I LOVE your videos - they are my very favorite! You do a great job explaining the hows and whys of everything you do. I love that you give alternative solutions (bat mandrel for instance) to purchasing needed tools. PLEASE keep up the good work!

Thanks John! Great video. Do you use any kind of coating to the skin-side of copper pieces? I love copper bracelets but copper turns my skin green. Rio Grande has a lacquer product for this but the reviews are not good. Thanks
@OnlineJewelryAcademy
@OnlineJewelryAcademy 6 лет назад
Hi Luna Sky, The OJA is currently investigating a coating for a video. It's called "Protectaclear". You can purchase it online from Everbrite. It has good reviews and was recommended to us by one of our supporters. So, we're checking it out to see if we should do a video on it. I hope that it works for you. Thanks for your support! : )

I have a full sheet of copper here, I just cut off a 6" inch piece with my saw, should I file the one side to make it smooth, right?
@OnlineJewelryAcademy
@OnlineJewelryAcademy 2 года назад
It depends on whether or not you plan on texturing the top surface. If you plan on giving a bracelet a texture, it makes more sense to texture the metal first and then refine both edges with your file.😀

It would be nice if you also gave mm thickness and wire sizes when you give gauges. Also, put at the end all the links to relevant videos. It saves having to try scroll back and find them along the way. Put them along the way as well but a summary at the end. This is just friendly feedback to improve a great channel.
@OnlineJewelryAcademy
@OnlineJewelryAcademy 7 лет назад
Hi Geoff, Thanks for the feedback. Sometime I do forget to mention in the videos what size gauge I'm working with. But, I do try to include that information in the description of the video whenever I've made that mistake. Also, I can tell that you're watching the OJA's videos on a mobile device. I know because there are links relevant videos included in the videos. But, RU-vid only supports those links when the videos are viewed on a computer. Thanks for your support! : )

I would like to see more of your videos. I learn through my phone and most instructors list the gauge number above the comment section. I can't see it here. Can you please do that as well? It would be helpful for us who are learning and watching lots of videos. It saves a lot of time. Thank you !
@annehagan4938

The answer to the gauge thickness is that its probably about 18 gauge thick. The lower the gague the THICKER the metal. for example a 10 gauge would be THICK. A 22 ga. would be THINNER (than what you;re seeing above.) I estimate this copper is about 18 ga. thick, Once you understand the gauge system you're home free, (Btw, there is another way to measure gauge thickness. Use a mm. ruler but I wont go into it on here.) Good luck.

Hi, thanks for the video! :) I was interested in what gauge the sheet metal was in this as well please. Thank you.
@OnlineJewelryAcademy
@OnlineJewelryAcademy 6 лет назад
Hi Yvette, I just became aware of this "thread". I generally use 22 and 20 gauge sheet metal in the videos. The bracelets in this video were made from both gauges. Really, you can decide how thick or thin you want the bracelet to be. Personally, I like a thicker bracelet. Thanks for your support! : )

For "therapy," the copper wide surface area type bracelet must be overlapping with out touching, with a type of closure to hold its position as insulated, in a SPIRAL. The original health benefits came from science research a long time ago, which you probably never studied. 98% of users have it wrong. The vibrational energy in the air has frequencies, many from cosmic radiation. The cellular living tissue within the spiral gets absorbed energy at a low amplification. (Antenna) This works on people, animals and plants. I used this many years ago on my old dog with arthritis. Twice it worked.( Animals and plants don't have "BIAS"- Gee I think I feel better.) See - study the data published about the work of George Lakhovski and the booklet "The Waves That Heal" Cancer eliminated in potted plants, and use of the electrically active type, or passive type copper spirals. So now you know.

You need a mask if you are going to file metal.
@OnlineJewelryAcademy
@OnlineJewelryAcademy 6 лет назад
No, you don't need to wear a mask when when you file. The metal particles are big enough and heavy enough that they don't become airborne. But, if you engage a power tool to refine your edges, safety glasses and a mask are necessary. Thanks for your support! : )
