About this video:
This is one of those jigs that is much more valuable than the couple of hours it takes to build it. It has a miter bar for consistency and repeatability. The fence adjusts to many different angles or to simply joint the edge of a rough piece of lumber.

Very nicely done!! I was impressed that you explained the entry cut difference between a square stock compared to a rectangular stock. That's a detail that would leave most people scratching their head. Great video and generous offer for the plan.....I'm looking forward to putting this together.

Great video, and thank you for sending a link to the video and the plans directly to my mailbox 👍 These videos are so well-edited, and the choice of projects and the way everything is explained, are just absolutely perfect for beginners and hobby woodworkers. Showing (and teaching) us basic techniques that are a piece of cake for experienced woodworkers, but a nightmare when you're going to try it out when alone in your workshop, that is not something many experienced woodworkers do well even in their videos for beginners. I'm using the ones from Rockler in the video and they're pretty good. I think I probably like the Snappy countersink set a little better...you can get those from Woodcraft.

Nice! Your plans mention using 5/16 t-bolts, but the plans state to cut a 1/4 inch slot for the fence while the sled is calling for 5/16 slots.

Good catch...I'll make that change. The slot in the fence should be 5/16" wide.

2:50 My immediate thought was that you could reorient the bolts 90 degrees so that the long-flat part of the head will be kept in place by the sides of the groove. This would prevent the bolt from spinning inside the groove and possibly make it slide easier. Just a first thought, IDK if it would make it less secure when tightening the clamps.

That is a great thought and I honestly wish it would work that way, but there is hardly any surface area on the sides of the bolt head. All the holding area is on the ends, so turning it perpendicular allows for good holding strength. If the sides had more area, I would definitely do it the way you're saying.

Nice video! Did you buy the hardware in a jig kit or did you buy it all individually? I do not have a jointer and need to be able to join longer pieces so I am looking for a solution. This kind of thing looks doable but it seems like once it gets over 3' it could be hard to handle.

Yes, absolutely! The slots can be cut by drilling a hole at each end and then using a jigsaw to cut out the middle part.

I've watched a ton of vids on jointer/tapering jigs recently and this is definitely one of the better ones , well explained, clear and concise 👊I have a question: I need to build a jig for jointing edges and was wondering on the overall size/length of the jig with regards to the maximum length of the wood you will be jointing so in my case will be 4ft/1.2m boards so should the the jig be 4ft/1.2m in length? ps thanks for sharing man 🙏

Thanks, Baz. It needs to be long enough to support the workpiece. So, it should be able to slide into the miter slots while the piece is running through the saw. I'm not sure exactly what size it should be, but you could easily test 2 ft and then go up from there, if need be. That's a bit of a hard explanation but I hope that helps.

What size table saw Deck will this work on the best? I have the Metabo HPT 10 inch 36v Table saw with 35 rip on one side and 23 rip on the other side..

I think it works best to cut the base to the width of your table (front to back). Most portable, job site saws are 22", contractor and some cabinet saws are 27", and then some cabinet saws are around 30".
