I think this recipe is underrated...these cookies are tasty and very easy to make. I made mine and decorated them for Halloween with dark and white chocolate. Left them overnight on the kitchen counter for the chocolate to solidify. Cookies were still delicious after a week in an airtight container stored in a cold place.

Looks realy yummy, I've got my pecan and Brazil nut shortbread in the oven as I'm typing this, the fragrance of the vanilla extract in the mix and as it's cooking is amazing,it headed three med sized heart shaped cookies, two more hatches to go in the oven,, I know it's going to have a very fast death, it don't last too long in our home!!!! Tried these this week, and they are YUMMY! I prefer crisp cookies, so I eliminated the water -- came out absolutely Perfect -- yes, with a capital P. Very rich, so it's easy to put the brakes on kids' overindulgences. Kudos for another fabulous recipe.

I made these in 3 batches with the same dough, but the first time i took it out they were a bit harder (not chewy) so i took them out earlier the second time and theyre chewy and fluffy, and the third time i forgot again so its crispy, so i guess you just gotta take it out after 12 minutes instead of 15mins was better for me.. Hi Kitty ! So glad you tried out my recipe ! and yes.... it's amazing how just 2 minutes difference in baking time changes cookies so drastically. It also depends on the person's oven. All ovens will differ with exact temp.... so you can set it for 350 degees F for example, and test 5 ovens and they will all be slightly different. Some also may use convection mode ( forced fan ) - if they have that type of oven ( much more expensive ) and this will reduce oven baking time by a good 5 minutes. Super glad you were able to have success with one of the batches. Please do make a note somewhere on a piece of paper about your perfect time in the oven in case you ever make these again. Hi Wanda, it can, but chewyness can be due to the amount of fat ( oil or butter or vegetable shortening ) used in a recipe. If you buy cookies from your local grocery store and they are super moist, you can be 100% sure that the amount of "fat" used in the recipe is a lot. Manufacturers do this to keep cookies and cakes moist for a longer time, in combination with chemicals. At home - you can bake for a shorter time, this will ensure you have a cookie on the more chewy side of things. The longer you bake cookies or cake, the more moisture is removed from them, and in the case of cookies, this happens in just minutes - just 2 minutes longer in your oven can really change the texture of a cookie. Want chewy cookies ? bake less time, want more of a crisp cookie ? bake them a bit longer. I hope this helps ! Hi Liz, usually when the cookies are baking, you wouldn't want to open the oven, remove the cookies and interrupt the baking process. If you wish to add granulated sugar on the tops, do it *before* you place the cookies into the oven. I do have a few videos of me doing that process here on RU-vid. If you see cookies with little different colored sprinkles on top.... these cookies have been baked, cooled and then a little bit of frosting would be applied with a knife, or spatula, then those little sprinkles are applied, the frosting allows the sprinkles to be applied.
