Glad to have you back mate, I know loads of people atm who are ill, deffo something going round. I’m full of a cold & cough, Are you going haydock truck show at weekend? Got my ticket think weather looks best on Sunday :)
Hi Darren, you able to do / show some more on your routines of how you check vehicle height/ weight bridges in the yard. An area that during training you don’t get shown
Hope you feeling alright now mate, you and your family. Specially the little man. Been on the road for a couple days now, new job, HGV driver (Finally!!) and my job is almost the same as yours, difference is, I work with a fridge trailer. But do north and south Portugal and the hours depends on the clients really. But loving it so far!
@Life_of_Darren Thanks, mate! Yeah, for now, I'm really enjoying it 😄 The fridge trailer, obviously in the load and unload part, is better because you only go to companies that have a loading bay, so no weird places or anything, wich is a plus. The only thing that's really really important is the temperature. You HAVE TO pay close attention to the temperature, because if you don't all the food gets spoiled and is a HUGE problem...for you, but again, is a thing that's easily done because every time you stop, for a coffee or gas or something, while doing the pre-trip inspection you check the temperature. Is not hard. It looks hard, but once you get the hang of it, it's really easy.
I hope you feel.more better soon buddy. I heard on the radio that covid is doing the rounds again and one of my partners colleagues has just tested positive for it so it could be anywhere mate.
Fingers crossed it skips you bud, I’m back to pretty much full health now …. Well except for the hay-fever which seems to be strong right now Have a good night mate
Surely you can get sick pay as you pay national insurance, or have things changed so much since I was a driver. I am by the way 74 years old and love your videos.Polite safe and caring.
@@ernestbailey9194 thanks for watching and glad your enjoying the content Ernest, for sick pay it’s only after 4 days off and think it’s classed as statutory pay
Great content mate.Couple of questions about how to become a HGV driver. How much does it cost to qualify , how much driving experience is needed , whats the average yearly take home salary for newly qualified drivers ? Thanks very much for your time & hard work.
@@misternev3875 it costs roughly 1.5-2k for your test and you can go straight from car now too, so that saves a bit of money, in regards to pay it can vary depending on how many hours you work and location etc - average is 30-50k
