That’s a great way for them in between cleanings. I’m from Iowa and I do some washing and detailing on RV’s in the off season at a park N of Tampa. I really recommend having a good full detail done at least once a year. My washes include the roof awnings and sides. I have seen many clean the roofs with high pressure which is a BIG NONO! Everything should be washed with very low pressure and some elbow grease. Most of my customers are elderly people and they never go on their roof. So when I wash their RV I always do a roof inspection for them for free. I check for any damage or any potential problems that may arise, such as how the dicor around vents, pipes, and skylights look. I’ll take photos to show the customer what’s going on. I’m probably one of the very few that does this but the most important part of the RV is the roof. I also recommend having your roof rubber membrane roof conditioned after it has been cleaned. So I know how you said it’s a little expensive having the detail crew come out and clean it but it may save you $ in the long run by having someone on the roof cleaning and checking for potential problems in the future. Like your channel by the way!
On the truck washes... Pride in Frankfort is horrible, but one in Shepherdsville is ok, one in Hobart IN is great! After 400k miles best wash I’ve ever found is Danny’s in Phoenix. 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 Amazing services, staff are friendly, and they offer full detail under a covered 3 bay area. On the “acid”, you need to say “NO BRIGHTENER”. That what they call it because it “brightens” the aluminum on the semis. Lastly, when using these you need to ask if their location recycles their water. If so you need to make sure you get the fresh rinse and towel dry the truck. Do it yourself... best products I’ve ever found is Adam’s wash, wax, and detail sprays. Be careful using waterless washers. If you have too much dust on the rig you will wipe it into the clear coat. You do NOT want to have to clay bar a RV! 😣 Lastly, I will use Castrol’s GT super lean on my rims and tires. It’s just harsh enough to get rid of the brake dust, but not harsh enough to harm paint or aluminum. Love your guys channel. You and KYD are primarily who I watch. Love that your so open about trying to help others or those trying to learn 👍🏻
Oh yea.. whenever we have lots of dust on the rig, we find a wet wash option. We had LOTS of dust and dirt from that sand in the video... Thanks for watching, Brian! 😊
@@secretsquirrel572 never mind. It was def not a freaking hr. And it took 6 hours. No roof and I charged 350$. I did have to polish out a wheel which took Forever since my degreaser dried. Man that’s a TON of work
Another great informative content! Yeah, the kit is a little pricey but it’s a value to be able to wash your rig anywhere & know it’s done right! Thanks again for all you do making your videos, very helpful!
I am sure you have but check out no Rinse products I’m using this stuff to do my motorhome and vehicles , it’s incredible everywhere I go somebody says how do you get that shine. RV fun with Thomyt!
Thank you for this content. This is an important process we all need to do our best at. I have struggled with our new trailer. Backing into car washes that are tall you name it. Your experiences and advise is very helpful. My pickup camper sold after 24 years well because I took care of it. Our new trailer will get the same care but is sometimes harder to care for. Thanks for the tips. Take care.
Thank you for another informative video with both...things that worked well and not so much. I’m thinking that wonderfully substantial extension pole could be dual purposed and used to raise your antenna in place of your 10’ PVC, which I am sure has been cut down by now. Safe travels and keep the memories magical.
I've used the Blue Beacon truck washes. Typically stopping at the last one near my destination. They're great and surprisingly affordable. As for the Wash Wax All, we use that at work for keeping our helicopters looking good. Among other things, it allows us to wash them in the heated hangar, instead of a wet wash outside in the cold. And you can just do the sections that need it.
Thank you for the review! We like Blue Beacon -- used the one in Eloy, AZ. Pretty reasonable in our opinion, but can't beat your own hand detailing. We were using the RV Wash/Wax, along with the Protect-All Rubber Roof Treatment. Pretty labor intensive as it took a few days to complete the job on our 30' GD 5ver. The rubber roof treatment was a challenge due to my acrophobic issues and hubby (although a Fireman) had some issues on the roof. We will certainly try that Wash Wax All.
I second the wash and wax kit. But I do think that the quick extend retract function of the pole can’t be overstated. I looked all over for a pole that worked as well and couldn’t find one. It gets tiresome loosing and tightening a collar on most extendable poles. We have had our kit for over a year and it still works great. High quality set up! Great video
I noticed a Blue Beacon in Shreveport on our way back from a trip to Texas. Wanted to stop but wasn't sure if they take care of RVs. I'll give them a try based on your advice. Also, I like the Dry wash idea for in-between cleaning. As always thanks for the tips especially using dryer sheets to get the bugs off. Bugs seem to love the hot humid weather in Louisiana. Lol
Ron Oboogie and all: we have a 35’ Bounder 13 years old and we pay for an Annua hand wax ($350) then we BBeacon with our TOAD getting no acid; no brushes EXCEPT REEFER VENTS->> NO SPRAY, BRUSH VENTS ONLY then rinse from above!!!! BBeacon with Rain X $50 to $66, depending on location - we ❤️ Blue Beacon Washes! They recycle their water also. GREAT VIDEO, guys!
For the dryer sheet use, use them after you have used them in the dryer. Gunk is gone. Sprayway Glass Cleaner and a microfiber cloth works really well as a "dry" wash.
