Incredible job man! Looks like you will have solid soundproofing with this. Like you said, I've seen other youtube vids of people using PVC pipes and acoustic blankets but you took it to the next level with your design. You've definitely inspired me to make something like this. Really liked your song too, keep putting out tracks!

This is the best best affordable type sound booth video I have seen. I wanted to use pvp because it is easier to make than the wooden type frames and this one is the sturdiest construction idea for a soundproof room. Thanks so much! Oh yeah, love the neon lights!

bought myself a $100 Gazebo / Pergola (200cm x 200cm) and placed it in my basement on a noise absorbing rug. I left the outside "walls" off and placed moving blankets on all five sides. Got myself a 10M led strip for the inside and some bass traps in the corners and foam on the inside off the blankets. Super easy set-up for recording with my D18 and singing at the same time straight into my iPhone using the Roland Go Pro mix. Call me cheap but I just love my little "tent" inside my basement. Nice and cozy. Love your channel man!!

OMG thanks...been looking for a solution to upstairs antagonistic neighbors. My complex thought it a bright idea to install hardwood floors with no sound barriers between the floors lol.... need I say more. Needed a space where I could get away from the intentional impacts sounds made when they her the slightest sound from my apartment from me talking in a normal voice. Now I can work from home, study, sing, talk on the phone etc and not be tortured inside my apartment. This will get me through the next months remaining until my lease expires. Thanks a mil!

Nice video, great work! My question is, if you had wanted to, could you have hung acoustic blankets on the inside, on the other side of the sheets, just to give another layer of soundproofing? In that way, it would be like adding acoustic foam to a Whisper Room. Or maybe that would be overkill, IDK.

Very practical Ty, super cool. I wanted to ask a couple questions.. How is the ventilation - Is it something you think would be too stuffy to be inside in summer/in a warm climate? And what were the total costs on the build? Thanks for sharing
@tyday2912
@tyday2912 3 года назад
The ventilation is something that I did not account for/decided not to include. I have not had the heat get so bad that I could not stand it and I've spent 6+ hours in it only leaving for bathroom breaks. However, I am in a basement that can tend to stay pretty cool so that helps. I would definitely take it into consideration and if you're someone that gets hot easily then I would look into including it. The total cost was right about $700 USD, but I believe it can be done cheaper. I bought extra material to account for mistakes.

Mariana, I can't lie, that is a tough question. I will say this much, it certainly makes a significant difference with dampening the sound and would be much better than just doing blankets. I just cut one side of it while the other acted as a hinge and I put duct tape along that so it had a bit more support.

Quick question did you cut out the door and then tape it ?
@tyday2912
@tyday2912 3 года назад
I cut out 2 sides, the top and the opening... for the hinge I cut one side of the board and put duct tape on the uncut side as a reinforcement.

Did you have any issues with the Rockwool? I have everything but then I started getting paranoid because of the fibers.

No, I handled it with my hands and did not have any issues.

@@PhoenixEchoesAudio a year in and its still holding strong. the only issues that I've run into are with the velcro. over time it just starts to give a little here and there but they've been easy fixes. The structural aspect itself has been great.

Sorry, but HOW to BREATH inside of this construction ? Is it any VENTILATION somewhere?
@tyday2912
@tyday2912 3 года назад
So I didn't account for ventilation, which I absolutely should have and would recommend, but there is a small gap with the door that does allow some air flow. I haven't had any issues with it getting too hot in it though.

Bro, you should have played some music in your small room and gone outside and recorded it on camera before and after the build.... it helps us gauge how effective it is ...

I can't remember approximately, because I'm a dumb dumb and didn't keep records, but I know it was right around the $700 USD range.

What kind of couplers did you use
@tyday2912
@tyday2912 4 года назад
For the corners I used side outlet corner joints. On the ceiling I used T joints.

Unfortunately I didn't account for ventilation, so it can get pretty hot, but nothing unbearable.
