I start my first cup this weekend and I’m very interested in using the BT cause I have a 1yr old daughter but what kind of BT do you use? I’m gonna make a big purchase off amazing on the things I need and didn’t know which one to get. Thank you!
How many cups do you think I can do with ordering the 8oz bottle of brite tones? I dont want to order to much at first just to try and see if I like it
i glittered the bottom half of my tumbler and let dry and came back and did the top in another color ... im guessing thats wrong !! will i be able to save it lol and carry on ???
I usually recommend minimum 6 coats for protection! If you're going to add any vinyl, do 3 coats of bt, then vinyl, then however many to cover the vinyl!
My glitter is thicker in some spots and some spots doesn't have very much coverage. Did I not apply enough BT? Could I add another coat once dried? Do I seal glitter before adding another coat?
@@AlisonCrafts i thought so lol thank you! My daughter is excited to make cups with me now once I get brite tone! I might need to place a bigger order lol
black gloss will take a few coats to get full coverage. and you can use acrylic paint as long as you use a primer first. it doesn't have the bonding agents to make it a proper base layer!
So pretty! Quick question : this is the first crystalac video where you said "24-48 hours" for spray paint off gassing.. I've only ever heard 48 hours.. Are we safe to move forward at 24 hours?? 🤞
Im just making the switch from epoxy to Crystalac. Can you please tell me the steps as far as their products I need to use after glitter such as, seal with and how many coats after which I use Brite Tone correct? How many coats before its a finished tumbler and how much time between each coat? How do you deal with bubbles? TIA....
You could do a few things and it depends on your design. If it's multiple colors, I would seal with e6000 or spray paint. And then add a second layer with BT. If it's a single color, I would just spray the whole cup with E6000 and do a second layer that way!
So is this alternative less toxic than epoxy. I’ve kinda wanted to start glitter tumblers.. but wasn’t wanting something so toxic. I’ve seen people say you should wear a mask and everything while doing the epoxy.
yes it is!! it's water based and completely non-toxic. no fumes or hazardous chemicals. I use it because it is soooo much safer and you don't need a respirator unless you're spraying it on (which i dont!)
You can put crystalac on top of epoxy as long as it's fully cured (which surprisingly takes 30 days ) and you cannot put epoxy on top of crystalac. Epoxy burns into the previous layer and that damages the prior finish and may cause problems!
yes you can!! Brite Tone is recommended for glass. thecrystalacstore.com/collections/clear-top-coats/products/brite-tone-instrument-finish?sca_ref=301559.RjXXsfrXmN
I personally find it turns out better using a brush to apply my glitter. I never have to do a second layer. But I do all of my other BT layers with my finger. Definitely personal preference!
I tried using BT for the application for the first time today. I was either too slow or I didn’t apply enough bt because it dried before I was ready. 😭
It does dry quickly. You can apply a little bit more or you can get the reducer to slow down the drying time. thecrystalacstore.com/collections/additives-for-crystalac-top-coats/products/crystalac-viscosity-reducer?sca_ref=301559.RjXXsfrXmN
I just sort of moved further away where the colors met! I did two coats of spray paint too so it definitely looks better after the second coat after sort of marking where I wanted them to transition!
Awesome I just discovered epoxy free tumblers I'm trying to learn as much as I can about them before I try one. Thank you 💖 off to go watch some more of your videos.
