Thank you. Basic, simple, and exactly what I was looking for. Every other instruction I have seen want me to tension without rope, then add rope under tension. My rope was .... very difficult to get through the hole, so I did not want to have to do that again. This method is so simple - I love it. Thank you again.

You learn something new everyday! thanks for the video and great explanation. Sometimes when I don't feel like taking off the pull starter ( I hate when the gas tank is attached), I'll pull the cord out slightly and pour a little lube through the hole where the string comes out. Give it a couple light pulls to spread the lube. Works great if the spring does not need to be adjusted.

Hah, this one came in handy. Just watched it yesterday and today I cleaned up the carb on a Little Wonder Pro edger that has a Honda GX-120 on it. As soon as I put gas in the tank and pulled the starter rope the first time, it was left dangling on the floor. Was so glad I watched this. Just took it off, sprayed it with some silicone, pulled it a few times to loosen up the spring and it was fixed. So, I donated a little something for your trouble. Enjoy whatever few beers it will get ya.

One of the BEST tips ever, Steve. Having watched countless numbers of your Chainsaw and other Small engine repair vids, I will say that you are one of the best presenters I have run across for this type of thing. My first instructional I ever watched was another fella on how to service a lawn mower carb, from there I've learned small engines, electronics and amp repairs, HVAC, automotive, and of course lawn and landscape equipment. Thank you for all your efforts.

@@StevesSmallEngineSaloon Hi again Steve. Thanks again for the reply. At 58 years old and only an occasional user of some of my tools like chainsaws, I had to learn the hard way on some things such as how to maintain, prevent damage such as the bad gas issue on carb and fuel parts, etc, but with age also came resources like this. Yes it has been invaluable learning how to diagnose and fix and to test many integral parts on saws, string trimmers etc. Good fuel, clean lines, filters and plugs, plus air tight seals are really the crux of a good running small engine. Thank again for all your tutorials. I could watch you and a few other folks and feel like no non running saw/weedwacker/mower, generator, tamper etc were beyond my ability to make new again.

Hi Steve. Another brilliant clip. I have to state though (and quite cheekily), that if everyone followed all your advice on maintenance, tuning etc., they would never need to pull the cord to its limit, before ignition! Thanks mate.

Superb explanation, thanks Steve. I had to fix a broken pull chord on a new brush cutter and when I took it apart to get the chord back in the spring went wild like a slinky on spring break. Once it was back together the starter was suffering from a case of limp rope! 3 attempts to put it back together and I couldnt get it to go back in. One watch of the video and the magic happened! All sorted, and a spring in tthe step 👍

Steve, you the man! I shot my starter full of Slick 50 lubricant and added an extra loop like you describe at 02:55 and I'm back in business! This is on an old Craftsman edger that the shop told me could not be fixed because Tecumseh has been out of business over 10 years and they can't get parts. I'm glad I found your video and next time I have something like this I'll look for you first.