Love Blue Beacons when we are traveling. If I have to wash on the road, and the park allows it, I only use water. I'll wash with soap 2x year at my sons house.
Always lamb wool pad should be used. Invest in a simple chuck water deionizer, small electric pressure washer and foam gun and you could get that rig clean in under 2 hours. We get our 37 foot class A done in under 90 min.
Thanks for the review and all the details on how to keep your rig clean. Would not have thought to try the dryer sheet or hand sanitizer. Great info so us newbies know what we are getting ourselves in to. Will have to pick up one of those Waterless Wash /Wax kits when we hit the road (very soon). Have an awesome week!
Over the road drivers use acid was to clean the fuel tanks and rims. It is very aggressive. I am an owner operater of a 98 peterbuilt. You can not pay me enough to use the acid was on any part of my truck. It strips it all clean
Beacons citrus cleaner is safe and well worth the expense. Another option some beacons off is undercarriage wash. Nice for the pickup especially during the winter. Another good national chain is truckomat. $400 for a detail is a bargain btw. I'm like you twice a year would be plenty
I kept waiting on the acid joke and then when she was trying to get you to say “extend” all I could think of was the game show $10,000 pyramid 😂🤣😂 We love you guys ! We learn so much from watching you. Keep it real and keep it honest ! Catcha down the road !!
When you go to the Blue Beacon you need to say "NBA"!!! Stands for No Brightener At All. The brightener us the acid they use to cut the bugs and road scum from your vehicle. The brightener looks decent in the short term. BUT, in a few months the rubber seals around windows and doors will start to hard and crack. Your plastic light lenses and reflectors will tarnish. After 30 years if trucking I wouldn't even drive into a Blue Beacon. You can tell them NBA and there will always be some snot nosed kid on the side you're not watching shoot the brightener on when you're not watching so his job is easier. It's your vehicle/RV and you might be someone that trades every other year but you are being fooled at the Blue Beacon.
**Item currently unavailable: Aero Cosmetics Waterless RV per the link above, fyi~ I'm looking to buy, but I'll wait for the link to update? Please advise. LOVE your channel :)
Do take into account that all rv or vehicle cleaning products should be prewashed (by hand) from removing that harsh chemicals out of your rags or micro mop heads etc.. why?? The chemicals damage the washing machine, irrespective if it says *washing machine safe* do yourself that favor especially if you pinching penny's and Don't wanna damage your expensive appliances internally. "ONCE BITTEN TWICE SHY"
Love the info in this video. It was funny hearing about the live bugs. When I was owner operator, Louisiana completely drained the swamp that you go across on I12 in 2003 I believe. You literally had to stop on either end of the bridge and clean your grill and windshield as the truck started running hot. My red truck turned black with love bugs. Safe travels and keep the vids coming.
This was a great topic video. We constantly struggle with keeping the rig clean and bug free. I'm going to definitely try the dryer sheets on our trailer
FYI, I just finished a comment, but when I went to add an 'emoji', it rerouted me to another 'membership' page which then ''LOST'' the entire text of the comments. [not happy, would have put Sad emoji, but did not want to lose a message again.] [sad] This has never happened to me before [emoji] anywhere else and it was NOT pleasant. Anyhow, it was about your ''out-takes'', but not just about this bull. I LOVED the video, NOT at all happy about the other B.S.
An acid wash works great, but I would only use it on the front of the truck, and the nose front of the trailer. The secret is to not just spray it on and wash it off after using a brush. I do smaller sections, scrub, and rinse. Leave it on for 15 minutes and your paint will look oxidized. We used it in the Bakken and the Class 8's would come in covered in oil from all of the big engines running while fracturing. The stuff we used came from a chemical manufacturer in Utah, and the oil would come right off.
"Normal microfiber" means low quality. Spend the money on edgeless, high quality Microfiber towels from Griots Garage (personal fav) Chemical Guys, etc. An auto parts store isn't the place unless they carry those brands.
Blue Beacon is okay but there is a reason that they are called Streakin Beacon among owner operators look for private owned truck washes they normally do a lot better job . BUT NEVER have your paint BRUSHED you don’t know what that brush was used on, rims running boards etc only NO PAINT
$400 for a 1 step polish is insanely cheap. Most car detailers will charge for a small car. I charge $600 for a 1 step polish. As far as some maintenance tips. Get your RV cleaned with a quality touchless wash at least once a month or every 1000 Miles. You should only need the polish after somebody messes up your paint. Keep getting the rainx system applied. This protects the paint from sun/UV and also keeps the surface slick so that the nasty stuff like tar and heavy dirt don’t bond to your paint. Best of luck!
I have been weeing others that use the Wash Wax All product. I know your 5th Wheel is probably full body paint, do you know if it is compatible with Vinyl accent stickers?
Yes, Alcohol for tree sap absolutely works fantastic. We use Hydrogen Peroxide ti remove love bugs. It works best if you get them off within a few hours.
