Just to make things clear, I use this method after a day of flying where I have a bunch of fully charged 1S lipos I want to bring back down to 3.8v. I don't put in random lipos with unknown voltages into the parallel charger like some of these comments are suggesting. They are all at 4.2v. I do mention this in the video and it would not be safe to plug in lipos at different voltages.

Nothing wrong with the other way, but I've been doing it this way for years and don't see a need to switch away from doing it my way.

I think the confusion arises because when plugging in the three batteries you give an example where 2 are fully charged and other is already at storage but don’t complete the thought. You plug it in despite variance explained. Might save yourself some feedback by posting some text over that bit to clarify. You start video by saying you do this with all your fully charged batteries but that part seems to contradict the opening. Hope that helps! Thanks for all your hard work and great videos.

Agreed and Nick understands that they are in series. He references the article to help other understand visually the wiring for those that needs/desires the added visual aid. On a 6S config you could use jumpers in the empty connectors to reduce it down to the number of cells you wish to charge.

The point is still valid that we really need a multiport charger/discharger for 1s packs that has individual charging circuits so you can just pop a bunch of 1s packs of differing voltages onto the charger and set them all to storage. Whoever brings this to market will certainly get my money. Bonus points if it has 12+ ph2.0 ports.

Actually a nice workaround, I charge all my Lipos like I do already with the little 1s charger, but then before putting them away I plug it in my main charger to discharge them till storage voltage. A little more effort equals to a longer battery life. Thank you Albert, very useful and money saving tip! Have a good one ✌🏼😁

Good thing I had a back up parallel board because the one I have like yours failed on me. My charger beeps with a warning when I try to proceed with charging. The backup one has been bullet-proof so far.

Which storage voltage you use for high voltage Lipos? The same as standard lipos?

3.8 or 3.85 is fine, but I use 3.8 personally.

This is basically the same way you use a larger parallel charging board for multicell lipos. This is actually really old school. I guess even common knowledge isn't so common after all.

You can also make your own charging board that can be set up as a 6s 2p, or something similar.

Pues los de Aliexpress, te vendían hace unos años unos cables que servían para cargar 2 baterías 1s como sí fuesen una 3s, se conectaba a su propio conector y te las balanceaba como si de una 3s se tratase... Así podías ponerlas igualmente en modo storage sin más, creo que fue Bangood también trabajo con estos inventos.

I usually land at 3.1v when under load. It usually recovers to 3.5v then I storage charge them

I have a Tenergy TB6B Balance charger/discharger and just bought a High Voltage 1S battery charger(6 plugs with USB and XT60 Male port on it). I was wondering if I should buy a XT60 female to Banana plugs to attach to the Energy charger to charge. Is it ok to charge/connect to the 1C board without balance plug? Thanks.

Hi can I ask, I have a new skyrc e680 balance charger. I have 1s lipo battery's. My parallel board is similar to the one in the video apart from mine has 6x 1s -3s ports and also has 6x xt30 connections. When trying to storage charge more than one 1s battery it does not recognise anything other than one battery. I select the appropriate amps for the amount of batteries and their mah in total and select 1s as the voltage. but soon as i try to start it says connection break. All batteries are fine and so is the board. it was same with a previous board (6x1s) i purchased that was not a parallel board ( i thought it was) and it has 2 banana connectors much like the board i have now can charge one battery but not more than one other wise it says connection break. is it me or is it the charger? But, in video if balance charging 2s + batteries you can connect them to the xt30 connectors and get power and the board i presume the other ports are balance ports. But, with a 1s battery how does that work? there is only one lead and i guess it powers directly via that lead but charger does not recognise them past one battery, what am i doing wrong?

Simples! When I get home I just sit down and fly all my still charged 1s lipo's down to storage (and annoy the wife in the process). I'd rather spend 30 mins doing that than waste em lol.

Great video! How do you check the Internal resistance of a 1S batt? ISDT charger does not let me check that. If its a multi cell batt then it does.

You need to make an adapter to make it look like a multicell lipo...

So it will make sure all the cells are balanced even without a balance leed? Also wouldn't this work for charging as well?

There is no balancing here because the lipos are connected in parallel and not serial like in a 2S or 3S lipo. And yes, all the lipos will have the same voltage.

@@AlbertKimTV Ah ok so you'd set amps likewise right? e.g., 4x 300mah would be set to 300mah and not 1.2a (unless you were wanting to discharge at 4c). And just to confirm, this would work just as well charging? Thanks!

No, if you have 4x 300mah 1S in a parallel charger you would set it to 1.2a total to charge a 1C. The parallel board makes it look like one larger 1S lipo so 4x300mah = 1200mah total. To the charger, it just looks like a 1S 1200mah lipo. It can't tell the difference.

Hello, do you have any idea way 1s battery swell? I am using HV battery. After flying I let my battery cool down for at least 1-2 hrs before set it to storage mode.

3C charge rate on these small lipos is not recommended unless you don't mind risking a fire

Nick’s method used a balanced lead which is preferred if batteries are different voltages. You can buy those rather than making your own. I have a six battery version I bought at Micro Motor Warehouse. But it seems with all these 4-6 channel chargers someone can make a 1s charger that can do storage. Seems strange they haven’t.

Dumb question. How do you figure out the Amp setting with 1S lipos when charging with the Tenergy? I usually just put a decimal in front and use that. Ex;: 450 = 0.4A. Is this correct? Thanks.

It's just math.... 1.0 amps = 1000 mah, so 450mah = 0.45 amps. So you should choose 0.4 or 0.5A.

Okay, so all lipos should have the same voltage when charging, but what if one has a voltage of, for example, 3.8V and the other one of 3.9? Is that bad ?

Nick’s method uses a balance lead and has merit on its own. One could argue the safety benefits of Nicks solution. I like your option as well. I would recommend NOT making these subtle digs at other reviewers. Win added subscribers on your own merits, not by running down other reviewers. I enjoy all the popular channels and the different views and approaches of each.

I was not making any dig at Nick. Also, I never mentioned there was anything inherently wrong with his method. Only thing I stated was I felt the way I did it was easier. That's it. So many overly sensitive people on the Internet. I like Nick and his channel. Just offering other options. All I get is hate for offering help and information. No good deed goes unpunished.

They were all at 4.2v. However, I have done the experiment where the voltages are different. The lower voltage lipo gets charged by the others and those get drained. However, the lower voltage lipo gets charged at a very high C rating so not good for that one. I'm assuming other people will storage charge based on the fact they have fully charged lipos that they want to bring back down. What other situation am I missing here that I am getting so many negative comments?

Albert Kim my main concern is that someone might practice storage charging larger packs with this practice and things might go bad. Charging videos are always a hornets nest of comments 😀.
