it says that it can't install the games in the chosen folder because the destination drive is not mounted. What do I do?

Hey I recently was forced to move over to the EA app. I have very little disk space left on my Mac and I need to use an external drive to play my sims game. Do you know if the process is similar? Or do you have any resources that I could use that could help me? Thanks for this video it was incredibly useful when I was still able to use origin.

i have the 1TB and my game was working perfectly fine and then my origin needed a new folder and i tried but it didn’t work then it says sims 4 is already running and it’s not

Hey! I recently redownload Sims4 directly onto my external drive along with the SimsPacks. My Electronic Arts Folder is still in my normal document folder on my MacBook. The game works, but it somehow doesn’t recognize or can’t find the Packs Folder. It says I need to reload the game in order to activate them or something. I don’t know what to do. Can you help?

Yeah, I think that's it. Do you have any recommendations on what I can do about it? I have already tried reloading it, clearing my cache folder and repairing the game, but sadly nothing seems to work. @@gamerimage

Yeah. I was sad because I promoted it for so long and it felt like I was spreading misinformation bc I kept it up so long. But I never found out how to fix the "The Sims 4 is already running " error after the fact

How to play with your mods on external drive without using a symlink?

Unfortunately, I haven't solved this one yet. At the moment using a symlink is the only way AND it causes issues.

When I go to select those "two items" (sims 4 and sims 4 packs, the sims 4 app is frozen and won't let me select it ? Any idea why or how to fix??

The Sims 4 app shouldn't be running while you move these files (I guess I didn't mention to close it.) Use the Activity Monitor to force close The Sims 4 or hold down the alt or option key, right click The Sims 4 icon in the Dock and then click "force quit." Let me know if this answers your question

Simply copy and paste to the folder on your hard drive or follow the links to the mods folder and paste them there. Either way is fine

If you open a finder window and do a search from the Macintosh HD, for "The Sims 4.app" you might find where it really is

@@tiiredzzz the one in documents is not the entire game, just your mods, saves, and tray items. These need to be handled differently. Unfortunately it's not. I used to have a video over that but then The Sims 4 would constantly give a "the Sims 4 is already running" and no matter what I tried I could never make the external work with the symbolic link. 😔😔😔 I do apologize

after the game had finished repairing itself it started saying "finalizing" it's been finalizing for a while now idk if i should still wait or if i should close origin and reopen it?

Same happened to me so what i did was delete and reinstall the game straight to my external hdd. But the only problem more is that besides the game & maybe packs, rest is on my mac (save files & mods as well), i would love to move the rest to the external hdd too 😢

hey everyone, great comments here I appreciate all of the help in trying to get this viewer some help! I would recommend rebooting your machine, trying to run a new repair in orange and if that doesn’t work, go ahead and do a full uninstall of the game and try again

Thanks guys! I just had to reboot Origin and the second time it worked. However, I will warn that if I wait more than 24hrs or so to play again, Origin takes a million years to reverify my packs one by one before I can play again so it’s a recurring thing that takes a lot of time to account for if you have a lot of packs like me. (Idk if this happens to anyone else). Also, you can’t move mods or saves off your Mac’s drive so just fyi you will have to keep all files except the game and pack folder (shown in the video) on your actual Mac in order to play using your external hard drive.

Moving the game should be separate from mods. The documents folder which is where the mods live should not have been touched during this process. If they were you'll need to put them back
