I'm home alone I'm twelve years old And I'm baking a cake Okay so a little update. I am 15 now and I love baking but I mainly make cookies, brownies, and muffins. The only time I bake cakes is when it’s someone’s birthday. Surprisingly I didn’t burn down my house when I made this 3 years ago but the cake did turn out lopsided and kinda dry.
If you don’t have butter or you don’t want to use butter, you can substitute the butter for 1/4 cup of Oil. Just make sure that when the dry ingredients are in the bowl, add the milk first then the oil.
This was absolutely amazing!! It’s my mom’s birthday today and there was no prepared cake mix in a box, so I was sweating on how to make her a cake. This was so simple and super delicious!! Best cake I’ve ever had, in my opinion!! And it’s made from scratch, so it has extra love in it :))
You should have just made a punch bowl cake with it then. Idk if you know how to make that but just in case. You just take the cake scraps or pieces and crumble them up, add whatever kind of pudding you like, whatever fruit you like, and then some Cool Whip on top. You can do layer it like you would a lasagna.
We’ve been in quarantine for 2 months already and I’m so tired, looking for something to maintain myself away from the news, checked this recipe and lucky I have all the ingredients.. it’s in the oven already. Who else is ready to go back to “normal” again? Thanks for sharing this recipe, I never thought I was going to be baking a cake 😉 Quarantine 2020!
Tip : add a little more milk and warm up the milk before hand to make the batter more silky and results in a softer less cornbread textured cake . I made this and layered it with cool whip and strawberries in parfait cups ;) Nice video !
So I made this cake with, it came out delicious! I am not the best baker and had searched several recipes for a basic cake and this was super easy to follow. Although I did substitute oil and added 1" cube apples into the batter. I baked this in two separate batches; it baked perfect, I was I'm disbelieve! Thank you!
No! I'm so sorry for you. Especially since vanilla is sooooooooo expensive and you wasted an entire teaspoon of it. Also, you were just robed of a very tasty treat. How have you survived to tell the tale‽‽‽
I made this cake and used bobs red mill gluten free flour instead of regular flour and it was so dense and delicious! I froze the cakes wrapped in Saran Wrap for a day and then added simple syrup before doing a crumb coat. My American buttercream wasn’t super spreadable so I’m going to try again with Swiss merengue buttercream! I gave a slice to my neighbors and family and they loved the cake!
I've never seen butter being added to the flour. I think I'd try the same ingredients but cream the butter and sugar first. Then combine the eggs, vanilla and milk together. Then combine the salt, baking powder and flour together. Finally add wet, dry, wet, and end on dry. That is the order for a fluffy, moist, tender crumb cake. 😉
Sheila Diuguid I cut butter into flour for several different recipes... just the way I was taught but I will try your method and see the difference. Thanks for the tip!
Actually, her method is called reverse creaming. This leads to a much tender crumb than the creaming method (which is your way), because adding butter straight into the flour creates this coating that stops gluten formation. The more gluten a cake has, the tougher it becomes. Also, the alternating method is correct, but you should start dry then end dry.
hi Just want to say a massive THANK YOU for this marvellous cake! also for you butter cream icing recipe too! It was my first time baking ever ... and it was a huge success. I made this recipe 2 days ago and it turned out amazing!! I simply covered it with nutella and everyone loved it, I will bake it once in a while from now on.
Cool! I'm making my mum a cherry cheesecake for her birthday on the 12th April. And it's my little brothers birthday on the 26th April so im surprising him with cinnamon whirls for breakfast (one of his faves) and a red, orange and teal (his fave colours) checkerboard cake as his birthday cake
This is sooo great! I made a rainbow cake wit this basic vanilla cake recipe. All 3 times it came out perfect!. I was so happy happy. All the guests love the cake too.
Watching this at 2020 be like... *she coughs* Me: *anxiety hits* uhh😵 But otherwise, here's to me baking a cake on my own birthday cus bakeries aren't open
Can I tell you, I made the vanilla cake based on your ingredients and it turned out phenomenal!! I’ve tried the recipes of other RU-vid chefs but they don’t provide the step-by-step nuance that you do. I look forward to seeing more of your videos!
I'm trying it for my mom's birthday and I'm kinda nervous that it will come out chewy and dense cause she seems to mix it a lot (using all purpose flour) But I'll try it anyway :)
This is the best vanilla cake recipe ever. It is delicious and the taste and texture in consistent every time. I always make this for family gatherings and other occasions....and everyone loves it. I recommend this cake recipe to anyone; so simple & delicious. Great video @CookiesCupcakesandCardio
It's more dense than store bought cake, that's for sure...maybe having fondant on it would be too much, yea. possibly tweek the recipe for a fluffier cake? Beatriz Sandoval sorry im so late.
My two little girls and I are making this cake right now :). I've divided it into four different bowls and colored them four shades of pink. Can't wait to see how they turn out!!
I did what u said all right ingredients but it tasted like a little 2 much flour my FAM liked it. BUT hey im 11 first cake I baked in from scratch I LOVE TO COOK an bake
So I was turning on the oven and once it finally hit 350, I realized that I had left all the pans in there. And now plastic is melted all because of my dumb self.
Jen, I'm so sorry you don't do your channel anymore. I love this cake recipe. I have made it for every occasion since you posted it. Thank you so much!
I love how you dont like fast forward, i personally like to kind of have an idea as to how long i should keep doing something, if that makes sense! Love this video and will be trying this recipe! From the comment section it seems to be a great recipe!!
you didnt cream the. butter and sugar the. most. important step in making cake. batter and whats worse. is adding the butter right into. the flour which. makes a coarse batter. i didnt. bake. the cake. or anything the. recipe ingredients are great im sure it. still comes out great. but the creaming. is essential. to the texture of cake the step of adding butter straight to the. flour is for biscuits bread and those types of baked goods. let me know what the texture. is like in this recipe looks great. from here and its obv that u are very talented
PERFECT RECIPE ! used this recipe for cake pops, I was able to whip it up in 30 minutes, used my baby cakes cake pop pans and amazingggg cake pops instead of the gross unsanitary cake to buttercream cake pops !! I did add a tad bit more of vanilla and as well mixed blue sprinkles in the end to make funfetti cake pops for a bday gift :)
I followed this recipe to a T. Did it in the order and increments given and it turned out AWFUL! The batter tasted like biscuit dough so I was already worried, then I baked it and it tasted like a waffle and it crumbled horribly. I have no idea what went wrong!?
Hi Jen. Hope you keeping well. Just to let you all know.. I've made the cake twice already this week and it's AMAZING!! Thanks a ton dear! We all love it!! 😋😋😋👍🏼
Ingredients: 2 1/4 cups of All Purpose Flour 1/2 cup of softened butter 1 1/3 cups of sugar 2 eggs 3 teaspoons of baking powder 1/2 teaspoon of salt 1 cup of milk 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
Shreya Rangan You have nothing to loose but some flour, sugar and a few ingredients and everything to gain my friend. Go for it. If you have to throw a couple out so be it. I have been baking for years and got distracted the other day and forgot my cake and burned it. I just threw it in the trash and blew it off. I will make another today. Such is life in the big city. When you make your first one it will thrill you to death! GO FOR It! :)
Yeah I know! I made this cake and was expecting it to be lighter and not so dense. I wonder if it's supposed to be like that or if I just did something wrong 😁
***** I made this comment months ago i am no longer a leafy fan because all he does is make fun of other youtubers when all he makes is videos of him talking and nothing that takes real effort.
