I started watching this thinking here goes another video on how not to do things. I was wrong, this is exactly how I would do it myself, a lot of people try and spread the soldier over the wire. This is EXACTLY how you should do it by heating the wire first then letting the soldier soak into the wire. Great video!
Hey bro at 4:00 minutes u can twist the wire like u did but finish off with heat shrink tube. That would look killer and last for good. Edit. U are hip to heat shrink thats clean wire work.
Nice work! Rosin core solder usually has a little flux in it already so you shouldn't need to add any. For plumbing, it's mandatory because you're depending on capillary action to "suck in" the solder, but for this application with rosin core flux, the way you're doing it is perfect 👍
Dude! I wished I had watched this before I did this wire cleanup on my rig. Dang! I had issues soldering used a cheap soldering iron from Walmart, like it didn't get the wire hot enough or the solder was a pain but you prep the tip with some solder then I noticed if you have a lil pool of solder running it was easier to add more solder to the wire and move it around. But it looks so much better than the mess of crimp nuts and mess I was cleaning up. I zip tied because I didn't have any Tessa tape, but looks way cleaner. Thanks for the inspiration and knowledge brother!
@@jptheinstallguy hahahaha kind of how I feel! Just opened up youtube and it was uploaded ten minutes before clicking. Haha i was like. Oh shit no way!. I think i watched you initially when learning how to put the Double Din in to the Hyundai
Hey man, is tgere a way to solder wire straight onto the car stereo pins? Eliminating the plug in other words? My pioneer face went out... had an old single din deck layin around and cant seem to find the wiring adapter that came with it...
What temperature does the gun need to be to heat the wire up enough to melt the solder? I bought a Weller that advertises 900 degrees, but it will not melt the solder.
@@jptheinstallguy I bought a battery powered, then a corded Weller. I guess they're just good for really tiny wires. Once I bought a real deal Soldering gun, things started going differently :-)
This might seem like a dumb question. But, I seriously have no experience with wiring. What do you use to strip back the wires with? A sharp knife? Could I use my pocket knife?
not a dumb question at all bro i actually made a video of different ways to do it but i use wire strippers ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7Kq-93DVjOM.html
Jp I have a question a little off topic, I just bought a 2017 acura ilx, I installed 12 inch sub still have factory hu, taken it 2 different shops no one knows why my sub starts humming hitting super loud when I start driving
2 things for you 1st check the loc. Sometimes line output converters have an adjustable gain on them and it maybe to high that will cause humming through the sub. Also see if you have any anc(active noise canceling mics) in the car they will do that same thing as well
