Quick little tip for you guy if you just take a grocery bag and put it under the gas cap and then put the gas cap back on you can turn the motor over with a full tank of gas and don't have to worry about spill 😎

Thank You for this demonstration! I am a 7 year old single woman & know nothing about lawn mowers. I have a 21", Self Propelled Briggs & Straitton on a troy Bilt lawn mower. I can't afford to pay someone to mow my grass. This morning I went out and mowed for about 10 minutes. Had to stop to move water hose & can't start the mower again. I filled it with gas. It needs an oil change & my neighbor, a wonderful 18 yr old young man is going to change it for me. However the gas tank is full so I have to mow until that is gone. Didn't think of that or would Not have filled the tank all of the way. I have subscribed to your channel. Your demo was the very best that I saw on RU-vid.

If you've just added a full tank of gas but then remembered you need to change the oil use a plastic bag over the fuel fill hole or a rubber glove and screw the cap back on. Worked for me.

I looked all over for the drain plug and turned to your video for help - who knew? Pour it out the same way you pour it in. Done! Thanks for posting this.

Just repowered my old Briggs 3.5 mower with a Briggs and Stratton 550EX and when mounting the new motor, I was puzzled as to where the drain plug was !! Well now now I know ... thanks

older models have a drain plug...great idea. so much simpler than tipping a mower. You did not have to spill gasoline.

nice video. I have an old small Gatorade bottle with marks for 16 ounces. I fill that up and then dump that in the mower. No measuring or anything except one confirmation check it’s at the top hole

Who’s the rocket scientist that thought it was a good idea to remove drain plugs ?

If you own any car ramp, roll your mower on top and tilt it over, won't break your back. I bought some gorilla ramp from wally mart and works like a charm.

You would think the engineering geniuses could design an oil change on these things to make it easier than a wrestling match to change oil. But then again I’m sure they are quite happy to sell you a new mower because it’s such a hassle to change the oil on these damn things.

Go buy a pump from lowes or homedepot in the lawnmower section so you don't have to be lifting your mower....i got mine for 15.00 at lowes...less time and less work on your body..lol..have a great day

I never thought to tip the machine upside down like that. Good idea! I pumped mine out with a small pump, kinda a pain.

I use a clean and empty shampoo bottle pump to pump the oil out, though I realize most people eschew siphoning or suction in deference to gravity or pouring which probably gets that last drop. My big question is where is the filter? It seems that the 550ex has no oil filter. I use synthetic oil and it remains amber colored and clean between yearly changes, though I still would expect some type of filter to exist.

One of the best mowers had mine for 10 years never changed the oil. Might have to change the front tires out first 😂.

I don't know why mower and engine manufactures don't put the quantity of oil that goes in the engine. It would save a lot of looking for your owner's manual. Good video, thanks.

I've done the drain plug and pulling the oil stick and just pulling out the oil stick and dumping it is a lot easier and faster! Neater too!

LOL they make a freaking siphon pump specifically for these no drain plug units. But I'm thinking Imma gonna gangster it like you just did hahahah Thanks .

I usually remove the oil fill spout get a turkey baster and suck up the old oil. Takes a couple of minutes then install fill spout refill with oil.

There is a drain plug on the bottom I believe you have three mounting bolts and then three other bolts the middle one is usually a drain plug but very small sometimes gunk gets in them

Great video. Thanks. I purchased a YTD mower with the B & S EX 550 engine as a clearance item from Walmart. Unfortunately, it was missing the oil filler cap and the right owner's manual. I have searched for replacements and even found one on Amazon that was stated to work with that engine. It did not come close. Any suggestions on how I can find the right one?

Nice! If your not concerned about your push handle, tape something over it so you won’t scratch it when you tip it over.

Extremely easy for engineering to design a drain plug in the bottom. BUT, that would reduce the profits. Eff the consumers 🖕🖕

why not an easy off plug? This drain style is not likely to drain gunk on thembottom of the oil tank. Also, any oil drain instructions mention to pull the spark plug,to avoid an unexpected start.dont know why this vid omits this.

Dumbest cost-cutting design ever for a mower! My son gave me his Snapper and I couldn’t find a drain plug ‘cause there isn’t one. Turning the mower upside down is so ridiculous! Crappy design.
