Awesome craftmanship. I built myself a secret compartment but never thought about fingerprint access. Way cool. One suggestion if I may. Instead of fingerpring in plane site I would reverse it and mount the fingerprint scanner in the back underneath so no one would know more than they need. But again...awesome creativity.

Only real problem is that the fingerprint lock should've been recessed in the bottom of the top leaf there that's overhanging. It's not really a hidden compartment when you can see the door, so to speak.
@JeffersonRah

Thanks for the tutorial! I certainly understand why the price of lower quality premade tables are so expensive. It's like building guns or reloading ammunition... It's having the right tools to do a quality job first. If you're only going to use them once then buying a premade is cheaper than buying a wood shop, but if you plan to make more then it's worth the investment so you can make it how you want it!

A good way to raise the top is to take you some small metal thumbtacks and put one in each corner, that way when you set your top on it it will hold it up off of there enough and also the top will slide across the top of the thumbtack really well.

Brilliant Design. One thing I might do is figure out a way to waterproof the bottom side of the tabletop. Wood will expand and retract depending on climate and create voids for liquids to make their way through. Coffee tables are prone for drink spills and would stink to have sticky or water damaged items inside.

You might want to put a strip under the drawer slide to hide the metal on the sides, and you could put the finger print reader on the bottom of the drawer so it is hidden. The ones I've used make you orient your finger a particular way, so you have to record several fingers in different orientations so it works when you need it. Too bad they don't have the processor power to rotate the finger print to check for a match but they are cheap.

I think that this table would be awesome if the top opened like a hinged lip up and had like armor plating on the non visible side to use as a shield when getting your weapons out

Now if i could figure out a way to hide the finger print sensor then it would be perfect. Cuz hiding the fact that it’s even got a lock would eliminate the possibility of someone thinking somethings inside.

They make certain locks that are magnetic where you need to rest something on the lock in order for it to open, and completely stealthy.

Dope idea and execution, but a word of warning for any SHTF type DIYers, if exposed to an emp, those electronic locks are all gonna fail. Make sure you have a manual method to unlock, magnets or key or something like that
@blackedout000
@blackedout000 2 года назад
If an EMP goes off getting that gun out is the least of your worries.
@716Flat4
@716Flat4 2 года назад
@@blackedout000 agreed, but it does not have to be an act of war, it can occur naturally and can be an unfortunate result of living near certain industrial electrical components frequently used in our grid. And while yes, their are plenty of things to be worried about if either event occurs, the fact is that being able to access one of those firearms quickly could be the difference between life and death. The reason people who DIY for SHTF exist is because of being in a heightened state of preparedness. Adding a manual way to unlock this is simply logical.

Now you're talkin. This is fucking smart. Regardless of anyone's POV on guns, this is super clever. Think about it. Where's the most likely place you'll be sitting if someone comes to your house and does a home invasion. You'll likely be watching TV late at night. Damn son.

Really cool man, my skeet shooting buddy made a key fob false closet door in his hallway that looks like it's just kind of like a picture and decor stand that is inset into the wall about 4 inches, and then the whole thing is a door that opens and he has all his gun safe and everything in there. Pretty awesome
