Hi Kiki. Another great video. So many great ideas. About the hungry thing. When I was new to the Starch Solution, I did what was suggested by some in the plan. I carried some cooked potatoes around with me. Yes, I'm someone with potatoes in my purse... That way I could quickly turn to a cooked potato instead of going thru the drive thru or stopping to get a pint of ice cream. Depends on your life style, but it worked. I had no idea whether I was really hungry or not, but I was willing to stuff myself with a cooked potato, whenever I had the urge to do a binge run. I was pretty desparate, but could make the agreement with myself to eat a potato before anything else. My favorite was/is Yukon Gold. I lost 80 lbs.
Thank you for this brilliant idea. I’m only 3-4 weeks in and dream of eating my favorite foods. A potato in my bag or fat free seasoned fries sound like a super option.
My tip for sweet cravings is to make a cup of tea or cup of cocoa ( almond milk - breeze brand, spoon of cocoa powder, little bit of maple syrup) if something more substantial then I make oatmeal.
I have been a junk food vegetarian turned vegan for 25 years now. I have been following The Starch Solution for a week now, and I feel great. I have been watching you and High Carb Hannah on repeat. You all are keeping me on track.
Strength training builds and strengthens muscle. Muscle is what burns calories and excess stored fat. Muscle also weighs more than fat but looks leaner than fat. Therefore, as Kiki stated, once you've lost weight you can begin to do strength training as that will burn calories at a higher rate because your metabolism rises (due to the increase in body activity). The more active you are, the higher your metabolism will be.
Hi Kiki, I enjoy your videos and appreciate what you do however I’m a nurse and I must say that it is not true that you can’t gain muscle while losing weight. The strength you gain from working out comes from increase in muscle mass which in turn ramps up metabolism. This is done by the muscle burning fat as fuel to increase mass and the side effect is fat/weight loss. Just thought you and your followers should know.
Thank you for saying this! I too adore Kiki but this didn’t seem logical when I heard it so I did some research and quickly and thankfully found it is not true. 😊 💪🏼🙌🏽
Thank you. You have been my best nutrition influence. Frozen cherries are my favorite nighttime snack thanks to you. My weight has been consistent for 2 years thanks to your videos and cookbooks. 🌱
Thank you for this. I always wake up and never feel hungry and have heard so many times that I should be eating breakfast but I never and I mean never really wake up hungry. If I know it’ll be a while before I can eat I will eat something but it’s usually something small like some whole grain toast with almond butter or some fruit with plant based yogurt or something but thank you for saying it’s okay to not eat a meal if you aren’t hungry. Love your channel
I’ve been following you for several days and have already lost 3 lbs in 4 days. Tonight I cooked dinner for the family (10 of us, kids & grandkids) which is our normal Friday thing. We had taco salad, but I ate chips & too much guacamole and then I had brownies and ice cr3am. I feel so bad, physically. I know I don’t want to do that again for a while. I will be back on the Plantiful plan tomorrow morning. Thanks so much for these videos, they are a real blessing. And this whole way of eating is so liberating! I am never hungry, because we can eat til we’re full. So I don’t feel like I’m dieting. I’m looking forward to the future of this Plantiful life. And my husband loves all the vegetables. He doesn’t really stick to the plan, but maybe about 50% of the time he does.
Yes, Iit's possible to loss weight while gaining muscle mass , its down to caloric deficit like u said and training like crazy, increasing protein (2g per lb when cutting) intake and lots of patient...Bodybuilders do it all the time-they call it "recomp"....Great video!!
Kkki you have been such a motivation for me!, every time I fall off the wagon I listen to you and drag myself back on. Plateau when you have eliminated everything is a very hard and demotivating place to be
Hey kiki, I have received your book..my friends brought it in the US.. , and now they are here in South Africa. .. I am so happy.. Thank you for always charing and taking time to explain stuff too.
Hello ladies! I’m so happy to be here with Kiki and the Plantiful Kiki family. I have been super passionate about watching Kiki videos. Literally, cried because of her spirit and for feeling like I’ve finally found someone who gets me. Thank you Kiki for all of you ideas. I’m super excited to lose this weight before my wedding. You make me happy 😃.
It’s been maybe a month, I haven’t lost weight. There was a small 2 pound flux. On the brighter size, my jeans fit a lot better ❤️ and my confidence is up.
Hi I've just made a breakfast like yours, overnight oats with banana and blueberries, and a spoonful of yoghurt, and a bowl with a small handful of spinach half a orange and juice. Delisous.
Would LOVE to see a video of you exchanging the starchy veggie option for more lentils or beans, thats shat my tummy and body likes for muscles :) I love watching all the colors you bring to yout plste, just beautiful kiki!
Thank you so much Kiki....you have reinspired me to continue on to weight loss.ive been vegan for 5 years.....but still overweight.....and I've lost 4 pounds this week!
I just adore you! I appreciate the way in which you tell your truth, purely unapologetic. Your message is sincere, your personality is authentic, and I am so grateful for the information you share with us, thank you!
