ok carpentar for 30 years. This is a great beginner project and well illustrated. One critique.You don't need to use 2x6 for the shelves, a 3/4 inch board will work. Also, that sucker is heavy and would be better on the floor. Glue wooden pulls ( drawer knobs for you beginners) as feet to jazz it up.
Very nice, I like a little imperfection, but then again perfect, hmmm. I liked the clean look of this design, no legs or center vertical separation pieces, but then again, I am a minimalist at heart.
You could leave the front wood in the slot and notch out the same area in the shelf so it hides the joint all together. More work to remove material since you can't do full passes with the saw, but you will have "perfect" joints.
Has anyone built this one yet? I’m looking to do something similar where it’s just 3-4 book shelves fastened to the wall studs. Didn’t want legs making contact w/the floor.

I'm only a few seconds in but I loved the way you just started the video by showing what power tools you need to do this project. I've watched so many videos now that casually expect you to have a huge workshop full of expensive tools rather than an old boiler cupboard and a foldable workbench like most DIYers who fancy having a go at woodwork.
I didn`t plan to use this woodworking book, “Bαzοmο Tdy Plαn” (Google it) but instead curious about it. I was truly impressed after trying it. I was trying to find out more about the art of wood working, and was not disappointed. I found many topics such as wood types as well as designing your workshop. .
This woodworking book t.co/z6o0f8z2H4 contains a great deal of details about woodwork. There are some designs in the book but it is primarily explaining the procedure of how to do various things and what tools to use to accomplish them. In general, this book fulfilled my basic desire to learn about wood working.?
T Wozniak if it’s the only project you ever do, yeah I guess. You’re probably not that into DIY. OTOH, a drill, a saw, & a sander come in pretty useful around here for all kinds of projects.

Soooo the entire thing is supported by the top shelf, which is only attached with 2 screws on each end and no actual wood contact.... You know that is horrible design right? You are using just the sheer strength of the screws to hold everything. Ok for lightweight, but this is hazardous and teaching bad practices.
I have a problem with all these "beginner projects". All of you have tons of power tools. I have a hammer, screwdrivers, stuff like that. I don't know how people think "beginners" are going to fork out hundreds of dollars for these tools in the 1st place. You are really not a beginner at that point if you have all these tools...
