EASY FISHING. A short session with the method feeder on a local club lake

With a few spare hours i headed off to a local gravel pit in search of some quality fish. The wind was very strong and fishing the pole or waggler would have been difficult, so i set up the method feeder and tried out a new rod. I had some 3mm green pellets for the feeder and some 8mm halibut pellets and a stick of peperami for the hook. I started getting liners and after a while the bream moved onto my feed and i started to catch.

Well I enjoyed that short session! The method is often thought of as a commercial fisheries tactic but as you can see it is effective on 'natural' venues. I didn't cast tight to the island as I wanted to be in deeper water and if I had gone tight that would be carp territory. The noise my reel made was because it was very close to the mic', I checked it and it's ok even after 5 years of hard use including sea fishing. The net I was using was my big 30ins spoon net which is a bit cumbersome but there was a realistic chance of a 20lbs plus carp. The new rod performed well casting a 35 gram feeder over 40 yards and has a nice smooth curve in action and can't wait to try it on the barbel. I only used about a pint and a half of feed pellets with a dusting of PV1 to help it bind and half a stick of peperami so the bait bill was very low. A very simple tactic which everyone should have in their armoury Bill

bill i have a question to ask you when you cast the rod out do you flick the tip in the water just after you have casted the feeder out if you don't it is good to flick the tip in the water so the feeder sink to the ground faster
@easyfishing1936
@easyfishing1936 4 года назад
Hi flick the tip when float fishing to bury the line but for the method just sink the line by immersing the rod tip. You must not move the method feeder after it hits the bottom as the feed will come of and you will have to recast. Bill

Great fish Bill. Well played sir. Just a quick question. What hooklengths do you use. I been using 8lb drennan band lengths and they keep snapping on the take at the knot. Only on fish to 5lb too. Cheers and keep up the great content.
@easyfishing1936
@easyfishing1936 4 года назад
Hi well something is wrong as 8lbs line is almost impossible to break with a rod. When you say the line breaks at the knot do you mean at the hook or at the joining loop to the mainline. On this occasion I was using Drennan 0.20 about 6lbs bs and have managed carp in excess of 20lbs without any problems. BILL
@fishingbitesandbanter293
@fishingbitesandbanter293 4 года назад
@@easyfishing1936 hi again bill and thanks for the reply. I use the pre tied drennan hooklength to a drennan plastic loop link . The knot of the hook length seems to be where it's weak as it's either the knot or just under that snaps. Went through 4 in one session and didn't have any fish on over 4lb. It puzzled me and don't know if it's a bad batch of hook lengths or if there is something I'm doing wrong. I've recently purchased mavers hooklengths to see if it makes a difference but was wondering if you knew of anything to try or of you'd had similar issues. Never had this before. Thanks again.
@easyfishing1936
@easyfishing1936 4 года назад
@@fishingbitesandbanter293 Hi again well it's possible you have a bad batch but never heard of this before. I would test them to by anchoring the hook then get a knot puller, from the carp tackle section, and pull to destruction.Bill
