Easy DIY MINI Plants Using 'Slime' NO BAKE Soft Clay

Materials and Timings Below!
I Wanted to Use Something Different to Make Miniature Plants Instead of Polymer Clay, Air Drying Clay or Paper. This Clay is Meant to be Used to Make Slime. Room Temperature Might Change the Consistency of the Clay. You Can Try Testing Tiny Pieces First to See How the Clay Behaves (Leave to Dry for a Minute etc.)
I Loved Using the Soft Clay Because of its Texture and it Dried Soft and Flexible. I Used the Clay 'Fresh' and Also After it Had Dried for a While ( It Stayed Malleable but less Sticky ). Finished Leaves I Left to Dry Over Night.
The Clay is Easy to Use and the Stickiness Works Like Glue ( Making the Succulents and the Jade Plant ) but Can be Very Frustrating When you Can't Undo any Mistakes After Sticking Parts Together.
To Paint the Plants, I Used Acrylic Paint. For the Pots / Containers I Used old Bottle Caps and Balsa Wood and Painted with Acrylic Paint and Gold Paint.
To create a Matte and Shiny Plants, I Used Mod Podge Matte and Gloss Finish Sealers.
I Also Used Florist Wire and Florist Tape to Make the Plant Leaves. For the Peace Lily spadix (green or off-white spike of flowers in the Middle of the Flower), I Used Silicone Dental Floss Sticks.

This popped up in my feed somehow and I watched because of the novelty. I've never seen anyone use slime to make flowers - had no idea that was possible because I thought slime was - well, like slime - slippery and wet. So, this must be some kind of new slime because it seemed more like a very soft air dry clay. Now, as an artist, it's clear that you put a LOT of time and work into these flowers and I have to give you credit for that - for trying something new. I'm just not sure that, for me, the slime clay gives the crispness and the level of detail that I would want in my plants. It seems rather thick and pillowy for delicate leaves that are most plants. My favorite of the lot were the succulents, I guess, because they're kind of thick in real life so they translated better with that clay. You def get an A+ for trying something new and being creative.

Thank you! 💕Much appreciate your comment. I do agree that it might not give that crispiness of what you can get from other clays but I do like that it gives the puffiness that other clays don't. I want to give my viewers of all abilities options, so that they can try these things themselves and possibly think of other uses for it. You should check out my video where I make Stargazer lilies from 'Bread and Glue' 😄 I am certainly not an expert and just started making miniatures a year ago. I am still a novice but learning as I go along and loving the mistakes and successes. 😊

I don't think I have seen this type of clay before (if I have, I probably assumed it was like plasticene or something) Thanks for showing us all about it, your plants look so great! The plant pots were really cool too

Gorgeous! Wow! Do you think this same type of no bake clay would do as well for miniature foods - cakes, cookies, etc? Also, after it has dried overnight and is painted, etc., is it quite firm or does it always stay a bit soft/pliable? If it’s firm, does it break easily? Many thanks! Again - beautiful job! Kathleen
@tinycraftlife
@tinycraftlife 4 месяца назад
Thank you!! 😊💕 Great questions! I think it would work for making food items. I was also thinking of trying to make cakes, pastries etc. (possible video coming up). The clay seems to stay slightly spongy when completely dry. I did bend a couple of the plant leaves but they were flexible and didn't break or change shape so very good really. I also like that fact that after drying, it's still malleable and you can attach the fresh clay to it. I just can't remember for how long I left the clay to dry 🤔 possibly 30 mins to an hour. Depending of course of the thickness of the clay. The clay is also very light. I really enjoyed using this clay and will use it again. I'm also thinking of trying different paints/Mica powder/ink etc. and see how they work. Hope this helps and if you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask 💕💕

Can't wait to try this...the dried clay seems to take the paint well, allowing more detail. Thank you.

You are very welcome! 😊💕It really was a surprise using this clay. I think it's meant to be used to make slime 😄 I like the fact that the paint seeped in the grooves and gave the leaves more dimension. I used acrylic paint but also diluted the paint with water. I assume other paints or even ink might work as well. I did seal the leaves with mod podge after painting as I noticed small parts of the paint had come off.

These are amazing. Your anthurium turned out so real looking! Where did you get that “slime” clay? I might try making plants with Cosclay polymer clay. It stays flexible after baking and can be painted. I made some plants with masking tape, glue and green permanent markers. They turned out pretty well, but I have to make a ton more plants. I’ll try anything at least once. I’d like to give your method a try. Nice job!

I also did get those spider webs. Not sure if the temperature makes a difference? Maybe you can test and let a tiny piece of clay dry for a moment before using it. That might help a bit 💕
