Chantel, On the Friday before Memorial Day I actually bought the 3 slat sigh with the blue ribbon. I like to put up seasonal little signs by my front door. In the winter I have wooden snowmen with sticks in their hands and fishing line coming off the sticks and the bottom of the snowmen, says, "gone ice fishing". In the spring time for about 20 years I have had a wooden cow that is painted in the toll style of painting - an art form you do not hear about anymore and the cow has a small bell hooked under her neck but, my "beach corner" is now growing into other areas of my living room and when I saw this sign I thought it would be perfect for my front door area. While looking at it at the DT I had thought it would be nicer with nautical white rope as the hanger instead of the silky blue ribbon. I have left it with the sayings on it though and the 2 slats are pointing to my beach corner. I had looked at the sign too with the raised seahorse and wondered if I could pry it off but, thought knowing my luck I would pry it off and break it in the process but, I was thinking of covering the seahorse with mini shells I picked up on the beach in Sanibel, Florida this past November and I have a mini snail shell that would be good for the eye. After seeing what you did with yours I am very tempted to go back and get it but, will wait until after I pay my mortgage and get my next pay check. That day in the DT I spent the most I have ever in there. $43.01. It was Memorial Day weekend and my mom and I were house sitting at my sister's while she and her family were away. They live in a rural area of Fairfax and they have a huge TV with cable and I bought tons of goodies at the DT for the weekend for us to eat. Then in July we are going on our annual beach vacation to the family beach house and the first day there once every one arrives I always have a little gift of something nautical for every one to take home with them. I bought at the DT the hand towels with seahorses, starfish and sand dollars on them. They are plush and soft and feel so good. They had matching napkins so I bought 4 packs of them to go with each towel. They had little party box favors to match I will load up with goodies such as soft water taffy or gummy bears. Anyway, sorry this is so long but, your ideas are always so awesome - I am very intrigued on your ideas you have using simple plaques at the Dollar Tree and I definitely want to pry off the seahorse now and recreate it. I think it would be cool mounted to a piece of beveled wood but, somehow sticking off of the wood maybe by 3 inches and a snail shell eye glued to it. I think they would be cool to buy 2 of them and wrap them both with the jute string and mount them onto drift wood attached to a base and make bookends out of them and in between have books on the sea. My favorite book is Gifts Of The Sea by Anne Morrow Lindberg. So, now that summer has officially begun, I hope you have an awesome summer and happy crafting. - Rebekah in Alexandria, VA
Cute ideas...love the 'home' sign the best. Next time you use a sign like the 'love' sign, I recommend painting the red letters with white then paint your regular color. It cuts down on having to do a 3rd coat. 🏖
Love both of these and I would love more coastal/farmhouse and a combination of both that would be great you did a great job on these and now I know how I’m going to use my Sandollar🌸💖🌼🌷
This was a really good DIY! I love that you were able to use a keepsake in one of the projects, memories are so important. The way you did the sea horse made it look realistic. I think I would enjoy seeing how to make the salt dough. Your videos are really good, Thank you for sharing your creative ideas.
Those beach decor ideas are GREAT 👍 but I’m not into that style. I like country shabby chic! I really love the home sign, I like the sand dollar, and would like to see a diy to see how to make it and maybe a star fish too??? Thank you so much Chantel for these cute ideas. God bless you!!!
Thanks for your comments @DeAnne 'DeDeMarie' Hampton! I will definitely post the salt dough video and add in a starfish and maybe a couple of other shells as well. Thanks for watching and have a blessed day!
Really cute projects, happy for you that you found the original starfish. I would like to see anything coastal and how you make your salt dough sand dollar. Thank you for the share.
Your beach DIYs brings me back to the ocean that I swam in as a kid and I can almost smell the salt in the air and hear the waves crashing against the rocks. Great job! TFS
Very cute! I’d like to see how you made the salt dough sand dollar and maybe try to see if you could make a realistic looking starfish too. I’d also love to see some patriotic decor too!
Thanks for your comments @Emily Henry. I will definitely post the salt dough sand dollar video and I'll be working on some patriotic decor very soon! Thanks for watching!
So cute! Love the Sea Horse sign, I live in Florida and I'm searching for ideas for my home. I need more inspiration for coastal living! Thanks for sharing your awesome ideas!
Love this project! Great ideas for your At the Beach theme! One thing I've found to cover up anything you do not want to show through is yellow craft paint. It covers up any other color without having to use several top coats. Try it! It has always worked for me! Love your Vids! Thanks so much!
Hi @Paige Mull. My husband likes the cowboy/western decor (He's a major John Wayne fan). We need to decorate his office so maybe I'll get some western decor projects done in the future. Thank you so much for watching! Have a great day!
Hi Chantel! Absolutely love both of your diys, especially the sand dollar home sign.😍 I'm redoing my bathroom and making it beach themed. I would love to make the sand dollar sign and add it to my bathroom decor. Could you pretty please share your video on how to make the salt dough sand dollar. Thank you so much! As always take care my dear and GOD bless! 🙏🏼🤗💖👍🏼👍🏼⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Absolutely @melanie s. I will be posting the sand dollar video soon. I'm glad you liked these projects. Thanks so much for your comments and for watching! Have a blessed day!
Luv this idea. Iam trying to make a plastic sand castle look real out of the plastic kid sand castle one. Could you try one? Or any of the plastic boats or sea stuff. Ty luv ya Traci
@@LovinLifesJourney I do know to mod podge the plastic pieces to make the sand stick but how else would you decor it? I got 2 jet ski I want to do & a plastic boat bcuz my whole bathroom is beach well both & I got this like 6-7ft tall light house shelf that I can put decor on but I need to get it together. First working on what to put on it. I got a lil room left on my wall so I will make these to cover that but I still need something that can handle steam from shower to put over top on wall to decor that wall area. Its a lot to think of but I been watching you diy gals for at least the last 5 months. So iam thankful I found you gals. Luv ya Traci
