I'll show you how to create a simple DIY cement pot from a ball or some interesting garden art focal pieces. These are two very simple and fast cement craft ideas. You can make your own homemade cement pot in only an hour. The cement ball pictured can be turned upside down and used as a pot. And the rope balls look fantastic if you can start off with quite a large one then add another 2 of differing sizes and group them together. The balls used are $2, and you can find the exercise balls and others for free on marketplace.
These homemade cement ideas can be painted any colour you choose, I just worked with what I had available although I think the red looks great, Like a big ball of yarn!! The ball looks good when left natural and allowed to weather naturally, you can also use the way I've coloured this ball and the technique of making the ball, except over a randomly shaped object, to create lightweight artificial rocks for the garden.
A tip for making the rope balls significantly stronger is to soak the rope in a mixture of 50/50 water and bonding agent/polymer/external grade pva for 10 minutues before mixing in the cement...... Here we use a product called bondcrete.
Thanks for watching and please subscribe, like and share so I can make more videos.

Very cool. Do you have any guidance on how long they last? From your video it looks like you don't have winter to deal with?

a lot of people dont have the option or space to do so, not sure what this has to do with the video idea but thanks for contributing i guess?

This was so helpful. Thank you. If I used the mesh tape technique on an exercise ball, can you give me an idea of how much weight it would hold? If I made 3 balls and laid a round piece of plywood on top (around 3 feet diameter) to make a table, would they be strong enough to hold? In your opinion, no liability.

Thanks, I'm not sure how much it would hold, sorry, but I'm 85kgs and can stand on the ball.... guess it depends how many layers you do

Ok that gives me an idea of the strength. Thanks for responding.

Is it not necessary to cure the concrete for a month while keeping wet as is needed for other larger concrete projects?

@@zacdaddiy8195Thank you so much for your response. I am getting closer and closer to being able to make these myself! So excited! Two more questions: 1. Would regular Elmer's glue or carpenters glue mixed with water help make it stronger? 2. How on earth did you keep the rope from slipping off the ball? I have been thinking about this for a long time and I always picture the rope sliding off and causing extreme frustration.

Just realized I could slow down the video and I saw the answer to question 2-you tied it then pushed the ball down to sort of push back on the rope when you let it go!
