This video is showing how easy it is at times to troubleshoot and repair a UPS. Although the UPS that was repaired in this video was a FORZA brand, this repair technique can be applied to other UPS brands.
This will also works with other APC UPS.

This was an extremely helpful video. I have a Sweex 650 VA, which is identical inside to your Forza. I was about to by a new UPS @ cost £70, but luckily found a replacement Lead acid battery from Duracell online for just £20.My UPS now performing perfectlyMany Thanks!

An excellent video. The case is identical to the Ion F11 850 / 600 ups, I presume that the inside is the same. Judging from the top heat. The inverter is actually always running and a relay drops the OP to inverter on no mains. Battery is needed for inverter and mains relay to run. Added you to my fixit section. Subs are on a swap basis. Take care, stay safe.

You connected the UPS to main AC power at 6:34. When you plugged in the light at 7:20, your UPS is operating off of main power (not off of the battery). Thus, you are not verifying that the new battery can energize the UPS and power the light. To actually see if the UPS can operate off the battery, you should have unplugged the UPS from main power to see if the light stays on.

Great observation, the thing with some UPS is that they will not power on unless a good battery is installed. The fact that it came on showed that nothing was wrong with the inverter circuit. Your are right I should have unplugged it. Thanks for your feedback.

Hey! I have an issue with mine...new battery. Rated at 1000va so 600w. With 250w charge it will shut down with no warning. Any idea?

Hi, my UPS is Zigor Debra Pro 1250 VA. Used it for over 2 years. Recently, whenever there is a fluctuation of voltage in my home, the UPS immediately goes to back up mode. But, before when it was working properly, it would continue working thanks to its in-built stabilizer. Is there way to fix the stabilizer function of the UPS?

Thank you Bro, I also had same problem, I was thinking that i had to troubleshoot the board. But after watching your video, I also tried the UPS with another good battery, then it was working fine. So, most of the cases, the culprit is Battery. Now I have to replace the old battery with a good one, then the ups will be working fine. You have reduced my work alot by giving the idea of testing with good battery. Nice idea. Thank you again!!

I have a problem with my ups...it's a SVC ups in line 1500VA. When I'm turning it on, it continue to blink on the backup mode and when I press the power button, it blinks on the normal and overload mode and and continue to blink on the backup😐 .And sometimes it blinks once on the normal mode when I press the power button and then agains continue to blink on the backup mode..and I don't know what happened to it...it a ok a few days back!

The battery might need to be replaced because usually the ups would give at least 5 minutes before loosing power.

When I turn on my UPS, I read 7.5V at the wires connected to the battieries. But the measure decreases very slowly, and after 5-6 minutes I have 0.4V. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks!

I ve a similar problem with my ups. the battery is OK and the ups works fine with mains only that it won't work when u unplug it from the mains. it will beep for 5 sec and off. I noticed that two regulators( power transistors) are broken I.e opened. I replaced them but as soon as I put on the inverter the two transistors which I replaced exploded and burst open. what could I do

This sounds like you have a faulty PWM circuit. You need to check if other components like resister, capacitor and IC are damage and replace them.

It really depends on the amperage that will be drawn from the battery. Use a wire gauge chart to assist you.

This is a common fault with these UPS, that why. If the battery replacement failed then other things would be looked at.

hm, i changed battery, acid was leaking, so after changing it i took another old one from garage 2yrs old and it was depleted to 1V i putted it in there and it charged to 12v but it when i try to use it it says battery empty and shuts down i was charging it for 10 hours now. it charges the battery with 13.1V

Battery that are left discharged for extended time cells my become permanently damage. Try a new or a good used battery instead.

Check the voltage of the wires connected to the battery. If there is very low or no voltage then the issue may be with the charging circuit. If there is at least 10 volts going to the battery then the battery might have an issue.

My 1200 VA UPS got damaged due to unstable current yesterday. It emitted bad smell. I pulled the charging plug out. I cannot press the power button now. It is flickering inside with sound clicking inside. I am curious to open it and look inside. But I do not dare to open it because in it notice it says (do not open the cover . Risk of Electrical Shock.) When I look at you, you don't look that quotient. I am afraid if I go to the repair shop they might charge too much.

HOW TO SWITCH THE UPS ON/OFF CORRECTLY. i. Connect the utility power to the UPS. 2. Press the power switch until LED starts glowing. 3. In case, UPS trips due to Overload or Battery Low, it can be reset by pressing the power switch after correcting the fault condition.

This batteries are charged with some kind of charge controller IC, or just by applying a small current(500ma or so)? I've the same situation, but my ups wasn't charged since many years, now batteries are completely flat (0.5v). The ups shouldn't it be able to charge them even if the charge is so low? I've got a charger for this gel-lead batteries, I will try with that, to see if it resurrects. If anybody can give me some hints on how to fix the device, that would be great!! Thanks! 😉

Try a different battery, if it still doesn't charge your UPS charging circuit maybe damage.

if next tym ur ups battery goes bad, use a car battery. thats what im using on my ups Eaton NV-600

That's fine for a temporary fix if the car battery is the same voltage and it is near full charge. If it is nearly depleted, the UPS may not be able to charge it (and the UPS may become damaged).
