I just got an airbrush myself and used this as a guide for my first airbrushed lure. Pretty pleased with the results, and looks visually striking! Only thing I did slightly different was initially brushing the black on the back of the fish, decided later to take an old toothbrush that I found and give it some speckles.
Thanks man ! I just detailed a local bass pros truck and he hooked me up with over 300 lures some rusted some brand new ! I have like 100$ I want to paint and am going to start cause of you! 💯
*Fun little bait great for ponds. This thing casts really well for its size, I was surprised. Good for when you need to downsize and gets smaller fish to commit*
l'm wanting to start painting cranks for walleye, and have learned to airbrush using a Paache single action airbrush, and am comfortable with using it. I'm thinking that it will work ok to learn, then maybe move on to something else. What's your thoughts. thanks. Love your vids.
Hey Zach, thanks for the videos. I've learned alot from watching them. I bought some hard baits that look like Pop R's or Chug Bugs but I noticed they don't have an inset for the eyes. Instead, they are raised up so you can use the eyes that I normally use. Is there another type of eye that works on these, or do you just paint them. Please reply soon because this is my favorite lure.
Got my first airbrush kit yesterday cant wait to paint my first lure your vid is great What clear coat do you use do you brush it on or dip ? What is better or spray on ?
Got a question for you. Just getting into airbrushing lures. I’ve decided to start using this pattern. However, I have a question about colors. Wanted to use fluorescent colors. Was thinking about using fluorescent pink, white, for main colors, with black for the specks. The other would use either fluorescent green, yellow, or magenta. Would those colors also be effective for lures? Thanks in advance!! BTW, your videos are AWESOME !!
Troi Bandy I think anything is worth a try. Also bright colors are great for dirty water. Putting some different colors out there that the fish haven’t seen could produce some action. Won’t know till you try! And thank you! Means a lot 🙏
Are there any companies that make bill stickers? Bill stickers are basically tape that has been pre-cut to the shape of the top of the bill, bottom and edges of the bill based on the nose design of the lure. Would be very nice to have to make professional looking lures.
ANY HELP? Hello, I'm making spoons the same way. Can you gime me an advice: How to put rings with hooks without scratching final coating and paint? I use special pliers to split rings, but the paint and final coating still rubs off. What to do? What to do...
Most of my paints are water based so I don’t have an issue with that. However a lot of people do set up a spray booth that has ventilation. Not a good answer haha but I have not had any issues
I’m looking for advice, I’m looking for a airbrush kit suitable for painting fishing lures, there’s so much on the market that I was hoping for advice from someone with experience, thanks 🙏
My paints are kinda old. So they are thick. I can't just shoot them straight out of the bottle with iwata eclipse. Maybe i should thin the whole bottles down some and shake the snot out of them. But it looks like in the videos i watch no one is even mixing there paints to thin them. Also like.of i use white it sticks inside of my gun. I gotta flush the heck out of it
By the time you get the bodies the eyes the hooks the paint the tools I could of bought a complete lure from strike king for 5$ I guess getting started is the money part but is it worth it after having some buyers???
I enjoy doing it more then making the money. So it kinda depends on the scale that you are going after. For me the hobby is supporting itself and thats all I need haha
This video is awesome and informative, nice job except for the loud thumping music at the end that blew my eardrum's. I'll be ready to pop my earbuds out next time.
