Easy Soft and Fluffy Rice Flour Huat Kueh (No Yeast, No ENO)

Learn how to make a simplified version of the traditional Chinese rice flour huat kueh without using any eggs and yeast and the huat kueh are soft and fluffy. I'm sharing how to make original flavor huat kueh and gula Melaka huat kueh.

INGREDIENTS:
For original pink color version:
130 gr rice flour
1 tsp baking powder
⅛ tsp salt
75 gr granulated sugar
210 ml unsweetened soy milk or cow's milk or other non-dairy milk works too
1 tsp cooking oil
½ tsp vanilla extract optional
Red food coloring
For gula Jawa/Melaka version:
130 gr rice flour
1 tsp baking powder
⅛ tsp salt
80 gr gula Jawa/ gula Melaka you can use dark brown sugar or coconut sugar too
210 ml unsweetened soy milk or cow's milk or other non-dairy milk works too
1 tsp cooking oil

Wow, I shall try this recipe today, the consistency is runny and pourable indeed and it also bloomed😍. Mostly uploaded video shows that It seems so easy to make, how come I cannot achieve it 😔 Please teach again how to make blooming ji dan gao on a big and small aluminum mold, I've been reading your blog on how to do it correctly but I still couldn't achieve it. Please help. I am a fan from the Philippines since the Covid 19 lockdown 💕

Hi, I would recommend checking to make sure your baking powder is still fresh and also you want to steam over high heat.

I tried this but it didn't smile like yours. It's only open little and it is not fluffy, it is dense and like 'kueh', please tell me where could goes wrong.

Idli is fermented i think this batter fermenter. So maybe its not idli
