I wanted to show you guys how I do a quick, messy bun when I'm in a hurry. I think messy buns are so easy and effortless looking, plus just cool! I have really fine and thin hair, so this is a perfect tutorial if you have a similar hair type and struggle getting volume and texture in your buns. I hope you enjoy!! xx

Same, but I suppose it’s easier to not snap hair ties and not waste money on them, and not using tons of conditioner so there’s no tangles 😂😂

No exaggeration, this video just changed my life. I’m 25 and have never mastered the messy bun. My thin, straight hair just does not like to bend, let alone “fluff.” Whatever that wrist motion is that Julia does as she wraps the band around the first time just changed the game for me. YES! I can have my hair in curlers, soaked in spray for 2 days and within an hour of taking it out it's nearly straight again 🙃

I've tried a lot of methods and this is still the easiest and best. My hair is shorter and slightly thicker (or maybe just damaged from going blonde lol) and I like to use your exact method but with an "invisi-bobble", loosen it a bit and then tuck any floppy ends back under the hair tie. I also find if I first put it into a regular pony first and gently back comb the pony with my fingers before attempting the bun, it works great every time! No Bobby pins needed. :)

Yesssssss!!! Finally!!!! I've watched other tutorials for messy buns but watching this one finally got it to exactly how I want it.. THANK YOU so much for this. I make sure I wrapped my hair with the tie every time I make a loop so that it creates a rounder shape. My hair's thinner and finer than yours and there are usually "bald" spots when I tie my hair. Does anyone have any tips other than using a hair product to cover it?

If the spots are not in places where you can arrange hair over them (and I am one of these people, I have traction alopecia over my left ear from too many years of super-tight ponytails and ballerina buns), the quickest fix is to find eyeshadow in a corresponding color to your hair and gently dot it onto your scalp with a blush brush. It does not rub off on anything and is a subtle and convincing solution. Hope this helps.

I never thought about looping it at the end like that! My mom taught me basically how to do a tight bun ig. I would wrap the elastic around once and have a ponytail then take the hair and wrap it around and use the elastic to hold it. I always hated that look and preferred to just have a ponytail but this is so much more simpler

I used to have SUPER thick hair, like it couldn't have possibly been any thicker. I used to complain cuz it would feel so heavy on my head. I just take a scrunchie, do a bunch of folding, and wrap the scrunchie around the mess I created. There’s my messy bun tutorial 🤪

speakingofbailey I much prefer scrunchies to elastic bands, any day. They barely pull out 1 or 2 single hairs or none at all. Compared to elastic bands, that end up ripping out at least 6, 8 or 10 hairs whilst trying to style it. And again afterwards, when trying to get the band out.

Thank you!!! I have watched NUMEROUS other vlogs, for thin, fine hair "messy bun" and "FINALLY" found one, I "CAN" do!! I am 61 yrs old and fingers not as they were in my 20's, 30's or 40's so, have trouble with dexterity! Your vlog, I did it right, the 1st. try! However, I used dry shampoo in place of hair spray. I noticed the hairspray technique worked very well. My hair is curly if I style it a certain way but it's still fine despite me having a lot of hair. It's wavy normally. So yah sometimes it gets too slippy and the hairspray thing helped a lot!

I watched about 109 Facebook reels on messy buns. I Really thought I could do them. With thin hair. I was able to doctor a couple of them up. The best ones require you to create a mound , a fake mound on top of your bun, and then wrap around that. It entails using s crunchies at the base. And then wrapping your real hair around. And use the scrunchie at the base before you fold it over. Wow. It’s hard with thin hair!

I have some questions. I have extremely thick hair and I wanted to know if it hurts to take out elastics. It hurts me a lot and ends up getting stuck. 😭
