Dang man that's a awesome bait tank setup, I took a old refrigerator and sealed it up, laid it on its back, and made a pump and filter system for it and keep it in my garage and keep my bait in it, and when I need bait I just get the net and scoop them out the refrigerator and throw'em in a 5 gallon bucket with a bubble box aerator.

A old 2-3 gallon water cooler works great too. Just pop the spout out and drill a top hole. I had mine rigged with bungee cords to keep the lid down, but still be able to reach in. Also had a pump that was plumed through the scupper hole for fresh water, and it just poured out the top of the tank back out the scupper holes.

this might just be the best thing ive ever seen. im about to buy a oldtown 120 pdl and i think this would keep keeper fish alive like crapie, bass and walleye

That was a great idea. I would not have thought of using a small rubber trash can. Great video. One thought, in stead of using a battery at home, you may have an old 110V AC to 12V DC transformer plug lying around that would allow you to plug it into the wall. Usually small electronic use these transformers to reduce the voltage I got mine from an old internet router I was not using anymore.

I fish out of state for flatheads sometimes and find that using an insulated cooler works well for most species (bream, bass, perch) overnight. I just drill two small holes to feed a pair of aerator tubes into the top, then fill with water and fish and apply a some bait keeper and that will suffice for a day. The fish go in some floating minnow buckets when I get to the river / lake and I can either tow them along or put them on the kayak with an occasional dunk until I get to my spot.

That’s a pretty cool setup I keep bait pretty much all year around I just keep a fifty gallon barrel with two air bubblers and just throw a couple dozen minnows in a bucket with a battery air bubbler and bring that with me fishin and I use a local spring for water and it’s ice cold all year around and I can keep bait for months at a time just wish I had a easier way to change the water out

Another option for the battery is a motorcycle battery. I bought one on Amazon and have been using it for my fish finder and have had no problems. It has plenty of juice and will run 2 or 3 trips on 1 charge. I think I paid $15 - $20 for it. I also used on a small riding mower before. i

My neighbor operates a pool maintenance service. He gets a pool chemical in an approximately 10 gal hard plastic can with a screw on lid. We use those for bait tanks.

I use the drifter bait tanks. But I only use live bait ice fishing and the odd time going for walleyes. Awesome idea tho

You would need a bigger tank with frequent water changes

Another tip - change about 10-25% of the water every day, otherwise the ammonia builds up without a charcoal filter.

Hey man, I know this isn't your fault, and that there's nothing you can do about it, but every time I check to see if you have a new vid posted, I find that the dipshits at RU-vid have taken it upon themselves to unsubscribe me. Not a big deal since I know to look for it, but I thought others might be experiencing this and could possibly not realize that they're being unsubscribed. Like I said, it may be no big deal, but you work pretty dam hard putting out great content, and I'd hate to think you might be losing subs that don't even know they're getting dropped. You add just a little salt to your water ( bait tank) for the shad? That’s suppose to help with the shad , keeping them alive, and helps with the slime coat or something, that don’t hurt any other baitfish either, you just gotta know how much salt to add to the size bait tank you use! That’s what I’ve heard a lot of the professional guides and that talk about, the ones who use shad and stuff for bait ( Live shad)! But no more than how many shad you keep, you probably don’t even need any salt! I don’t know Justin, might be worth checking into...?!?!
