This is genius for me as I have so many designs on my older computer and no idea how to access them. Click to the left, click to the right, stand up, sit down fight fight fight has been my go to method until now. Yay thank you!
You saved my sanity. I have been unable to load designs from cactus punch onto laptop. I no longer use floppy’s. Have Diamond. Ricoma em1010. The file lighthouses. I paid $58 for it in 2011. Thank you ,Thank you for making this video. I have second cactus punch that I will be downloading also. You are a miracle worker❤❤❤😊. Pebble in Oregon
Love your channel❤You are a great resource for me with any Bernina problem that gives me trouble. Thank you so much for educating us on sewing tips and fixing problems😀👍
Thanks, Jeff, I always learn something new, and a way to remember things I've forgotten. Thank you for keeping us growing and learning! I love your shop, everyone is so helpful and friendly!
This is Bernina Jeff, I made a mistake on my video recording, I said 2 or 4 Mega Bite USB stick I should have said GB or Giga Bite the MB size are long gone...
First, I saw your video and then I bought a USB stick. I know it's backwards but I was convinced I couldn't do it because computers are not my expertise. After listening to your patient voice, I did it! Thank you so very much for making this video because now I have a handy reference when I buy more DVDs! Kaleen
11 pm May 11, 2023 - thank you for this video. I did the latest firmware and it said it was successful but I tried copying embroidery designs and putting in my 790 machine and it wouldn’t display. I just realize until I saw your video today. I must have taken the usb out to quickly because I could get the design to display and got a new usb and all is great now. Thank you!
Thank you for posting all this info. I purchased a benina embroidery machine. Then civid hit during my classes to learn how to use it. That was 2019 and still haven't resumed.
This was very helpful for me. I am new to machine embroidery and trying to learn my Bernina 770QE without the in-class lessons which were cancelled due to COVID. I am now able to put the design onto the USB but I am having problems when I put the USB into the machine. For example, when there are multiple files on the USB, and I stitch one out everything looks good. However, when I go on to the next file, the picture displayed looks like the design I want, but when I start stitching and I have the first design all over again. Until I learn what I'm doing wrong, my workaround is to put each design onto the USB one at a time, then delete it from the machine and the USB once I get it stitched out. Then I go back to my computer and insert the USB and load the next design and repeat the process. I know there is a step I am missing because I should be able to put all the designs on the USB and select the one I want. Can you advise? Thanks! Your videos are great!
Hi Pat, try this, after you finish with a design DO NOT press the + sign just press the finish flag and then go to the upper right hand corner and press the File folder to retrieve a new design from your USB. If that does not work for you then you need a lesson.
Getting my embroidery machine next week. I love the step by step instructions! Where do I purchase CD’s with designs. I’m looking to buy Christian & Patriotic designs.
Good info. I have a Bernina 180 that only takes cards. The embroidery unit says 4MB internal . Any info on how I can do something to add a CD drive OR an USB port to this machine? Thanks
Sorry the 180 is 22 year old technology and there are no improvements, I suggest use the 180 for sewing and purchase an embroidery only machine, I sell a lot of Baby Lock Flourish 2 or Meridian's in this situation, Bernina embroidery only units are quite pricey.
Instead of a whole CD transfer to the USB stick. Do you have a Windows 10 version for transferring 1 design to the USB stick? You can tell that I am a new person to this kind of thing. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR ALL YOUR HELP! 😊 😊 😊 😊
I will put that on my list---the very simple way one at a time, the only problem with that is you cannot audition or see what the design looks like on your computer, your sewing machine shows what the design looks like. Windows does not know how to look at the design format so unless you know the name or number of the design you are just guessing. I recommend only putting the file folder that has the format you use(Bernina = EXP) on the USB stick not the whole CD
Hi,many thanks for the video I have Window 10 I bought a new usb stick I have a Brother dream 2 my machine did not open the file when I tried this before ,now with your video and my note I will try again I have done downloading designs before so I hope this time is the charms I am not familiar with win10 so it could be operator error I want to do edge to edge quilting ,BTW I have a Bernina 830 I think it need to go the the dealer foot show on the right side of the screen can’ seem to remove or I do select a new foot it show up top of left screen I think it may be locked or. Jeff, I am a brand new owner of a Bernina 590 and I'm enjoying your RU-vid videos and find them quite helpful. I stumbled onto one of your RU-vid videos the other day regarding downloading a simulator for your particular machine so that you can see your sewing machine screen on your computer. I didn't have time to watch the whole video, and am now searching for it and can't find it. Can you tell me the name of that video or send me a link to that video please? Thanks much! Judy
Is there a similar method for transferring design files from a design card (Artista type of card) to USB other than one file at a time via the sewing machine? I have an older PC which has a slot which physically should accept the Artista cards (i.e. I tested a PCMCIA card which works in the PC with a design file loaded from the PC and my Artista could read and load the design file when I inserted the PCMCIA card into my Artista 200). I do not have any of the Artista cards to test, so I thought I would ask you. Thanks.
@1:15 I realize this video is for people who may not be familiar with computers much, if at all, and may follow your advice to the letter. If people look for a 2 Megabyte (MB) or less USB stick they will be searching for a very long time. Perhaps you meant to say 2 Gigabytes (GB)?
My husband insists there ae no 2mg usb sticks to be found. I would order one from you, however, would really like to order more than one and perhaps share with my friends. HELP Thanks, enjoy all your videos.
I’m desperate for help. I’m making a freestanding lace pumpkin. Something has happened that I don’t understand. When I go to select a design and use it I get a black square with the file number ending in .dst . On the right side there is a pencil that looks like it’s writing to a page. The design in the folder is no longer the tops of the pumpkin. It’s a zig zag with colorful colors scattered across the picture. I need to understand how to fix what ever is wrong to get back onto making this pumpkin. Can you help?
I did not know that my Bernina 880 plus would read PES files. I was wondering why when I opened the files in my sewing machine that they were always weird colors! I’m going to try using PES files now ! Thanks!
Will this process also work for transferring designs purchased online (OESD) and downloaded as zip files? I unzipped the files and knew to choose .exp format for my B770QE. BUT I first saved the designs to my Designer Plus V6 program and then transferred to USB stick via ‘write to machine’ - a long process and many of the designs were unusable when I tried to embroider them. In the meantime I also updated the firmware for the machine and was concerned that the firmware was causing some of the designs to fail. If I can skip the step of saving to the Designer Plus program, that would be great. Right now my 770 is in the shop as it won’t read the 0mm stitch plate correctly in some of the usb designs.
If you own a Bernina 880 Plus or 790 Plus you can use PES or EXP if you have other models use EXP for the most part, a 200 or 730 Artista uses ART on a special Bernina USB stick.
Help!!! My 830 LE will not transfer a design from computer to machine. Nor does it read a thumb drive! For a year now...long story. Do you have a contact number or email or something? Than you!
