This is a link to Board Dudes cork roll, which is the material I used in the video
amzn.to/3EVc5ku
These rectangle sheets of adhesive cork are 6mm thick for a more 3d brick
amzn.to/3Yk6pHv
This is a long roll of cork meant to be used with Cutting machines like the Cricut and Silhouette. The pattern on the cork is coarse.
amzn.to/3SOgsDI
There aren't many left in stock, but this 8 pack of colored cork is really cool. It includes classic brick colors and a couple other fun ones.
amzn.to/3y5W4nS
Learn how to make easy bricks for your foundation, walkway, wall, fireplace or whatever else you have in mind. This technique and the two application methods can be adapted for use with multiple materials like egg carton stone, Styrofoam tray bricks, cereal box pavers, etc. You can make bricks for a dollhouse, diorama or Fashion Doll/Barbie.
Here's the video I watched to learn how to insert a Table to make my own brick pattern using a text/word document. I set my margins to zero. The edges of the pages won't have any lines printed because it's outside of the printer head's range.
• Make PRINTABLE gridlin...
Brick Sizes:
1:24 scale - 4.5mm tall x 10mm long
1:12 scale - 5/16" tall x 5/8" long
To simplify things, I make 1:12 bricks 1/4" tall x 3/4" long. They're slightly out of scale, but you get more coverage, hence less time and less work.
1:6 scale - 5/8" tall x 1 1/4" long
I have lots of projects planned ranging from abandoned miniatures, furniture makeovers, dioramas, accessories, kits and Dollhouse Miniatures in multiple scales. I also have a large Harry Potter build planned for 1" scale.

Using the common red brick as an example you can protect the colour with acrylic Matt varnish, let it dry then spray with hair spray, let it dry then a wash of acrylic white, let it dry. Then using a brush moistened with water remove some areas of the white paint. This then gives the appearance of a distressed white washed wall. You can use this method for various colours even by applying varnish over your distressed white paint look to protect it. then applying another colour and distressing that as you did with the white. Hope this makes sense.

You have a gift for clearly explaining great crafting ideas. Many years ago, I messed around with a cork retaining wall for my model railroad layout. The texture was great but having to glue pieces of cork roadbed together for the desired height and length was far from ideal. Thin rolled sheets of cork that are readily available today solve that problem. Come to think of it, a block/stone retaining wall made from thin rolled cork would be a good contrast to the 'poured concrete' walls made with foam core/strip wood already on my layout. Alas, cutting HO scale bricks isn't happening with the tools I have at my disposal, lol. Thanks for the inspiration!

I had to google it. I didn't know what a German Smear was. If I was doing 1:6 brick, I'd take the time to add that detail. Classic! May be too small to see at 1:12 though.

Brilliant! Now I suppose I have no reason not to replace the printed sheets of "brick" in my project with something much more realistic.........the things I learn from you and the other accomplished miniaturists is invaluable. Thank you!

Glad I could help! That will be a worthwhile project. You just reminded me I have some printed brick I could replace on a room box.

Thanks for the nice video. There is a tool for rounding corners, which i use for laminated stuff. Should probably work like a charm for these too.

The very best Brock results of anyone. Not easy, but definitely the very best look. Oh, wait, I see the video at the end has your more dimensional Brick tutorial so, by that standard, this one may be easier by comparison. In any regard fantastic.

I think they're both easy! It's just one easy step after another. This one is less messy and better for surfaces where you can't add much thickness like to a floor or dollhouse foundation.

That's true! 1:12 dollhouses take up a lot of room, really fast.

Have you thought about stacking the bricks and then sanding off the sharp corner, stack by stack?
@queencityminis
@queencityminis 6 месяцев назад
I haven't tried sanding them, but I did stack them to slice multiple corners off at once with a craft knife. Doing them one at a time is more precise, but also more time consuming.

First let me say between you and Ayra I may eventually become good at minis. So thanks! Now let me mention the adhesive on the back of my Amazon cork roll , holy cow! Don’t let anything touch it before you cover it with your pattern. I may still have bits of cork glued to random body parts and craft tools. However my bricks eventually looked awesome. Including the one on my forehead. Love you child! Keep making!!

P.s. I’ll be buying the sheets of cork next time. The bricks are truly incredible.
@queencityminis

That's hilarious 😆 The adhesive is definitely very sticky. You can imagine how unfun it is to peel the backing off each brick and try to get them in the right place on the first try.
