Thanks for the tutorial. The break down of lines is great. It isn't hard to find stroke charts, but to see it in video really helps. Bigger kudos on the graph system. It's the little things, to put simply. Great lesson.
Wow! You are an excellent teacher. You repeat, repeat, repeat. For those who want to learn how to do things the right way, that reinforcement is the path to success. In addition, the camera angle is perfect. Thank you for sharing your talent and passion. Once again, thank you.
Thank you very much for the kind comment - I know this script can look really intimidating at first so I really wanted to show how easy and fun it can be 😃
Thank so much, Rachel 😃 I really do hope to make the writing experience as fun, relaxing, and approachable as possible. It can be easy to get stressed worrying about trying to make everything perfect, but I think it's much more enjoyable and work improves when we're relaxed and having fun 😁 Thanks again for the support, it really means a lot!
This was a little difficult to learn UNTIL I watched your video. The lines (1-4) helped tremendously and it clicked for me. Made it sooo much easier. Thank you for making this video!
This makes me so happy to hear!! Thank you so much for your feedback and I'm really happy that this video helped 😃 I'm working on one for the capital letters that I'm excited to share soon too 😃
Hi Mike! Thanks very much for the feedback, I really appreciate it! I first got into calligraphy through fountain pens and have been totally hooked on these broad nib styles since discovering them. Hope you have tons of fun and holler if you ever need a hand with any tips - the feedback is really helpful for future content and my newsletter topics 👍
watching your video makes me want to make calligraphy but I can't wait to be able to watch it in full so it can be a motivator for me, thank you and always
This was extremely helpful and I wonder if you could do another ‘simple’ version of the capital letters using the guidelines that you have created. They are so helpful for learning in a comfortable zone.. thanks
Hi Sky! Thanks so much for your feedback, I really appreciate it and am really happy to hear that you found this helpful! 😃 I really did want to make it as easy to learn this style as possible, so I'm really glad that the guides help. Once you get the hang of the letters, it's so much fun playing and experimenting with them! I do hope to do a simplified version of the capitals as well soon 👍
@@BlackletterFoundry Hey bro, I found your video extremely helpful, Thank you so much for making such a descriptive video. Is there any chance of you teaching capital letters just like you taught small alphabets?
I know how that goes - but graffiti lettering is awesome too so I'm sure it's just making your letters more unique and awesome 😃 You can snag these guidelines that I used for free through my newsletter (www.blackletterfreebies.com) if it helps but I hope you're having fun with this style or a combo blackletter/graffiti style!
Awesome tutorial! I love the '"s"! The guide sheets are perfect! You've made it so much easier to practice with any nib size I want. I had been practicing without guidelines...and you can definitely tell. 😂 I just purchased the 3.0 Pilot Parallel, but already had the other sizes. (you said you were using the 3.0 but I think you're using the 3.8 🤭) I also just received the 3 pack of ink refills you mention in your supplies list, and the colors are beautiful. And at a great price point. Amazing content in your Free Treasure Trove for sure! Thanks Tamer!!! I definitely needed all of this!
Thanks so so much for the kind feedback! You have no idea how much I appreciate it 😃 I'm so glad that the worksheets and other resources are helpful and congrats on your new pen!! I obviously love these pens a lot 😂 and you're totally right - I totally said the wrong size in the video so I wrote 3.8 in text rather than re-record and delay it even more 😂 Those ink cartridges are really fun right? So many colors! There are even some in there that aren't available individually (some like violet and turquoise you can buy as packs of just that color). Thank YOU for your feedback, it really means a lot! Please let me know if there's anything you'd like to see or know about in upcoming vids 😁
cant believe i really learnt all the letter in 20 minutes! you made them really easy!! i really hope you have a video on the uppercase letter too, even though i know they're not going to be as easy!
Hi Venere thank you very much for your kind comments 😃 I really wanted to make these approachable and I'm definitely working on something for the capitals! You might be surprised that they can be easier than expected 😃 More coming soon 👍
wow thank you my friend. for sharing your techniques. most artist are scared to do this because of whatever. but giving your people some enlightenment should be what all artist need to strive for. bravo
I just stumbled upon this video while looking for advanced techniques on 3D and op-art calligraffic styles. I've dabbled with calligraphy and letterforms my entire life, largely self-taught so far as I can remember. While I found no revelations in this video I feel compelled to compliment your teaching style and simplistic breakdown of the strokes. I might have to discipline myself to pen an entire alphabet with no flourishes whatsoever, easier said than done, as I'm sure you're aware. Thanks so much for staying true to the art and articulating that which I can't because it's just second nature to me now. Have a fantastic day.
This is so helpful. This video instruction was recommended by my calligraphy instructor. We learned gothic and blackletter last week and she had a video instruction, but thought that we could also get more tips from you. Thanks for a great video. I have the parallel pens in all sizes, but don''t use them much as we usually have to use the regular pen nibs in different sizes depending on the assignment. But, when I have used them, they are so easy and I just love all the ink color cartridges. Your guidelines look so easy, I think I'll have to subscribe for your freebies! Thanks so much!
What a great and detailed video. I was looking to start calligraphy for beginners when I came across this Black Lettering video. changed my mind. I'm going to start this lettering font instead. Looks easier and nicer. Thanks again for this perfect video.
