I was able to cut through my faux leather with glitter htv already on it by using the canvas setting and the rotary blade with more pressure. It usually cuts through all the way the first time but only once I had to do a double cut. I put the faux leather face down on strong grip mat with tape. It was faux leather I ordered from Amazon. I love your yellow stripe one!
Thank you so much…….I will use the sharpie trick from now on… I use my Cricut paper cutter to make these with little to no waist. I really enjoy your videos. I also want to thank you for all the free SVG’s. 😊
Hi, Irene! Thank you so much for your comment. I'm glad you found the Sharpie trick helpful! I use it a lot. Thanks again for letting me know you enjoy my videos and my designs. You made my day!
I really enjoy your videos . Top notch instructions its Fob ulous ..I would love a video on how to personalize them as well ... Thank you for inspiring us !!!
Yay to this! I accidentally bought several sheets of HTV vinyl and this may be just what I need to do to use it! Thank you so much for an excellent tutorial of how to do this. I am new with a Cricut Joy. Please do the variations video!!!
Hi, Joanna! Thank you so much for your comment. I can't wait to hear about what you make with all of that heat transfer vinyl. I have a video on cutting faux leather with the Cricut Joy that you may want to check out - here's the link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nESQVl75M5w.html
Thank you for a great video. I was making these for an event and now plan to use your tips and techniques moving forward! I especially love the Sharpie tip!
My pleasure! I don't, but I do show two ways to double side faux leather in this video on how to put a back on faux leather earrings. In techniques #3 and #4 I show how to glue the faux leather pieces together and also use Heat n' Bond to bond them together. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Q1IK6EfA6c8.html
Would definitely love to see an additional video, your tutorials are always fun & fully detailed. Can you also do a name cut out faux leather keychain? E.g MOM or AMY 💖🎀
Hi. Thanks so much for the video! If I’m planning on making the same item from the leather, can I iron on a sheet of the htv onto a full sheet of the leather?
Hi, Monique! Yes, you can! I would use an EasyPress or traditional heat press in that case (instead of the EasyPress Mini) so you get really good, even pressure and heat. Also be sure to press again after you peel off the clear transfer sheet from the vinyl just to be sure the vinyl has adhered really well to the back of the faux leather.
Wow love love love!!! I can’t wait to try these! I found you a couple days ago and I have been watching all your videos! I can’t wait to try them all Thank you for sharing and being so helpful I’m new to the Cricut so this just amazing 🤩
I was so excited to see your hack about the Sharpie, I just discovered the same thing today before sitting down to your video. Also, the projects you're doing are right in line with what I've been working on ☺️. In reading about you on your blog site, we are probable kindred spirits! Lol Thanks for clearly explained and cleanly executed videos, I'm a subscriber now.
Hi, Michelle! Thank you so much for your sweet comment! It sounds like we are crafting buddies for sure! I can't wait to hear about what else you create.
Hi, Amy! I am gathering my supplies for some wristlets. I wondered, is it OK to do some with the HTV on the outside? I have some gorgeous patterned HTV that might be fun. But if it will not hold up on the outside of the wristlet......
I'm so goad, Deanna! Do you mean the original Explore? Yes, as long as you can make custom material settings and you can choose Faux Leather as your cutting material in Cricut Design Space. I would follow my instructions in the video for the Explore Air 2. Let me know if you get stuck along the way. :)
You can, but I find cutting a whole sheet at once (especially for beginners) can lead to problems with the cuts. If you are experienced at making single cuts and getting great results with your specific material, you can definitely do that.
@@AmyRomeu ok thank you for replying. do you know if you can cut the leather on an explore air 2? and if so what setting and blade? (sorry if you said this in the video i watched it the other day and dont remember now and cant watch it again bc i'm currently at work lol)
Yes! That works great for making multiples. In this video I wanted to show making one wristlet at a time, so I pressed the vinyl onto the back of one piece of faux leather and then cut the wristlet shape with the Cricut. :)
Hi, Ivonne! I would use some flat nose pliers and gently try to pry open the jaws of the keyfob clamp from each side. You can wrap the clamp with a paper towel first to keep the pliers from marking up the metal clamp.
Thanks for letting me know, Renee! I do have a tutorial on how to add personalized text to a faux leather wristlet on my blog here: amyromeu.com/personalized-cricut-faux-leather-key-fob-wristlet/
Thanks for the tutorial! I made some wristlets before and put HTV on the back but it got kind of wrinkly. Is there a better type of HTV I should use or is this inevitable?
Hi, Emily! Thanks for your comment. I find that pressing multiple times (after each step as I show in the video) really helps cut down on wrinkles, but I think some small wrinkling right at the curve may be inevitable.
Hi, Karla! I don't have the Explore One, but if it has the standard fine point blade and you are able to select the material setting of Faux Leather (Paper Thin) in Design Space, then yes, it can work. Please let me know if you try it!
Hi, Mary! Thanks for your comment. The HTV on the back is optional, but it does a few things. It makes the back look more finished and not just the material backing, it adds a little more structure to the faux leather, and it can add some interest or a pop of color to the inside of the wristlet. :)
Hi, for vinyl on faux leather I use 265 degrees for a regular EasyPress in 10 second bursts of time. I check to see if the vinyl is adhered well, then press again in 5 second chunks of time as needed. Same thing for EasyPress Mini - I use the Low setting. :)
Hi, Erin! Thanks for your message. Do you mean making this key fob double sided with faux leather? I use glue and press the keychain under something heavy so it dries really well. This video isn't about the exact same keychain, but it's another fold over keychain and you can see how I glue it together: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-h_v8CBg4yy4.html

Hi, thanks for your comment. You are certainly able to adjust the settings for your own cuts. For beginners, I recommend cutting one shape at a time to learn how the machine cuts and to troubleshoot any issues that come up. I also like to leave room for painter's tape on the edges. But you can absolutely do what works best for you!