Thanks Kiki. I'm struggling to keep off 24 pounds I've lost. I have more to go, but this much has made a big difference. I've lowered my A1C blood sugar test and my doctor is impressed and pleased. My problem is I really hate to cook so my struggle is always there.
I am not really big into cooking too! But this diet is perfect for people like us. I eat potatoes, Mexican rice bowls or Asian rice bowls. Quick, easy and simple!
I really like that the recipes aren't absolutely ridiculous. I've found that a lot of vegan recipes tend to require absurd amounts of expensive ingredients, which makes me feel like I can't afford the lifestyle tbh. But these meals are healthy, nutritious, and made with everyday items one can find at their local grocer. Thank you for sharing!
I really enjoyed this Q and A and hope you do another one in future. I need to incorporate more exercise in my daily routine as well as more vegetables. You look amazing!
I love how simple you make things! I often over complicate things, I have been following this lifestyle for a year but I haven't actually started losing weight till I simplified my routine. You look amazing and are goals!!! 😄👍 Your cheese sauce is fire btw!!!
❤Love, Love❤️ how very brutally honest you are!! When someone, me, is totally ready to hear ALL of this transparency, it is exactly what I’ve needed and wanted to hear. I did the boating boiled chicken and brown rice and never, ever eat fruit, especially a banana 🍌. Yeah. If I can survive that BRUTAL diet, this is HEAVEN. Again, Thank YOU, KiKi.❤
Funny thing happened. Because of you, I did a height check. It turns out that I’m 5’1” +3/4. It changed my weight goal. I really only have 5-6 lbs to lose.
Hi Kiki, actually some people can recomp (lose fat and build muscle) at the same time. I did it. I had to experiment with my diet, and higher protein works for me to do this, along with consistent resistance and cardio training. Everyone is different, but I was definitely able to shed body fat/weight (50 pounds actually) and build shapely muscle at the same time.
Love mango too, so much that I named my doberman mango the red queen, i lost her a year ago and I miss her so much. Everything looks really good thanks for sharing
You have inspired me! Starting again today. (The only time we fail is when we quit.) I’m already strength training, I need to eat better and your recipes and ideas are giving me some Imphal!
@@edyann 15 pieces of different fruit?! Wow! Sad to say but they don’t even sell that many varieties where I live. If it’s not apples, oranges, bananas, mango or pineapple, and maybe a papaya then that’s about all you get!
@@StarchWithPlants I'm in Mexico. We have a lot of different varieties of exotic fruit here! But I mean- maybe I exaggerated a bit. I'll repeat some like apples, haha. And I count dates as fruit as well. ☺
Kiki, I've found Your videos so inspirational because the way you eat is so easy and fuss-free. Please make more videos with how you eat and recipes. Thanks
Kiki I don’t know what kind of brown rice you’re using but I’m using brown jasmine rice and it is so good! Maybe it’s the brand. Almost tastes like regular jasmine. Great video btw!
I find that when I hit plateau I stop focusing on the weight loss for while like few days or week I still eat clean whole foods I just allow myself to have maybe more starches than veggies and I include some wholegrains bread or some lmore avocado but if nuts and after that my body starts letting go of more weight when I go back to 50/50 plates and on track.
I STILL CRAVE THOSE MUNCHIES BUT GETTING BETTER OVER THE TIME. Theres so much help here to help my commitment. Thank u for the inspiration. I have always done strength training even when I gained weight & it made me feel really good. Plus one stays stronger in the long one. I make teriyaki tofu & bake it . I love it . I use soy milk
The Power of Habit is a great book that helped me realize what triggered my snack cravings. I’ve realized that when I’m feeling sleepy/tired, I crave junk food. So now I do my best to address the tired feeling rather than just reaching for food.
Made your ranch for the first time today, extra green onions. OMG! It was amazing! Thank you so much for changing the game! Can't wait to get your book!
Just had my usual oat goats with cauliflower and some fruit, added some steamed kale with orange sections and juice squeezed over it, LOVE IT!! So fresh and such an easy way to start the day with greens. Thanks Kiki!
Hello so the plates you make look really big portions I would like to know do you finish both plates of food you make. Like the kale salads with orange pieces and a bowl of quinoa strawberries and bananas? Do you eat it all? Or do you only eat half of the carb plate with is the quinoa?
I love your videos! I eat your potato waffle recipe a lot. One thing I will say is you can indeed "build" muscle while in a deficit... your muscles will just use your stored fat for what it needs. This is why ppl who start lifting look smaller and tone but the scale doesn't move much . I HIGHLY recommend weights, even if you get some cheap 15lbs ones from Ross or something is totally worth it.
I started this way of eating today. I had salad w a few beans and a small bowl of oatmeal w a small banana. I’m terrified of carbs after so many years of all kinds of diets which do work but are not sustainable. Thanks for the useful tips!
Please don’t feel bad about the junk food. It just shows us your human and that we’re not the only ones slipping into that path. Appreciate the transparency 🙌🙌🙌
i believe squeezing citrus over your greens or adding orange sections to your greens helps with the iron absorption from the spinach kale etc? also helps make it more appetising for those of us who arent kale fans.
