Ever heard of vegan modaks on Ganesh Chaturthi? Sounds a bit impossible?
Well nothing is! We have prepared modaks without the use of dairy or any mould. And still the recipe guarantees lip-smacking modaks for you and your friends and family to relish.
Like any other festival, Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations are highlighted by a variety of mouth-watering dishes and sweets that are akin to happiness. A significant portion of the menu includes dishes that are said to have been the favourites of Lord Ganesha, such as modak, which had the power to satisfy his hunger. And did you know, Ganesh Ji was given the title "Modarpriya" for the same reason?
Do try this vegan modak recipe and if you’d want to see your friend's jaw drop then take this delicious sweet to their house for puja and enjoy their reaction to it.
Ingredients:
½ cup Cashew milk
1 cup Coconut milk powder
Some Saffron strands
1/4 tsp Elaichi/Cardamom powder
½ cup sugar
Recipe:
1. Take Cashew milk, and add Coconut milk powder to it.
2. Keep stirring both the ingredients with a ladle or spatula on a low flame.
3. Add kesar/Saffron when both the ingredients mix well.
4. Add Elaichi/Cardamom powder and mix well.
5. Cook the milk on a low flame until it thickens.
6. Add sugar.
7. Cook the sugar on a low flame while stirring it continuously.
8. Your mixture is ready when it stops sticking the pan.
9. Put the mixture in a container.
10. Allow the mixture to cool a bit, and make pedas while they are still warm.
11. Use your fingers to give it a conical shape.
12. Apply some water, vegan ghee, or coconut oil to your hands if the mixture is sticky.
13. You can use Kesar/Saffron strands to decorate your modak.
Your modak are now ready!
