Thanks so much for shooting this vid, I was struggling to find a video on setting this up and this stuff is very foreign to me... finger crossed I can get it to work.
Just picked up a Mixstream Pro! Thinking of transitioning from Pioneer to Denon and the MP is a great way to get my feet wet, I am new to SS with the Control One too! Thanks for the video!
Thank you for this video. I have been waiting for the dongle and it's finally on its way to me. Question: can I connect all of my equipment in a daisy chain using the smartswitch USB to DMX cable and the connect all other equipment using a regular DMX cable or wpuldmi need to buy additional smart switch DMX cables? Also. Can I use a wireless adapter to connect gear that's across the room or do I have to use a physical cable? I'm Totally new to DMX. I've usually just used the auto function with everything. Thanks.
You can use regular DMX cables to connect your lights, the dongle just needs to be first in the chain (coming out of the back of the Mixstream Pro), you should be able to use a wireless DMX adapter as well.
Thank you for this video! Did you connect the Soundswitch cable directly to the DMX lights or do you have a DMX controller? I have seen the Soundswitch cable for sale but it looks extremely short. Just wondering how you have your physical connections.
@@AndyMontgomeryPiano the SoundSwitch cable is a dongle that plugs into the Mixstream with a usb on one side and a DMX connector on the other side. I have a longer DMX cable that goes between the dongle and the first light, then DMX cables connecting all of the lights with each other.
are you able to use sound switch to controll dmx machines such as stage flames or c02 machines i have been looking for an answer but have yet to come across anything
Unfortunately, not everything is as simple as described in the video :\ I have the same console and interface, but a different lighting effect: Stairville All FX Bar. Following your instructions, my light effect doesn't react at all to Numark commands :( In one of the groups, someone told me that I should set Attribute Cues in SoundSwitch, but I don't know which sliders to move and what values to enter. Any hint?
Thank you Jake for this video. In my case as a musician, I need my hands to play the guitar. That means... "music and lights" working completely independent of (from) me. So... i would have... lets say, a strip of 20 songs (different beat, one after the other with silence in between). Can I design 20 lightning "set ups" within that strip of songs.? I know probably Ableton or footswitches would be better options for musicians.... but If i could do this all automatic with the Mixstream (with no computer either..)...man....it will be great. I do Dj too..,but ...not my priority for now..!! Anyway....Thank you again. Eric
Yes, if I'm understanding your scenario correctly, this should work just fine. You could save it all as one track, then edit the lightshow with SoundSwitch on your computer. Then, when you export the track with to an SD card, the light show will be attached to the file and play automatically when you play the track on the Mixstream Pro. Or, you could just save them all as separate tracks, use SoundSwitch to autoscript the tracks, and then pull them up as a playlist on the Mixstream Pro.
so I followed this, added my chauv swarm fx ils (1-18) and intimidator 110 (19-30), exported to usb, loaded it on numark easily but my lights do not function correctly at all. I have set the correct starting channels on each light and connected correctly. what am I doing wrong? do I need to add automations to tracks, I presumed this will be automatic.
I would make sure that you are selecting the correct Soundswitch project on the USB like at 7:11 in the video. You shouldn't need to add automations if you don't want to. You'll know if everything is working if the color override onscreen controls change the color of the lights when pressed.
I tried just adding one new project with one light and the same issue. Maybe it’s the cable. I’ll keep trying. A group said I have to add automations and auto loops?
You can connect to Philips Hue lights wirelessly from the Mixstream Pro without a laptop, but to control multiple DMX fixtures, you need to add them to a "Venue" in SoundSwitch on a laptop so that the Mixstream Pro has all of the light information (number of channels, DMX address)
I bought the mixstream pro and the soundswitch dongle for home for house parties. I see that the dongle comes with a 90 day subscription to soundswitch. Can I create a few lighting profiles, put them on a thumb drive and use them forever on my mixstream pro? Or does the mixstream require an internet connection to verify I have a current license of sound switch every time I want to use dmx lights at home? Ie after my free 90 day subscription ends.
I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think you might be ok. If it does work, you'll only be able to use those lights with Auto Loops and the overrides on the controller since you won't be able do any custom scripting or auto scripting. Only one way to find out!
Jake question for you. I have the mixstream Pro and I also have the Philips hue lighting‘s three of them and I have a hub and I travel a lot for work i.e. in hotel rooms where I cannot access the hotels router or gateway and a half mostly connected to the Internet by Wi-Fi I’ve purchased a extender which has a ethernet in Out port and the Wi-Fi will not be on the same network because the ethernet is a wired connection so I was wondering if you knew how I could access my Philip hue lights with my mixstream pro in the situations where I cannot access the gateway from the hotel or be on their private net work and I just am trying to get by so I can do some streaming and performances when I’m bored in the hotel and utilize all the stuff that I have to make it a little more exciting so if you could please help me with any kind of information on this obstacle I’m trying to hurdle that would be great thank you. Thank you Ian Mani DJ for 30 years and just now getting into lighting after purchasing them mixstream pro
I can't think of any solution for Philips Hue when you can't access the router, one solution that I can think of would be to buy some cheap DMX lights and use a SoundSwitch dongle with the Mixstream Pro instead like in the video.
