O.M.Goodness! I was so confused on how to increase my recipe from percentages into ounces. The original recipe was in ounces and I could only make 2, 2oz tins. I was afraid to do the math myself. I do not get along with math. You saved me so much money by not messing up my recipe than ruining my expensive oils and butters. You are a rock star!!! Thank you to the Heaven and back

Dear Mon-Ara Thank you so much for explaining this so thoroughly. I just couldn't get my head around this before as no one was explaining it on recipe vids.Guess I'll have to throw out my cups and measuring spoons. I managed to create a cocoa formulation that I'm going to try out as a birthday gift to my sister, as she loves that butter but purchases shop bought products.I will tinker with my own recipes until I get a good fit. Much love, appreciation and gratitude foryour kindness. Good luck with your business. Stay blissed. Sx

Evening sista I have a question with the essential oil I'm using the recommended dilution for peppermint is 1% 3 drops or 2 teaspoons when making a larger batch like 6 4oz jars =24oz I'm just trying to figure out will the 1% be efficient for larger batch to the point you smell the peppermint. Because If I increase the drops or teaspoons, I'm going over the recommended dilution what your thoughts just trying to make sure I'm good thanks.

Or do I just eyeball it?? Please help, thanks in advance
@MonAra
@MonAra 3 года назад
You must have had a recipe in mind either in % or amount. Are you trying to invent your own recipe or following one you've seen?. If you were to eyeball and eventually get the recipe as desired, make sure to measure everything by weight and then you can input it in the calculator to figure out the percentage of each ingredient. I hope am making sense.

240ml or oz? Once you know the percentage of your recipe, go to the website in the video and look for the percentage to amount calculator. Then choose the amount, add the ingredients with % and the calculator will do the rest

I have questions please 1. How do I know the amount of the ingredients I choose 2. How many oils can I use for body butter...cox on my recipe I'm having jojoba oil,coconut oil, sweet almond oil and vitamin e oil 3. Is it compulsory to use essential oils/fragrance in body butter I will be happy if you can reply me...thank you
@MonAra
@MonAra 2 года назад
To find out about ingredients amounts especially if you are new to skincare formulations , you can check out some cosmetic formulations spreadsheets and experiment from there. That should give you an idea on how much of an ingredient to use. 2. For body butters, You can use as many oils as you'd like to combine but too little percentage of too many oils doesn't impact enough benefit of each of the oil used. I prefer to stick with 3 different oils at most but you can always use more.
@MonAra
@MonAra 2 года назад
3. It is not recommended to use essential oils or fragrance oils in your products. I prefer making mine without fragrance oils or use very subtle scents. Essential oils add therapeutic purposes and are used at really low usage rate while fragrance oil is for just scent so it's totally optional. Also take into consideration those using the products. I get nauseous easily and don't care much for fragrance oils especially in leave on products. Hope this helped?

I have a recipe for my products where the ingredients are measured in cups and tbsp. Is it necessary to still use the site to get % after weighing each ingredient out? If so, would I use those % values in the weight calculator to get weights again?
@MonAra
@MonAra 3 года назад
Best way to formulate is by knowing the % of your ingredients. It took me some time to figure it out but once you know it, you'll never want to measure by cups or tbsp. One way to find out the % is by using a scale to weight the amount of each ingredient you are measuring using cups or tbsp and noting it down then transfer it to the site using the amount to % calculator and that should give you the percentage of each ingredient. Hope I was able to answer your question.

@MonAra
@MonAra 3 года назад
Hi Kenyadas, you need to have a spread sheet of cosmetic product formulations, that should help as a guide to how much of an ingredient you need to make a product. The more you experiment, the better you get at formulating your own recipes. Most spreadsheets are given in percentages so this video should help in that areas. Hope this helps