Great video! We have been full time for 6 months and had no idea how many rv parks do not allow washing. I’ve thought about washing the rig the day I leave but I like your solution better.
use a trailer brite, yes tailer BRITE truck wash on the roof. the truss line will be removed.. just a simple foam cannon 5 parts water in the bottle 1 part car was shampoo to 3 parts trailer brite. you will be amazed.. great video though guys!
Careful with streaking beacon. I have been a truck driver for 30 years and used them many times but they do recycle water. When doing this it doesn't get all the aluminum brighter out and leaves streaks.
"So you've got evidence, is that what you're telling me?" HAHAHAAH... Gotta watch those women. Oh, hell--- no matter; we men are always wrong anyway. LOL! Another great video, you two. Thanks for this; I got some good info out of it. Safe travels!
ya, just do it , lol....i use a product called CU4 , fastwax.com , on my drag race car , goldwing , and pickup , and only on the front of motorhome and windshield , they have kits to do interior and tires too , the wax cleaner will take road tar off , and really good on bugs , but i will try your brand , normally i use a half full 5 gal pail of water and meguires wash and wax , and soap RV down a bit at a time , then squeegee it off with a silicone squeegee , my is not black , that is a problem for showing swirl marks , my brown toned rig is very forgiving , my race car and pickup are black and very dark , there is usually at least a gallon of water left over . Blue beacon has done my rig several times and i am impressed with them for the price .
checking out your video I just purchased a small class C I too am an Indian owner if you ever wanna check out very cool Indians check out Hollister indian great dealership in Hollister California
Thanks for a thorough and helpful video. I have been curious about trying Blue Beacon for when the rig gets really filthy from travel in bad weather etc. I also love the wash system you showed from Aero Cosmetics, I am in love with the tools which will obviously make cleaning a large 5th wheel a whole lot easier and have been looking for a system of tools exactly like it. I plan to purchase the tools, ie the extendable pole, mop head and their microfiber mops for the head, but stick with my usual go to rinseless & waterless wash products (Optimum & Griots Garage). Reason being is first they have served me well, but more important because they come in a concentrate where you mix approximately 1 oz of product to 2 gallons of water making the concentrate about 5 times less expensive. The concentrate can also be mixed to different ratios, to create a rinseless wash, a water less wash and a clay lubricant from one product, so not having to buy 3-different products. Also you might check out the Rag Company for excellent microfiber towels of all kinds at the best prices I have seen.
I have huge desire to edit and smash many home movies and especially clips and pictures of my daughter at Disneyland taking out other people and making it all about her. Then I see the out takes and know that’s such a small part of it. Mi know I just need to start somewhere and just get better and not mess with original because my abilities will only get better. Then to interview the elderly for their posterity
Our visit to a Blue Beacon included the option of having our class A dried. One price for the windows only ($20 I think) and ($40 ??) for the whole coach (not the roof). Opting for the windows we watched the two workers go above and beyond by also drying the wheels and spraying dressing on the tires. They got a big tip from us !! I will be looking for the Wash-Wax All. Thanks for all the good info!
Joe T. I was wondering how well those work. Is it the floor mop or window cleaning system or is it the same product? Do you recommend them? For this use.
When we go to Florida in January we always get the rv detailed, which is wash and hand waxed. The detailed told us that if we have it done by hand once a year then just wash wax every couple of months that would take care of the finish
Hey guys, great video, but as you are bikers as well I am sooooooo surprised that you don't know about hydrogen peroxide for bugs. Bike windows and front cap of your Momentum (which I also own). Just the stuff you get at Walgreens or Walmart. Spray the peroxide on the bugs and watch it literally eat them. Then just wash them off. On my bike window I just wipe them off clean with a cloth that doesn't scratch and the window usually comes clean first time. On the front cap, do small sections, preferably not in direct sunlight. Give it a try, you will be amazed. All my biker friends carry a small bottle of the stuff when we ride. Oh, and it is super cheap.
The acid is used on rims and tanks on the semi truck to clean them b4 polishing, there not shiny or polish aluminum so they half to be polished on a regular basis. Not always use of the acid. But when they get to cruddy especially after winter. Lol drivers call the bluebeacon the streaking beacon. Jus a little inside humor there lmbo
This was a great video! We are new and just got back from a 1600 mile trip. Front cap was full of bugs. It was hard to scrub them off. I will have to try the dryer sheets next time. Thanks!
Thank you for sharing. Always enjoy your videos and I can tell y’all put a lot of time and effort into each one. We hope to meet y’all one day and would love to take a day ride (on scooters of course) with y’all one day.
I have been wondering about that very kit for awhile now. Thanks for the info on it. When we decide to get it I will purchase thru your link. Safe travels and hope to see you on the road!
Older post, but I’m curious if you still use this method Chad? Also is this your primary method to wash your camper? I’m toying with the idea of getting a compact pressure washer and a DI system to rinse, but this seems far quicker and cheaper.
Now that was a great video. Normally like you two days for a wash and if waxing is needed the time goes up by two. I've seen the waterless produce on Amazon but never pulled the trigger. Thank you for sharing.
I've been using the Wash Wax All for the last year, it work great and makes the quick clean when we get home from trips super easy. I think it's getting easier to clean the bugs off the more I use it on the front cap.
