The last time I could ride a bicycle was when I was 7 years old. I am now 64 years old and just received my Easy Rider 3. At 7 years old, I got severe Rheumatoid Arthritis and spent my childhood years and teenage years confined to a wheelchair. At 31, I had multiple joint replacements in my legs and was able to just walk again. I have always dreamed of that wonderful feeling of riding a bicycle when I was 7. It wasn't until 2019 that I had my knee joints revised with new types that I now had a reasonable range of movement that I felt I could manage peddles on a bike. However, I could never think of mounting a traditional high seated bike or trike. Then, I noticed the Easy Rider design on the internet. I live in Australia, far away from any VanRaam dealer. I was so confident that this design would suit me, and so I ordered one. It arrived last week after many many months of around the world shipping. I knew I needed short cranks, even shorter than the crank shorteners could provide. It's only 75mm long. Very short. Will that be manageable? Well, I had a pair of cranks shortened for me weeks before the Easy Rider arrived. When it arrived, I swapped the supplied cranks for my modified ones. I couldn't wait to see if I would be able to manage. I got on the Easy Rider and adjusted the seat position. And wow! The initial try was very exciting. I was amazed! I got up to 20km/h with not too much difficulty at setting 3. I have now used it for a week now. I managed to ride into town about 4 km away a few times. Being a small town, most people know me. They have to look twice to actually believe it is me, speeding along. I hope to one day send to VanRaam some photos, a video, and my story about how it has taken me 57 years to experience that wonderful freedom feeling of cycling. A no-balance, E-assist trike is a God Send! Two wheels at rear are easiest, by far, to get on and off! Literally feel like you are 12, when you are 70 years old! The FUN riding again is literally over-the-top! Never outgrow a delta planform trike. Grow oldest on a delta planform trike!
