Easy Trick for Perfect Flush Cut Dowels 

Good tip! I'll have to remember this one, I always mark up my work piece when cutting dowels flush, no matter how careful I am!

Thanks for the video. I've run into a problem where I decided to hammer in a dowel into a piece of wood with a polyurethane finish surface already applied. I managed to hack off the bulk of the rod end with a hacksaw, but I'm still left with a little amount of the rod end sticking out, and I'm reluctant to go any further without damaging my surrounding finished surface. Do you think it will work if I place some painter's table around the dowel end and attempt to chisel off the rest of the dowel to make the end flushed? Or use your sandpaper trick? Hopefully I won't damage the surrounding finished surface too much? Or is there a better method?
