Hi Whitney Love your tutorials and I have made a few bags using your method. Really quick and easy especially when you need a gift in a hurry. In one of your tutorials could you please show how to sew the zips that have lace edges. I can't seem to get my head around how they are sewn on. Thankyou regards Maxine

I would like to try this with a faux leather. I wouldn't use the french seams. I would probably just use my serger. Do you think this would work out alright? Have you or anyone else used faux leather? I have done this many times with prequilted fabric or just cotton fabric. Great tutorial.

Yeah, their website is a little unusual. Unfortunately the Mickey fabric was an older print and is sold out now.

My mom is a lefty, so yes it's something I think about. You can definitely have the zippers going whichever direction is best for you :) Glad you like the video!

Nondirectional is something like polka dots that look good turned any which way. Directional is like the Mickey print that has to be turned a certain way to look right.

So cute... thanks Whitney! I'm guessing both pockets are complete in & of themselves. Thinking it would provide another 'pocket' to leave the top of the smaller pocket unattached from the larger one... for three pockets. In my world, you can't have too many bags, or pockets. :)

Yes, they are two complete pockets. I thought about leaving that top bit open on the smaller, but was afraid the weight of the anything inside the pocket would risk tearing out the seam since it wouldn't be as secure.

I love the bag look and your easy directions. It is however, a lot of bulk to do those French seams. I broke two needles and my machine is fairly heavy duty. I would love to see this pattern without all the extra overlapped fabric.

i wonder if you really know how great this method is, the easiest for a double pocket all the others have a cut out for the zipper weird so much easier your way I made it a while back in oriental fabric turned out great

There isn't a seam there so you would either have to cut the fabric across to add them or have them on the very back which might look a bit unfinished. But feel free to do whatever you like :)

Though I do enjoy your videos and techniques I find it so time consuming and somewhat confusing to have to go to website for measurements, watch a different video to connect to this one THEN watch this one to make a French seamed crossbody bag. Just make it the same as shown then when you're ready to sew up the side seams turn the bag so it's right sides together and sew them finish the raw edges with a serger, zig zag stitch, or pinking shears

I followed your directions to a T. Both on the website and all on the videos. Tried it twice and neither turned out right. So disappointed to waste fabric and zippers.

I'm so sorry to hear that it didn't turn out right. I've had several people make this project and theirs turned out great, so I'm not sure why it's not working for you. Was there a certain step where you could tell it went wrong?

Whitney Sews the bottom corners seem so thick for some reason. I guess the other issue is I didn’t use a big enough allowance in the inside because when I turned it back out you could see the rough edges. Thanks for your help. I love your channel.
