spacings, two different hole sizes, perfect alignment for both 32mm frameless cabinets and face frame designs, and the ability to work with either installed cabinets or new construction. Even if you love the tool, you probably don't want to watch a video showing EVERYTHING it can do...so in this 18-minute video Jeff Farris takes you into his shop, shows you the highlights and then narrows it down to 32mm-spaced 5mm holes in a small bookcase he's building.

Great conditions tools and outcome. Looking forward to videos with less friendly "real-life" challenges with this tool saving the day.

Always a great presentation, extremely well put together. Only downside is now I must have one.

Thanks for doing these tutorials! I would love to see you use the drawer slide function in an upcoming video. Keep up the great work.

That's been mentioned a couple times, so look for it soon.

Tuned in to get this exact question answered. I have the older black phenolic jig. Very pleased with it, but I'm not maximising it.

Jeff, do you folks have a camera in my garage? I just invested in the Festool LR-32 system; your system matches up well for someone that doesn't do production work. I wish I had looked this over a bit closer. I agree, the 5mm drawer slide system is a well-designed setup. You should have also shown how to drill for 5mm cabinet hinges. Thanks, Chuck.

Dave Jones calls his whiteboard or paper electronics diagrams "Dave CAD". Maybe we've witnessed the birth of "Jeff CAD" here? :)

I just purchased this jig and was very impressed by the quality. I drilled my first set of shelf pins yesterday and the results were dead on accurate. I do have one question, since I don't own a plunge router, I purchased the Snappy 5mil drill bit that was listed. While it worked great, I did experience tear out while drilling many of the shelf pin holes in the plywood carcass. Is there a way or technique that can be used to prevent this? Previously, I had been using the Kreg shelf pin jig, but wanted something more accurate. With the Kreg drill bit, tear out was also a problem, but this was easily resolved by "pre-drilling" the holes with the drill in reverse. This would score the plywood and when the hole was drilled normally, you would get a clean hole with zero tear out. I tried this with the Woodpeckers jig and the Snappy drill bit, but the drill bit would unscrew and come apart, so this was not an option. Any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated. Otherwise, I was very impress and happy with the quality of the jig and results.

Can you fit a 7mm bit in your bushing?

Where can I buy the Festool router "special" adapter for the template guide bushing(s)?

Jeff were you actually using a drill bit in the router or was it a spiral upcut router bit?

I used a special bit from Festool that looks like a brad point drill bit, but it is designed for the speed and power of a router. What comes with the jig is a solid carbide upcut spiral router bit.

No one should laugh at your drawing because you used chalk. I ran into 5 mm pins for the first time modifying an IKEA shelf unit. There are also the reinforcement pin sleeves which are spec’d for a 7/32” hole. Necessary for IKEA (but why is the hole size Imperial?). Thanks for the video!

The video should not mention the drawer slide template if you're not going to show how to use that aspect of the jig.

Too much for one video. We'll do another one, just on the drawer slide function.
