There were three problems with this radio, all of which required parts to be shipped to Madeira. The audio selector chip, the MC14066B, was acting erratically, and I ordered CD4066 replacements, hoping that this chip was a direct replacement. The speaker foam needed to be replaced, and again, ordered. However, the most scary task was the pre-selector drive belt that needed to be replaced.
All references to this latter job prepared me for a nightmare. I was warned that lots of swearing would be required, and that the task would burn up many, many hours. I was suitably scared.
However, the result was incredible. I found a forum post that described a really simple way to do this, and actually doubted that it would work. Surprisingly, it went off like a charm, and I'm happy to show you how it's done.
I hope that these experiences help anyone who runs across the same problem. That's the objective of these videos, anyway.
