This is one of the best first impressions videos I’ve seen, for any product, ever. You’re very good at this Bo! I appreciate how you thoroughly think through the usage of every pocket and feature.
Excellent review as usual! I personally prefer the Flight Pack 3 X-Pac, mainly because of the size and the possibility of carrying horizontally, for business purposes. AER is by far my favorite brand for bags; keep bringing reviews for the X-Pac lineup. All the best!
I love the regular city pack but my only complaints were that it didn’t open clam shell and it was too small. This bag seemed to have solved all those issues for a not so big EDC bag.
ONe feature about X-pac that is rarely mentioned is, that it actually has a sandpaper effect on Merino wool. So if the X-pac is in contact with the merino, it will wear/tear it down over time. Just a note, for those who like merino.
Seems like every backpack has a fatal flaw. I was going to buy this pack, but the trolley pass through orients the bag perpendicular to the pack it sits on, which makes zero practical sense. Was a dealbreaker for me. I hope they change this someday.
AER is much better than Peak Design. PD only focuses on photographers, while AER focuses on quality itself, no matter the audience. I had the PD Everyday bag, and the hype on that backpack came from RU-vidrs, who are photographers/video makers. The bag brands I really like nowadays are AER and Osprey (hiking).
Hi! Great video, really helpful! Would you say that the City Pack Pro could also serve for some light traveling? I'm still deciding between this one and the Transit Backpack from Bellroy
Good question. You can't go wrong with either. But if you need slighly more organization I would recommend AER. However, I use a lot of pouches so I would go with the Evergoods because of the fewer compartments.
I don't know why Aer is never on my radar (nor is Bellroy, as their bags are too long). Curious - another short person/torso here - do you find the back edge that hits the lower back softer than the EG CPL24. The EG reinforced bottom/frame sheet doesn't like me. Thanks for your thoughtful points. Hope you review the new EG CTB26 (might fit us. Dimensions not that different from CPL24). Cheers.
Gutes Video und interessante Tasche. Hast du zufällig einen Evergoods CTB26 Phoenix abbekommen und machst da auch ein Video drüber? Würde mich interessieren wie du den einschätzt.
I like the Aer lunar the most in edc size 18-26l range, but this is a close second, both are good size for personal item on airlines. For normal people who don't want to drop $200 on a backpack, I like the moment mtw and the away far 26l. I can't stand bags without luggage sliders, Aer is the company that puts them on everything.
Aer Lunar is an underrated pack, its a really nice in between of EDC/small weekender trip. Only thing I wish is if the front pocket was ambidextrous or the side handle/water bottle pocket switched places (though this is me just being right hand dominant).
Hi man, nice review. I am about to order a backpack from AER in Germany. They state on their website, that they guarantee no additional fees or customs when ordering. Is that true, so I won't have to worry about customs in Germany? KR Max
Hey Bo, great video as always. Been specifically waiting for your review on this new bag. ;) There are a lot of comparisons between this and the Travel Pack 3 Small where it has a lot more features for only $20 more. Would love to know your thoughts on rocking the TP3S as a daily carry compared to this.
Thanks. Yeah the Travel Pack is awesome. However, it is bigger. And for shorter people like I am, this definitely is of importance. 35L looks pretty big on my back. Furthermore, the more capacity the more likely I am to over pack. So 22L for edc is great for my personal usecase
@@Youknowthebo That's understandable and makes sense. I am of the exact same height so this information has been really helpful. :) On other questions - in your own opinion does the CPL24 or City Pack Pro fits better when worn? I am contemplating between the two but am afraid the CPL24 is too "bulky" from it's looks.
