Easy Fruit Cake Recipe 

Thanks for the recipe. I have converted this recipe to an American version for those who don't want to Google all the conversions. Fruitcake (American Version) Preheat oven to 340 F Ingredients: Butter - 1 c (remove 1 tbsp +/-) Brown Sugar - 3/4 c Eggs - 2 Plain Flour - 1 and 1/4 c Baking Powder - 2 tsp Salt - 1/2 tsp Milk - 4 tbsp Candied Fruit - 1 and 1/2 c Directions: Mix butter and brown sugar. Slowly add eggs and beat till smooth. Sift and add flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix well. Add milk and beat till smooth. Add fruit (and nuts if wanted). Pour into greased and parchment-lined loaf pan. Level top. Bake for 1 hour.

I don't know why fruit cake has such a bad reputation. The one made here looks outstanding. I would love to enjoy a slice of that and a cup of coffee on Christmas morning.

I had a slice with Wensleydale cheese when we were up in the Dales years ago. Served like that. The crumbly tangy cheese went so well with the fruitcake.

I'll have a go at this, but use self raising flour rather than plain flour plus baking powder!!😁😁🇬🇧

When I saw you putting the jam on top I thought that meant you were going to put marzipan on top and possibly royal icing later. Would that be possible as I think it would make a nice and not too heavy Christmas cake.

In aus the brown sugar isn't grainy, we get dried fruit in a pack aready mixed, and self raising flour, so this looks pretty complicated to me. This is a light fruit cake, we get dark ones and boiled fruit cake, which is even quicker. All the best.

Looks good but i think the eggs r less compared to the amt of fruits n flour..i put spices n equal amts of ingredients

Help. I have never been able to make a successful cake. I tried this recipe, the top was burnt(not completely black) and the cake was so crumbly if fell apart when I tried to cut a slice. What did I do wrong? (It tastes good!)

Y my fruit cake dry followed the same recipe

You can make this cake with just flour dried fruit and some cold tea.

Nice but far too crumbly. Cant cut a slice without it all disintegrating into crumbs.

Spices?
