A cheap easy water tank that requires no electric pump no air compressor and isn’t gravity fed and only costs about 50$ to make and anyone can do it

I like it. I'm gonna give it a try, with the addition of a schrader valve.

FYI, my calculations make it roughly 9 gallons. Great build!

If its 4" diameter and 75" length, it is only a little more than 3.5 gal. 4" diameter holds 0.6528gal/ft! Google it! For $50 you can get two 5gal shower bags that you can hang anywhere in the sun to heat it up. His is inside an enclosed pickup bed that will not heat up. Also the way he fills it up with the pressure from the house spigot leaves air in the tube as he noted so the volume is even less. Another problem is using the house water pressure to fill it up does not let you know what pressure is built up. Depending on where you live, average house pressure is around 40 psi which is way too high for the PVC (think exploding shars of sharp PVC flying at you) and the water coming out would not last long - maybe 2-3 mins at most if not regulated.

its so easy to drive up to a spigot and pull out a long hose, great tip this makes water collection a breeze in urban areas

No problem.. do yourself a favor and put a valve stem in there so so you can pressurize it with air.. it’ll have better pressure all the way till it’s empty
@oliverpolden
@oliverpolden Год назад
Assuming a water pressure of 5 bar, the volume of air would be reduced to 1/5 of its original volume if I’m correct, so the tank would only be 80% full. So to calculate the amount of water it will hold, you need to multiply the volume by 80%. That would be reasonable. Any lower mains pressure and you’re really going to want a release to fill it more and then a valve to top up the pressure. An intuitive guess, I would say the pressure at 20% would be pretty low.

Just dont let it sit in the sun .did this for a guys taco truck and painted it black went all the way around the roof and made really hot water untill it couldn't take the psi and went (POW) but rebuilt it and installed a psi release valve no more problem

I did this exactly what he did and there was so much air pressure that my front cap blew off man that was loud and a close one I had to ad a pressure valve

great idea! I also thought you had a great idea on adding a tire valve. I've seen people build adapters down to a input valve, but if you just drilled a hole the correct size, you could pull a rubber valve stem thru and have a good seal and it would be way cheaper. The wall thickness might cause a problem but that would have to be looked at.

They also make metal bolt it valve stems for high pressure truck tires.

I have 69 Scamper 16 ft, with galvanized water tank that works on air pressure. It has a valve, identical to a tire valve, so I pressurize it with a small 12v air compressor. I love it. As long as it's pressurized, I have running water. No need for electricity.

hello, first, nice and clean set up. What size is that pvc pipe and have you calculated or figured out how many gallons your tank holds. I am asking because I do primitive camping and I too use river water but treat the water with drops of bleach. Thank you
@brokenpoortradingco
@brokenpoortradingco 3 года назад
It’s 6 inch pipe I’m not sure on the capacity it will depend on the length you make it.
@the_bencredible
@the_bencredible 3 года назад
His 6” diameter by 75” long pipe will hold roughly 9.18 gallons. Keep in mind that is filling the pipe completely with water. Considering that some of the pipe will remain air filled to create pressure you will obviously not reach that 9.18 gallons, but that should give you a general idea.
@alopandur
@alopandur 2 года назад
@@the_bencredible Also, the 6" is an OD of the PVC pipe and its true diameter, depends of the pipe's wall thickens, could be 5.5"...

Ya I like the fact you don’t have to pressurize it as well it was a great build I have a camper I would like to do a video on but not sure how that works either lol I built it myself, and wanting a shower add on and your ideas were prefect for what I was looking for..
@brokenpoortradingco
@brokenpoortradingco 2 года назад
Cool.. hopefully it’ll work out good for ya.. after using it a little bit I would recommend putting a valve stem on it somewhere to pressurize it.. the water usually all comes out but if you park on a hill and use it sometimes a little bit will get stuck in there the valve just lets you pump it up to get the last little bit out
@brokenpoortradingco

I’m also gonna be building a camper in the near future.. When I get around to it I’ll make another video of a improved water tank