@@xylesx chiming in, forgive me. CPL24 is very low profile (but I don't own an Aer). P.S. I'm short too (5'6" w/17" torso). Sleek. Doesn't feel run-of-the-mill. I do have an issue with the rigid back bottom edge punching me. But I'm a girl and my curves might be the reason. Def worth testing out. Cheers.
i luv the AER so much , the brand , the design , material .. but my first city pro was only stand for 10 months and the zipper tape was damage .. i have a ablecarry with me for more then 5 years and it's still pretty new to me ( X pac surface, zipper tape , lining .. only the back cusion is damage ) Everyone when you see life warrenty it doesnt means the company will take care of your things forever .. I juz got a new ablecarry MAX and planing to get a evergoods cpl24 v3 , hope these 2 bag last longer for it's service life time
I went from a peak design every day backpack v2 to this bag. The only thing i miss is the ambidextrous water bottle holders. Im left handed so ive had to adjust grabbing my water bottle. I love the city pack pro except for one thing. The zipper pulls of the main pack can get in the way of accessing the tech organizer section. You have to move them out of the way every time you want to open that pocket. Its annoying enough to be noticeable.
😂 I got a tile and a few Chipolo tags. But they are all Bluetooth. They work great, but don't have this crowd mesh kind of system of the air tag that let's you find your stuff even once you are out of reach of a Bluetooth connection. That's a feature I'd love Google to make a competitive product of
From my experience it holds up well. But there are so many factors to consider. Climate, items you are loading, how it is handled etc. That can affect how many years an item can actually last. So I can't predict how long a bag can last in your case unfortunately
Have you tried Tile as an AirTag alternative for Android? Hard to beat Apple's coverage but now that newer Alexa devices report the location of Tiles, their network is pretty competitive, at least where I live (Seattle).
I tried one device a few years ago. But the battery died real quick and it was a version that wasn't able to replace the battery. So I went with Chipolo. I am happy with Chipolo but the coverage is quite small compared to airtags
Thanks! It really depends. I think you already have a very good backpack. If it was between the Travel pack 3 (with 35L) and this one (22L), I would say get the City Pack Pro if you are about my height (170cm tall). Because the 22L is much better looking on my small back and not as big for edc. But with the small version of the Travel Pack with 28L there is just a small difference. So I would recommend to look for a different 22L Backpack just to expand your collection opposed to getting almost the same bag
True, but I already got chipolo trackers. And the Samsung ones don't offer much more that would justify the complete switch to that new system. I am hoping for a Google version that rivals or matches the features of apple airbags (ie. Also being able to be tracked outside of the Bluetooth range)
Nice Bag I like that little Air Tag pocket I use them myself, got one in my Camera backpack, one in my Work backpack (Dakine Campus 25L) on my Key ring and one hidden away on my Bicycle. So its nice to see a place for them so they are not getting banged around other items in a pocket of the backpack.
Unfortunately, afik there is Noone in EU selling AER. you always can check Keus store in Paris or Mukama in Germany. They both have a lot of bags and gear in their online store that you usually can't get that easily in EU. But aer is only available directly from aer afik
Said this on another video but wow great improvement from Aer here. So glad they moved to clamshell. I still prefer the overall aesthetic of Goruck especially when it comes to zipper noise. But, if this had come out a few years ago when I was comparing the brands I might have gone with this.
Thanks for the comment. Interesting comparison and train of thought. I love Goruck. But with it's pricing (especiall once you add shipping and custom fees) and the look that doesn't fit all office environments (at least in Germany), I can see that AER would be the better recommendation for some.
Unfortunately, I don't know where to get AER within EU. Keus in Paris or Mukama are usually have a lot of bags that you need to order internationally. But they don't stock aer at the moment. So you might need to order directly from aer
@Bo Ismono I wanted to ask your opinion on the new Aer City Pack Pro. I am buying this bag in the next few days. My question to you is… If you were purchasing this bag, would you purchase the Xpac or 1680D Codura material? I am liking the orange interior along with the aqua guard zips. However I live in south central Texas and we get very little rainfall. Perhaps Xpac is overkill? Just wanted your expert opinion on these materials and which do you think is best. Thank you again for your time and amazing videos.
That's a good question. Personally I would go with the xpac just because of the orange inner lining. The silver inner lining is good to find small items, but the orange just gives you a high contrast and looks just unique Imho. That being said, both materials are great. And you can't go wrong with either. It's more or less a matter of taste. And I am all for saving money in this current economy. So my decision would be based on my budget. I hope this helps
Compared to other brands. Obviously if you compare it to mainstream bags it is more expensive. But if you take the materials and build quality into consideration it's still quite justified imho
