A super quick snack cracker that I promise is totally addicting! This is a treat my mom used to make when I was in high school. I remembered it recently and thought I would share it with you. Simple ingredients like oyster crackers, vegetable oil and some ranch dressing mix blended together and baked for an amazing out of hand snack.
I used Katzcradul's ranch dressing mix that you can find here: bit.ly/1JQe8mq
You can use the packets but you will need two of them for this recipe. I also added a bit of onion powder and garlic powder for good measure. You can choose to add extra fresh or dried dill if you like or whatever pleases your own palate.
These are a great gift to have available for drop in guests, or a nice hostess gift so you never go anywhere empty handed!
I hope you give these ranch snack crackers a try and I hope you love them!
Happy Eating and Happy Holidays!

My grandmother would make these when I was a kid. I’ve asked her to make them for the last 30 years but she can remember the recipe. Thank you for helping me find something I enjoyed from my childhood to share with my kids.

We snack on these already, but what a treat! To have them flavored. Thanks for the recipe. These will also bring added flavor to plain broth soup. Merry Christmas to you and your family. Your Maple Cranberry Compote has been a huge success with my family. I've had to make 4 batches since Thanksgiving. Thanks again.

I make these every Christmas to take to parties and dinners and gatherings. No matter how many you take, there will never be any left over. This year I'm making six bags' worth for four different events. One year I made myself a batch after the holidays just to have around the house. I ate them all in three days. I was sick as a dog afterward and decided never again. They are a holiday-only food now. Add dried dill!

Hey Noreen! Merry Christmas from Texas! So wanted to share....there is a similar recipe going around here called Firecrackers. Not sure if you've heard of them. You mix Saltines, oil, crushed red pepper, garlic powder and a packet of ranch dressing mix and shake it in a ziploc bag. They don't bake. It's so good!!! You let them sit overnight. Anyway, you might like them. They are yummy as well!!!! I've also seen goldfish used too.

I'm not familiar with the cats cradle brand so I'm assuming that the hidden V seasoning will do the trick. I haven't made these yet but I love the suggestion of putting this snack in cone shaped bags... which I bought at the Michael's craft store and plan to hand them out as a new year gift for friends at work. I usually crank out at least 50 slabs of almond roca at Xmas but got way too busy this year not to mention it gets expensive! This is a fun and more reasonable alternative. Thanks Noreen :-)

Katzcradul is my friend on RU-vid who makes a homemade version of ranch dressing mix. I have a video of how to make a big batch of this recipe. That is what I used here. The homemade mix is tastier and has no artificial ingredients. I know what when in it and I like the taste better as both a dressing and a seasoning. You can find the recipe video here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ej2z3-Okgxs.html

I prefer to stir too; ever have a bag break-open while you shake? Me neither, but I don’t want that to happen.

I just had a variation on these, but it was no-bake and the person who made them added chili pepper flakes.

I followed the recipe as described and my oil, ranch dressing, onion, and garlic powder mix was way too thick. I went to the link for the actual recipe and it states 2 tablespoons of ranch seasoning, not 2-1 ounce packets of ranch dressing seasoning.
@noreenskitchenchannel
@noreenskitchenchannel 7 лет назад
1 ounce is 1 tablespoon. I use homemade ranch dressing and I used 2 tablespoons. 1 packet of ranch has approximately 1 tablespoon of mix in it. I measured before I mentioned that in the recipe.

I've been making these for years, only I don't bake them. I use one package of oyster crackers , one package of ranch dressing mix, one tsp garlic powder, one tsp dry dill weed, & one cup oil. Most any oil will work, but I use canola oil. Mix all ingredients, adding oil last. Stir every 10 or 15 min for an hour or so & you start to taste the flavor in them! They really are addictive & the best thing is that get crisp just by stirring the oil in them with NO baking involved! Delicious & so easy!

The original recipe called for Dill weed,
@noreenskitchenchannel
@noreenskitchenchannel 8 месяцев назад
And this is MY recipe. See how that works? We are not huge fans of lots of dill so we left that out.There is plenty of that in the ranch dressing mix already. Especially since I use my homemade ranch dressing mix which has a healthy dose of dill in it we did not feel like it needed the extra and we were inspired by the recipe my mom used to make not using it by the book. You, of course can feel free to add more dill weed if that is something you enjoy. Thanks for the comment

You don't make the oyster crackers, you buy them. I think it's ten oz. Package sizes that they come in. You just put in the cup of oil & they become crisp when you stir them up. Amazing & no baking necessary!