Thanks very much for your feedback Chuy and I'm so happy that you found this helpful! It can look a bit intimidating at first which is why I really wanted to show that it's actually very approachable 😃 I hope you're already having lots of fun!
thank you for making this video it was very well articulated and you helped me polish up my messy pieces that i wouldnt know what to do with ...i feel some shapes are too round and some too square when i make text, and this style meets in the middle. lovely.
Oh! Tamer, it's wonderful. How kind and patient he is. I knew you were good people! Now! How about showing us how to do them little decorative doohickeys? Like sometimes they're on the left side of the body ( half-way up X-height of a letter), and sometimes they show up at the terminus of a final stroke. Thank you for taking the time to put this together for us!! Yay!
Aw thanks so much, you're awesome! 😁 I'm really happy I could help with this and thanks for the feedback - I definitely have plans to create more videos explaining how to vary and add to these letters. Hopefully the next video will be quicker to finish 😁 Thanks so much again!
Thank you so, so much for the kind feedback - that really means a lot and I'm so happy that you've discovered a new love of calligraphy! It's so much fun!! I first got into calligraphy through fountain pens and have been hooked ever since! There's tons of fun ahead 😃
No words to express my gratitude side ... dat was what I was looking for .... now I can learn myself with confidence.. tnx for teaching in such a simplest way.. thanks
Thanks so much for your kind words, Thasz - I'm so happy that you found this helpful! 😃 I know you can do this and absolutely encourage you to have fun with your practice! 😃
Glad this was helpful and I understand the challenges with inks sometimes - it can be worth looking into lightfast inks and other protections that can help with the inks fading due to sunlight 😃
Would like to know more about paper and what purpose your dark paper downloads serve, that question may sound silly but i felt like asking. I am a novice so not ashamed to ask 😔
Thanks so much for the feedback, I really appreciate it Mohammed! And that's actually a great question - I put the dark/light versions of the worksheets in the pack so that they can also be used with programs like Procreate. If you're writing on a dark background it's easier to use the light versions, if you're working on a light background it's easier to use the dark version of the guides. Hopefully that made sense 😂 Thanks again for the feedback, man
I absolutely love this video! I'm so happy I found this channel. I saw you on another person's channel and followed you here. I'm revisiting calligraphy and want to learn as much as I can. You have very helpful information. Just awesome.
I'm so happy you enjoyed this - thank you so much for your feedback, it really means alot! I have some new tutorials planned soon and plan to do the live sessions again soon as well 😃
Excellent video - I found the use of basic strokes as the building blocks for the letters made the tutorial clear and easy to practice. Is there a follow-on from this video with uppercase letters, and potentially numbers as well?
This was so much fun to learn. I don't have a broad edge nib... (and I am left-handed)... but I am sure if I did, it would have come out looking similar to yours. I am happy though. With your guidance I wrote my first alphabet in calligraphy! Thank you so much! 😊
Thank you so much for your kind feedback! It makes me so happy to hear that you found this helpful and wee able to write your first alphabet! Writing is so much fun and I hope you continue to find it tons and tons fun 😃
Thanks so much for the kind feedback! I know it's more of an adventure for the left-handed calligraphy friends. There are a few approaches you can try based on how you position your hand, the paper, and even the way in which you write the letters (some write the letters upside down or work right to left). I think the best advice I've seen is to experiment to find a method that's most comfortable for you because everyone's a little different. Definitely hope you find a method that works best for you!
I got your sheet printed and practicing on that, paired with this simple tutorial, thanks for this video I really wish you create similar video for Capital alphabets
How did u get the sheet? I subscribed but I'm not able to do anything. Even the email didn't say anything about downloading the sheet can u please give me some guidance how to download? Please
Sanjeev is absolutely correct - apologies for the delay in replying and I hope you were able to get the resources 😃 There's also a link at the bottom of the first email to download everything on the first day 😃
Hi Yumi! I know what you mean - I was previously only aware of their multitude of other products and found these when I started diving into the world of broad nib calligraphy. They're great tools (I have a ton of them now!)
Sick tutorial bro! I'm really impressed by the effort and the overall quality of it. Keep up the good work and looking forward to catching up with you soon! :)
Excellent tutorial. I could not have asked for a better teacher. Sir, could you please advise ,which Pilot parallel pen should a beginner use? Thank you.
Thanks so much for the kind feedback, I'm so happy that you found it hepful! I'm working on a version for the capitals, too and hope to have it out soon 😃
It's possible that the email was filtered into a junk mail folder. After you sign up you should receive emails with links to the resources and explanations so perhaps the messages were filtered out of your inbox?
@@BlackletterFoundry I too would like to see the uppercase letters. Just bought my first parallel pen (3.8mm) & tried to write this alphabet from memory. I got pretty close. This is an excellent tutorial. Very easy for a beginner to follow. Thank you!
Ahh this is soo funn 😂 I have a chicken scratch kind of writing up until now 😂😂😂. But writing in this style makes me want to make a love letter to my wife
Thanks so much for your kind words, I really appreciate it and hope you have tons of fun if you give it a try! It really is a flexible style and I'm sure your wife would love the letter 😃
Thanks so much. This video's appearance is so timely - I just purchased several Pilot Parallels (including 3.8) and have been looking for the perfect first project! I didn't see uppercase or numbers in this style on your channel - did you ever cover those?
Se puede muy bien con un cuaderno doble raya, no necesitas más, así como en el tiempo que crearon esa tipografía no necesitaron ni siquiera un cuaderno doble raya. 🤘
