Thank you so much! I found a beautiful vintage 1950's GE "pot belly" percolator at a thrift store for a whopping $5 and have tried every method in the book to clean the badly stained inside. This worked like a charm!

Thank you for this helpful info. I was given a used percolator coffee pot, an electric one like yours, and it is filthy, came from a garage sale. I tried scrubbing it clean, but not with much luck. I stumbled across your channel, and I am so happy I did:) I can't wait to try this cleaning method of yours. Thank you for sharing this.

Works good. I had a basket clogged with coffee buildup. Scrubbing couldnt get it out of the tiny holes. The baking soda did a great job of loosening everything up. Still a little residue on the hard to reach edges. As they say it is good enough for government work thank you!

This worked great. If you have a thin bottlebrush (I use the one that came with my aluminum drinking straws) it works great to clean the stem, the center stem of the basket, and inside the spout. Mine is long enough to go the full length of the stem, but I would imagine a shorter one would work well if used from each end of the stem. I like to do a third rinse to make sure no traces of vinegar remain (this is important if you use cream - the vinegar will cause it to curdle).

Tried this just now & works great! I have a tip to offer too...... When you're drinking coffee and you get down to the last cup or 2,unplug the pot unless you're going to drink the last of it fairly quickly. When the fluid levels drop, the flavors start to concentrate, cook onto and collect onto the heating element causing bitter taste. I have the habit of leaving it plugged in, but no more. I'll heat the last of it in the microwave from now on. Thanks so much for this tip!

I have the exact same percolator. I clean mine thoroughly after every use and every once in a while will place the internals in the dishwasher. They come up as new. Someone (not me) almost emptied the pot and left the percolator on all day. Coffee was baked to the bottom. Easy fix!!! I filled the pot full of hot water and stirred in a dishwasher soap capsule and left it soak over night. A quick rinse was all it took. I did run a full cycle of water through it clear any soap residue.

This is my 2nd Keurig coffee maker of this model. ru-vid.comUgkxBrV-RbF5Nk0Rlt9i15aao-YMzqzTG8Vf The first worked fine for more than 2 years, and I could still get a decent cup of coffee out of it if I fiddled with it when I decided to replace it. The problem I had with my first unit was this: When attempting to brew a cup of coffee, the unit would either keep brewing until the coffee was undrinkable or it would not run long enough and the coffee produced was way too strong. I cleaned the unit as best I could but it did not help. So in the end it was just too much trouble to get a good cup of coffee out of it, so I decided to replace it with a new one, which has been working great since I unpacked it.

If faced with a really tough cleaning challenge, I have used oven cleaner and abrasives. It is important that the bottom well be free of sediment and also the connection to the tube and the well be sealed well. In my instance I the coffee was coming out weak and thought the thermostat failed. No, it just needed a really good clean. Percs great, rich coffee now and using much less coffee.

Next time when finished let it sit for a while. Also buy some bar keepers friend at hardware store and it will take all that off. It is a non toxic clenser I use to clean up my air fryer of burnt on grease. It comes off like a dream. Also percolated coffee makes better coffee because it boils, drip does not.

First off, I would use 1/4 c LEMON JUICE from the bottle. This is with all coffee makers. Salt can also be used. I do want to know what the white "calcium" looking stuff is in rhe older perc makers is. It's always in that iron dipped hole area after each use, even after rinsing and drying. Had it everywhere I lived. Is that minerals from the water? It's hard to get rid of it everyday.

You can use Baking Sodda to scour it out too. Then use a Mr. CLEAN ERASER.

I see you have "metro tile" on the back splash...very tasteful.

Copied your method and a nylon brush inside and on the parts. Amazing. So shiny.

Mine has a glass top & I cant figure out how to get that part clean. I've been using oxyclean & hot tap water about every two weeks (I only make coffee in my 2 days off each week). Going to try cleaning it with the percolator engaged & see if it cycles through the lid part. Thanks!

Good vidio..... Not to be a downer....But the pot should Not be in the sink. Electric out let should NOT get wet. Best way too is to use a little elbow grease Brillo pad.