Kiki I made this cheese sauce today and I’m hooked. Even my mom who is skeptical of all vegan options love love love this sauce. Thank you so much because I really struggle not to have cheese now I definitely know that I can with this sauce. ♥️
Hi Kiki, wow I can't believe the things people say. Anyway i was reading comments to read success in weight loss. Anyway you are beautiful inside and out. And the lip color looks great! 👏
I didnt think i would like frozen cherries but tried it anyway. Turns out I LOVE them! 😍 After that i tried frozen wild blueberries. YUM! 😄 Next up, im gona try tropical mix! 😋 I never would have tought of having frozen fruit just on its own like that. Thankyou !! 😁
For as sweet chocolate craving, peppermint chocolate chia seed pudding is SUCH a great dessert! Made with: 2 + 2/3c homemade oat milk ( _which is just 1cup old fashioned oats, add 4c water, blend in Vitamix on super high speed for ONLY 20 SECONDS, strain in nut bag, add 2Tbsp sugar, half tsp salt, 1tsp vanilla, yum!_ ) ½ cup unsweetened cocoa ½ cup maple syrup ½ cup chia seeds ½ tsp peppermint 1 tsp vanilla essence (although I tend to use 2 tsp) Mix all ingredients together - I usually pour the milk into the Vitamix jar, then put the Vitamix on the very lowest setting while I add all of the ingredients. Helps the cocoa powder not sit on top. Let it sit overnight. I usually leave it in the Vitamix jar and stick the entire Vitamix jar into the fridge overnight. Next day, blend in Vitamix on super high speed until really really smooth. I let it run for about 2minutes or so and taste it to make sure it's not gritty. I don't think this will work with a regular blender. Gotta be a Vitamix I believe (or some other high-speed blender to get it really smooth). Pour into 1c mason jar servings (5-6 servings), cover and return to the fridge. Keeps for at least a week but never lasts that long. SOooo good and pretty healthy.
sorry mate but im a dopey old cow. am confused here. is the "2/3c" signifying...that we should use two or three cups milk? OR does it mean....use two thirds of a cup of milk? and... um....all the others that say "1/2c" ....they are just... half a cup measurements right? they are NOT saying one or two cups of cocoa/syrup/chia hey? or are they?
@@CastledarkDweller27 Oh my! I just noticed I had a typo! Whoops! Hope no-one made it yet. That's TWO and two-thirds cups of milk, the rest are half cups. Sorry! Edited! And I also added the recipe for homemade oat milk. NOTE: You cannot heat homemade oat milk much at all. Can only drink it but it's delish! That said, I still love it in overnight oats heated for 2mins in the microwave the next morning. 😊 (one minute at a time and mixing with a spoon in between)
Hi Kiki, love your channel and bbn the new format. When are you doing a new cookbook with all your new recipe ideas. I have both your cookbooks and love them
I love the Q&A style, especially the commentary on what you did to trouble shoot. I personally have to count calories because I will totally lie to myself and tell myself I didn't have that much of such and such, and that slice of sweet potato pie, that's practically a health food! Ha, but Cronometer tells me the truth. Thank you.
Thank you, Kiki 🤍 You’re super helpful as always 🙏 I would love to add something regarding weight lifting while losing body weight. I’m a big fan of Anthony Williams and Dr. Neil Barnard. Both say if you’re struggling with Adrenal gland fatigue you probably want to lose weight and detox your body first then go to the gym. If you constantly get hungry on a plant based diet it’s because of your Adrenal glands working hard to give you boost of a daily energy and going to the gym puts even more pressure on them. Also if you’re not losing weight on a plant based diet it’s because of Thyroid gland issues. Latest Dr Barnard’s video about Hormones says you should add iodine to your diet. And that’s what I did when I hit my weight plateau. Sometimes it’s not only what we eat it’s what kind of nutrients we are getting. And iodine is not found in plants it’s in kelp.
I make your standard cheese sauce but substitute the cashews with PB2 cashew powder to cut the fat. It’s my favorite. I do use healthy fats like seeds, avocado, tahini etc and am losing weight.
1st of all thank you for this you have opened my eyes. I personally have hit a plateau after losing 243lbs i was doing low carb low fat ive been stuck in the same weight after 8 months i have doen extra walking extra cardio weights and still stuck in the same weightand just 2 days of changing ive lost 2 lbs iam amazed so i left low carb low fat no more thank you i ordered the book you recommended. Thank you thank you. Would anyone know if i can combine this with intermittent fasting or its not recommended. God bless all of you with your journey 🙏
Thanks for the great info Kiki. Can you tell us about your weight training plan? Do you work out at home or the gym? I’m wondering if there’s a good online program. TY.
Thank you Kiki for your videos!! I always enjoy them!! I just ordered your plantifully lean cookbook!!!! I can’t wait to get it!!! I was reading some of the comments about your makeup. It looks great!! However...you are naturally beautiful and don’t necessarily need it! Either way you look fabulous!!
Loved this, thank you! Part of it is because of the message but also because you just seem like a lovely, lovely person . Your husband is one lucky guy! ; )
