I used this on some leather sneakers, and am wondering the best thing to use to coat and protect the paint after it's dry....a clear water based varnish? Krylon clear acrylic spray? Any help on what to use specifically to seal and protect the marbling paint when on leather (leather that will need to be flexible), would be great!

There are several brands of leather sealer on the market, you would just need to read their specs to ensure it's compatible with solvent-based inks. Wait 24 hours after marbling before applying a sealer.

Thanks! I am looking around and it's pretty hard to determine whether the sealants work over solvent based inks (none seem to show that), so can you recommend a specific product? Much appreciated, been looking for this answer for a few weeks so your specific help is super appreciated!

The manufacturer(s) of leather sealers would be much better equipped to tell you more about their products and what kinds of surfaces and compounds they are designed to seal without reactivating or dissolving. Easy Marble works on a wide variety of surfaces, any of which could potentially require a sealer for longer permanence - we do not have any specific recommendations, sorry. Upon googling "leather sealer," several products come up whose manufacturers you can reach out to. Many thanks!

What was the second color added to the black when the colored cans were dipped? Clear? Thinner? I want to swirl something with JUST black like that…

I am wondering if I were to use this technique on a metallic disc, what material should the disc be made of?

Talha Iqbal Easy Marble works on most surfaces, including metal and metallic plastics. Occasionally a commercial surface may have a protective coating that the Easy Marble doesn’t adhere to as well, so you just need to test. I used on a Guitar, my question, the Paint reacts to the oil-based clear ? Only water-based clear works ? What do you recomend.

Hi, If this is to protect the easy marble on your guitar you must first coat the marble color with a waterbased brushable clear varnish. Do a test first as not all varnishes are created equal. If you wish to use a spray varnish you must completely seal the easy marble with an H20 based brushable clear coating. Wait for at least 24hrs for the easy marble to completely set before coating it with anything. Hope that helps

How would this fair on polymer clay? Nail polish and spray paint contain solvents that break down the clay over time, so I’m struggling to find a way to achieve this technique on clay

Lacey Scott We have not tested that particular surface over time (Easy Marble is solvent-based), but we recently dipped raw bisque items and found we got better results when they were sealed with a water-based decoupage medium before dipping.

Hi, My Mom just got me a bunch of these from an art store close out, I was so excited to try them out! I didn't have instructions but watched several RU-vid videos first. I just tried it and I can't figure out what went wrong, the easy marble didn't spread across the water very far and when I went to stir it up and swirl it with the other colors using a toothpick all the color pulled up right off the water in a big clump on the toothpick :( please tell me what I did wrong, or are the colors too dried out and old? Is there any way to freshen them back up, or keep them from drying up so fast. It didn't even take me that long to put the colors I wanted on the water, a couple minutes at the very most but probably not even a minute. I didn't realize the water was supposed to be cold, mine should have been pretty cool, but it wasn't from the refrigerator cold or anything, was it not cold enough? I used bottled spring water cuz I heard in some videos that hard tap water, or tap water with too many chemicals or minerals can mess it up, and my water has a lot of Chloramine and is probably hard water too, so I used bottled and all I had was Crystal Gyser spring water. Please help, I really want to use these to marble cardstock and fabric, thank you so much!!!!!

Hi, The water must be at room temperature not cold. Due to the quick drying nature of the colors, to increase working time, it is important to add a sufficient amount of the Easy Marble color onto the water and work quickly. (As a guide for 6” diameter vessel add 10 drops of the first color, 10” diameter add 20 drops) Patterns can then be created by adding a few drops of additional colors. Typical working-time is about 60-90 seconds. Surface area, depth of marbling color and room temperature all affect the color’s open/working time. I hope that helps

Can we do swirl dip on guitar with this
@MarabuNorthAmericaCreative
@MarabuNorthAmericaCreative 3 года назад
Easy Marble works on almost any surface that can withstand being submerged in water. Remove all the hardware and tape off any areas that you do not want painted. Seal it after dry with a brushable waterbased sealer. Visit the FAQ on our website for more tips.

I just looked under resources and could not find anything about air bubbles can you please tell me what I can do to avoid the air bubbles.

With only about one minute of open time, you need to work fast getting the paint dripped and swirled on top of the water before you dip. But working too fast creates bubbles. One way to save your seconds for nice slow swirling is to have all your colors shaken, jars opened and ready to go before you start dripping. Then insert your skewer or stir stick and slowly swirl the paints without raising the stick from the water. Another way to reduce tiny trapped pockets of air is to dip your object in at a slight angle.

When she stirred the paint on the water surface to make the marble affect I laughed, I use the same wooden stick and every time the paint sticks to the stick! If you lift the stick out the paint will stick to the tip. and it will mess up the pattern.
