These classic Spanish churros are so easy to make. They’re crispy on the outside, soft and tender on the inside and of course, super delicious! Coat these homemade churros with sugar and cinnamon mixture and serve them with chocolate dipping sauce and you have the perfect dessert! This version of churros is egg free and dairy free and the dough contain only 4 ingredients!

Makes 18-20 churros
Ingredients:
For the churros:
1 cup (125g) Flour
1 cup (240ml) Water
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1 tablespoon Olive oil/vegetable oil
For the chocolate sauce:
100g (3.5oz) Dark chocolate
1/2 cup (120ml) Heavy cream
For coating the churros:
1/4 cup (50g) Sugar
1 teaspoon Cinnamon
Oil for frying
Directions:
1. Prepare churros dough: pour the water into a medium sized saucepan, add 1 tablespoon of oil, salt and bring to a boil.
2. Once the water boils, remove from heat, add flour and stir until smooth dough forms. If needed transfer the dough to a lightly oiled surface and knead until smooth.
3. Transfer the dough into a churrera or double piping bag fitted with a star tip. Set aside while oil heats.
4. Prepare the coating: in a shallow bowl, combine sugar and cinnamon. Set aside.
5. Prepare chocolate sauce for churros: chop dark chocolate, transfer to a large bowl. In a small sauce pan heat heavy cream, pour over the chocolate. Let sit for 1-2 minutes. Stir until smooth and thick. Transfer to a mug or small bowl.
6. Fry the churros: Heat oil for frying in a Dutch-oven or deep skillet to 350F (180C). Pipe strips of dough into hot oil using a pastry bag. Fry in batches (4-5 churros at the time) until golden; drain on paper towels.
7. Roll the churros in the sugar-cinnamon mixture and serve immediately.
Notes:
• Make sure you are using two 2 Piping bags (1 in each other), or a piping bag that is made of not made of thin plastic, otherwise it can tear.

tried this today and the churro blew up in my face... almost went blind... now my eyes hurt and i have burns... it was probably my fault but please everyone be safe

I tried it just now. They blew up once I took them out. My kitchen Is a mess and I have small burns on my legs. I think I did something wrong too.

ⵏⴰⴷⴰ- ⴻⵔⵔⴰⴱⵉⵄ ⵄⵉⵙⴰⵡⵉ nooo! it’s not about the oil, the churros itself blew up after i took them out of the oil first, and then when it was in the oil frying it blew up again multiple times! it was a horrible experience

lilacsinhell yes it wasn’t because of the oil. The oil was fine. But I researched into it and saw that it was super important to have the star tip to put them into the oil because of the air inside them not being able to escape and the edges te star tip created let’s it cook better and let’s the air get out. I didn’t do that at first. Once I put the star tip the next round, they were fine. Doesn’t erase the fact that I have a small burn on my leg. I hope your eye is okay!!!

i was searching for a recipe without egg for my 8 year old daughter and i found this recipe,followed all the steps ,while I was frying,they looked really nice but they were pale and I decided to let them fry for another minute to let them brown ,they started exploding in the hot oil one by one,and I got burned in the face,and both arms.Never trying churros again😢

You should redusere the heat before you take of the boiling water, then you can put in the flour

Actually our Churros only have flour, salt and olive oil to fry. Then sprinkled sugar. That’s all.

@@chevychrysler9302 Oil 180• and there shouldn’t be air into the dough. So it should be properly kneaded. But sometimes it happens. Using the tradicional Spanish churros maker, dough is pressed and when you put churros directly into the oil it comes without air. Oil should be fresh. It’s much better

@@chevychrysler9302 very hot oil, take them out quickly as they turn brown. Like fries. They will be crunchy. Don’t let them stay in the pan too long. They become oil boiled, bland and soggy.

Does anyone know of a gluten and nut free flour replacement that doesn't affect the batter too much? My nephew is allergic to nuts, gluten, eggs, and dairy. He cannot have coconut flour; though a coconut allergy is really rare, he is highly allergic to nuts (yes. He has an epipen for all over his allergies. He is only 1.5 years old.) So his pediatrician does not want to risk it. His mother bought treats that where claimed to have been free of all of his allergens but he ended up in the hospital with an allergic reaction. I have made allergen free versions of her favorite treats that she feeds to him, and I would like to make churros next. Eggless recipes call for flour, gluten free recipes tend call for almond or coconut flour. Tapioca flour doesn't seem to allow the batter to thicken properly. For churros (with or without egg replacement. I have tried multiple recipes at this point.) I am at a loss. Any suggestions?

Try seed flours like hemp or chia seeds . Or how about rice flour or oat flour or potato flour. Try a small batch to see which works. Hope it nephew stays healthy n well and still enjoy treats.x
