QUICK TIP: I only water my plants using this method about every two to three weeks depending on the season. I use no more than a quart of water. This keeps my plants from standing in water, it keeps the roots happy and provides just enough humidity for a healthy plant!

Hi there, is that orange situation called a drainage plate? I'm not able to find it at home depot or on line. Can't seem to figure out what it's called. Can you help..? Thanks, Nicole
@Tipjar333
@Tipjar333 2 года назад
@@nicolesnead3414 It's called an Ups-A-Daisy planter insert. Lowes and Home Depot carry them.

Great video. Also, for plants requiring even higher humidity levels, drilling the orange saucer with more holes can increase the rate of evaporation, and therefore increasing the humidity levels.

Hi. Placing your nursery pots inside of the decorative cover pots are a good idea. I was apprehensive about them sitting in water. Keeping the water at a quart each time u water is a great idea. It also prevents overwatering. You can always water less but more often during the summer months. Finding the balance is key. Thank u for sharing. This will be my go to method for larger pots as I repot them. For now my struggle is real. 😆 lol

thank you for this helpful video!! What do you call the hard plastic insert that you bought from Home Depot to put on top of the rocks? The plastic disk that appears to be an orange color with several drainage holes? Is there a name for that disk- do I find it in the gardening aisle? Thank you!

Hi A C, I'm putting water in the soil and then it filters down through the rocks which allows it to evaporate back up towards the plant. Hope this helps!

Any tips on how to keep a Majesty Palm from being over/under watered? Ive tried for years and they just die
@LiveItUpLeslie
@LiveItUpLeslie 4 года назад
Majesty Palms can be so tricky. 😔 And since I don't know where you're located, I would just read up on their care and maintenance requirements. Then, I would err on the side of caution and just check the soil with my finger. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

Just got a 3ft palm and it came in a nursery pot thats inside a decorative pot. The decorative pot doesnt have any drainage holes or a plate underneath, and the nursery pot fits snug inside so it's not easy to get out to drain the water from the decorative pot. Those large ceramic pots u have are so pretty but SO expensive 😣.

@@LiveItUpLeslie The consensus is not to keep the plant in the plastic container the plant came in. I've always heard you repot it immediately, as that plastic container is meant to be temporary. Thanks for the video and the great advice.

I was wondering about this as well, but her plants look so amazingly healthy! My next thought is that if your plant is needing a bigger pot, but you still want to use this method, just transplant into the same type of plastic nursery pot but BIGGER! I have so many of those I’ve kept from other outdoor plants I have transplanted into the ground. Now they can be reused ♻️ Thank you for all these wonderful ideas! You’re smart, and like others have said your energy is positively infectious. 💞
